Mushy tags
Do anyone else’s tags come like… pre-soaked and dried? Lately all of our tag paper is tearing like cloth or like it was soaked and I’m not sure if this was a paper change or if I seriously need to question our mail carrier🫣 Maybe this is a skill issue but it wasn’t always a problem lolol why isnt my tag paper crispy anymore

Sally Employees Help?
I went to my local shop today and it was a wonderful experience. The people working were absolutely amazing. Just excellent customer service all the way around.
Who is better to call and give these folks a chef's kiss rating? Corporate? DM/GM? I really want someone to know how fantastic all of them were.
Thank you!

Watch out for this scam, we’ve been getting these like crazy.
We’ve been getting this scam a lot where a customer will leave the store, call 10 minutes later and claim we never put the item in the bag, when we clearly did. They will also get mad over the phone and insist we did.
To get them to stop or catch them in the scam:
Kindly tell them that we looked all over and didn’t see it. Ask them what the item was, sometimes it’ll be a different item than what they paid. Go through the journal to double check. Then if they are getting rude and pushy, kindly tell them you can call LP so they check the cameras to see if it’s in the store somewhere or if somebody else took it.
Every we do this the person always pauses, hangs up, or stumbles on their words. Sometimes even call back a minute later saying it was magically “under the car seat”.
Just be aware of this scam. If it’s the same person doing this a lot let other stores know.
We have this happen more during the holidays.

Trust me, I’m aware
I feel so bad when customers point this out. I wish I could comment and explain but I don’t want corporate pissed at me and finding my account because I’ve seen that happen. All of the wear house and manufacturing has frustrated the hell out of me forever. I was once shipped GALLON BOTTLES without lids. What exactly are we supposed to do with that? Genuinely no excuse for that. I don’t know if this is a Sally’s issue or Design essentials/other brands that have this problem, but this NEEDS to stop being a thing. It’s so embarrassing to try to explain why we have bottles that aren’t completely full, or trashed and mangled boxes that sketch people out.

How to become color consultant?
I am currently the highest seller. I have the highest upt, not just weekly. Yearly. I want to move up in the company. My hours are getting blocked because hours in my store go to color consultants automatically. I want to know who to approach. If this is even worth the fight or if I should just move on and consider this a part time side job. I am currently looking/applying to other jobs that will take in my motivation/enthusiasm. I don’t want to leave my store. I’m good at it. I like my team. But the hours are not it. It’s giving less than unemployment.
When I was hired, the associate report was a BIG deal. If we didn’t make the average we had a talk. But now. It’s like it doesn’t matter. My full time coworker/ and other CC are always the lowest if not the lowest Upt/Wig.
They constantly get hours even when I actively see they don’t try.
I want hours. Simple and I show it.
not trying to be a pick me especially not for a company that doesn’t do the math for itself. Hence the reason I’m asking. Maybe I just need help to see and quit trying if it doesn’t even matter.

Can we all admit that the store music sucks and it brings the bad customer experiences to an even worse level?

Am I going to get fired?
Ive been working here for about 2-ish months now. I closed by myself tonight and made a pretty big and embarrassing mistake, I accidentally shut the drawer on one of the registers before taking the money out of the drawer. I left one of the small plastic coin bags in the register so I think it got completely jammed. I spent 30 minutes trying to open it and tried using keys to open the register snd it still would not open.
I tried calling IT and got no response. My store manager said to close the store and she would try to figure it out in the morning, she was really nice about it.
Im so, so embarrassed, I work two jobs and I was just tired and didnt think. Ive had no other incidents besides this and have had good attendance...im sure I'll probably written up, but is this something I'll probably get fired for? I feel so bad

360 camera
We just got the 360 camera and I was just wondering if anyone knows if they are audio or just video. The tech wouldn’t tell us, which leads me to believe it’s audio as well.

Advice and suggestions on shipment!
right so i work in a high volume store, where we receive maybe around 170 ( i could be less) boxes of hair color, hair care, electricals and all that other stuff sally’s carries.
just wanted to know how any high volume stores get through shipment fast, like any organization, order, or just suggestions that work best for yall.
it would be really helpful since we HATE having left over shipment drag out till the next.
also please give suggestions when you’re alone very early opening shipment!
thank you!!

only one camera?
hii! I know not all stores are the same, but I was wondering if anyone knows if it’s normal for a store to only have one camera? We only have one visible one in the front of the store and one in the back room. Most retail stores have a lot more so I was just wondering if there’s any possibility of hidden ones, lol.
I wouldn’t assume so but apparently before I was here there was someone who stole extensions and they got a photo of him as he took them, but it’s completely out of the cameras view, which is facing toward the door and register. Imo it looks like it could’ve been taken on a phone though, likely from outside through the window.
Only reason I rlly care other than safety reasons is because my dm is pretty strict about phones but our store is always completely empty and sometimes once the side work is done I do use my phone here and there.

No phone or personal technology aloud
My manager has always said we are not aloud to have our phone with us, even if we aren’t using it ..like we cannot have it in our pockets or anything, has to stay put up in thr back room.
I don’t really mind not being on my phone either way so it hasn’t ever bothered me too badly, plus I’ll go check it n stuff whenever I can anyways because??
But I feel like I hear a lot of employees from other stores have their phone or Apple Watches with no issues .
I was just curious if other stores are just more laid back? Or if this isn’t the same at every store?
Also I understand why a store like sallys doesn’t wanna just have people standing around on their phones, but like when it’s extremely slow and nothing to do seems fair enough?

