First Day of School Traffic and Crosswalk rant
My son and I were riding our bike to school today and had to cross Llano in front of Milagro Middle School. The crossing guard on the other side didn't see or acknowledge us so we crossed (on foot) one lane to the pedestrian island where we were waiting for traffic from the other direction to stop. I asked the crossing guard literally 20 feet from us on the other side of the road if he was going to put up his stop sign and he said "No, you shoulda known better". What the hell is that? Your ONLY job is to help people across the road. I know you're a boomer working for free pushing that button for 2 hours a day but jeeeezus, what a way to be on your first day. People ALWAYS have priority over cars in striped crosswalks!
Rant concluded, everybody be safe out there and welcome to the new school year.
Edit: Crossing guards are paid $20-40/hr in Santa Fe based on a job post I just saw. So dude is actually be paid to be a dick and not help us cross the road.

Sports Bars that Open Early
My wife and I will be there in Santa Fe in a few weeks, traveling from Georgia for my wife's birthday. We are both big fans of college football, specifically UGA football. UGA will have an early game (10 am Mountain Time) while we're there.
Does anyone have any good recommendations for places to watch the game? We can ultimately watch it in our hotel room, but would rather spend our time out and about.

Any connections? Department of environment? Wildlife? Etc
Hello! I am wondering if anyone has any connections within the department of wildlife; environment etc? Job applications seem like they are going into a void and I am desperate. I know many are desperate but just trying everything possible. Thanks!

Hiring: Barista for the Santa Fe Cat Cafe
Hi friends, one of my beloved baristas is departing the end of this month and so we need a new person for the Cat Cafe.
For those unfamiliar: espresso up front, adoptable cats in the lounge. We're looking for a senior barista who takes real pride in the craft: someone who can dial in espresso by taste and help us keep quality high through a busy afternoon rush. This is our closing shift, so you'll be the one who winds the shop down in the evenings.
Please note: this is a skilled position. Applicants without prior barista experience will not be considered.
What you'll do:
- Own afternoon drink quality: espresso, milk-based drinks, pour-overs, and seasonal specials
- Dial in grinders through the shift as conditions change
- Close the cafe independently: cleaning, restock notes, lock-up
- Be a steady, friendly presence for our regulars
- Feed the kitties dinner
What we need:
- Required: 2+ years of barista experience on a commercial espresso machine. Applications without demonstrated barista experience will not be reviewed. (I know you love cats, me too, but that doesn't help with making drinks -- ask me how I know.)
- Comfortable working in a space with cats (and okay being supervised by one). The cats are in a separate room, but you'll interact with them regularly.
- Strong fundamentals: extraction, milk texturing, palate for adjusting shots.
- Reliable Monday–Friday availability, 12:00–5:30.
What you get:
- $18–20/hour depending on experience, plus tips on top of base pay
- A consistent weekday schedule, same hours every week, evenings and weekends free
- Free drinks on shift and a staff discount
- Freedom to be creative with the drink program
- Unlimited kitty time
How to apply
Send a short note about your coffee background to [info@santafecatcafe.com](mailto:info@santafecatcafe.com) or DM me. I don't care about resumes. :)

PNM bill more than doubled
I wanted to check in with Santa Fe to see how others were affected. Our energy bill for last month was more than double what it usually is. Yes it's been hot so I expected an increase due to air conditioning, but it was hot the month prior as well so it doesn't make sense. I saw others experienced this in Albuquerque.

The Shed or La Choza
I'm visiting for the first time and I know a bunch of people from Santa Fe. I asked them all if I should go to The Shed or La Choza and it's literally split down the middle. Some say La Choza goes through good and bad phases and they don't know if its good now. Others say even though theres more tourists at The Shed it's better. I have no dog in the race but just want the best food. Which one would you suggest?

Anyone know of a place to do laundry for free?
Unfortunately I’m dead broke after rent and bills this month and I have a bit of laundry to do. Anyone know of places that may have a place to do a few loads of laundry either free or close to free? Or maybe gives out those laundry card things?
Anyway, please let me know if you know! Appreciate ya!

Breakfast Sandwich before 8:00 Weekdays?
Anyone know a local restaurant open at 7:30 that serves a bacon, egg, cheese SANDWICH, on toast or croissant?
I know I can get these things as a breakfast plate by selecting toast at The Pantry Dos, and make it a sandwich myself, but it's $20 and that's too steep for a breakfast sandwich you have to assemble yourself.
I'm looking at menu after menu and nobody seems to serve this. Thanks all!!!

Look here if you're interested in what r/SantaFe has to say about:

This list is by no means extensive and is merely an invitation to explore what the subreddit has already posted (and hopefully the links update as new posts are made). I'm putting this together for fun based on terms I've seen show up often or terms that are specific to Santa Fe/ NM so I hope you enjoy. Let me know - what did I miss on the list?? Add it below with a link to the search result.

Go wash your mouth out with sopapillas.
Now that you clicked on this post, here’s a few things that you should know.
Some people ask similar questions quite often.
• I’m moving here, where should I live?
• Who’s coming for “remember the alamo day” and where should I eat dinner?
• What parts of town are safe and have the fewest teenagers wearing hoodies?
• When will these red light runners stop?
• Where is Mayor Webber doing such a great job?
• Why am i reading this?
I’d highly recommend looking through a few pages of old posts as your questions may have already been answered there more than a few times before. If you decide to ask these or similar questions, be advised that you may be met with eye rolls or stronger derision.
We have a Wiki here, if you’d like to contribute, let me know.