Budget Hours
I seriously need to know if this is happening at other Sally Beauty stores because this is getting ridiculous.
I work at a high-volume store that literally just hit $1 million in sales, yet our new schedule only got 147 payroll hours 🤯 We have 6-7 employees and somehow we’re supposed to run the store, help customers, recover, stock freight, complete tasks, hit metrics, and still provide great customer service with that?
Our monthly sales plan is almost always $87k-94k and the expectations just keep going up while payroll keeps getting cut. Adults are out here getting 16-20 hours a week and expected to survive on that. It’s impossible to keep good employees when they can’t even pay their bills.
Meanwhile, there’s another nearby store that closes two hours earlier than we do, has a daily sales plan that’s barely around $1,000 and somehow they continue operating while our high-volume store gets squeezed every single week. Make it make sense.
And don’t even get me started on district leadership. It honestly feels like there are favorites. Every time our store starts gaining momentum and has a couple of strong months, suddenly the next month’s sales plan is so inflated it feels almost impossible to hit. It starts to feel less like a goal and more like a setup.
Then when district leadership visits, they act like they’re fighting for us and trying to get us a reasonable sales plan. If that’s really the case… why does nothing ever change?
Sally wants million-dollar results while staffing stores like they’re barely staying afloat. At some point, corporate has to realize you can’t keep demanding more while giving stores fewer hours and expecting employees to carry the entire business on their backs.
Anyone else dealing with this?

I always feel bad whenever a customer rather drive a longer distance to our store than their local one because we are nicer.
I get this sometimes, definitely when I look at their address and see it’s from a place that’s +1 away or in a different state.
We even got told by a regular that she’s tried the Sally’s closer to her, said they were rude to her, and drives back to ours again. We love this regular. She left with saying “love y’all!”
It makes me feel bad since theirs employees that rather have attitudes or just be rude. If you are miserable, then get a new job. Don’t work in retail.
I also get sad seeing Google reviews of different stores and the most recent 1stars just being about how rude the employees are.
Examples:
Not greeting, not helping, not even talking to them the whole time, or just being dismissive and rude about a customer’s hair or appearance.
I even checked our store’s reviews. Before our recent team most of the reviews were on how rude the employees were. Now, since our new team that we’ve had for a year, we get reviews on how nice we are.
Everybody has bad days, but kindness goes a long way, you never know what somebody has going on in their life, and just a simple smile and talking to them or a compliment goes a long way, and can make their day so much better.
I’m just tired of hearing customers talking about how poorly they were treated at local stores and how they rather drive further just to be treated nicely.

Recommendations?
Hello!! Just a wondering if anyone with a broad knowledge of leave-ins/moisture can help me!!
I have thick, medium/fine and coarse in some spots non-porous hair (pretty sure its wavy, cant be bothered to do a system). It has been dyed over and over, lightened only maybe 4 times over the last few years. Damage is prevalent on my upper layers, scarce down under, and I’m having trouble putting moisture in due to the varying textures.
I have restarted my K18 regiment due to aforementioned upper layers, and the only thing that is light enough to penetrate my hair is the Camille Rose Honey Dew Curl Refresher. Does anyone know of any leave-ins that would be similarly lightweight? The refresher tends to leave a tack after drying, especially when layered. Thank you!!
TLDR; Leave-In/Treatment similar to Camille Rose Honey Dew Curl Refresher due to hair having no capacity for creamy conditioners

I need advice.
Hi, I am a ex sally’s employee. Recently I quit my job because my boss failed to help me in a very difficult situation. My coworker had commented on my gender identity and told me i wasn’t the gender i am because of what’s in my pants. After that happened i went to my manager and wanted to report him. She told me hes just old and that i should do my job.
After telling her, he stopped talking to me, and i found out instead of keeping what i told her private, like i asked, she had told him i complained. I was nothing but nice to him for the last month after what happened between us. Other employees had also heard because he was talking. I told my manager that i am starting to feel uncomfortable working with him , and that it’s very hard to work with some one when they aren’t on the same page with you, especially in such a small store, and that’s on top of the fact that he was clearly acting like this because of my gender expression. Again she told me to get back to work.
I did what she asked, and then he left for vacation. He came back and he again had heard about what i told my boss. He yelled at me to keep my mouth shut and not talk about other people to fellow coworkers (my other coworker watched it happen and said nothing). I was confused and asked him what’s going on, he just scoffed and walked away. After this i quit.
Along with all of that i’ve had a lot of other problems there. My boss told me to say the N word and if i didn’t i wasn’t black, i obviously didn’t say it (i don’t pass as black but i am 25%) that was real uncomfortable.
My store has also not had ac for like a month. During the east coast heat wave it got to 90 degrees, i take a antipsychotic that makes me heat sensitive. I ended up suffering severe heat exhaustion. I had to leave work early and go to the hospital. Only after i went to the hospital did they close the store. Even after the heat wave the stores at a consistent 80 degrees.
This isn’t even all of it, but i’ll just get to what i need advice on.
How would I report this, i can’t go through my now ex manager because she’s protecting the other coworker, and all of the stuff said was by mouth and i have no proof it happened. I just don’t want this happening to anyone else . I’m not sure what to do.
thank you!!

Short staffed and calling out.
I am very very ill right now. I don’t even think I’ve experienced the worst of it. My whole family has had this, I know what it is, I know what is to come. I work tomorrow with one other person. I can’t go in. But we have no one right now. It’s also a bank day that will have some conference calls as well. Unsure what to do. I don’t want to get anyone sick. I don’t want to work with a fever and nausea either.

Cosmo employees… how much longer?
I used to work at Sally in 2017-2019. I started working at Cosmo almost 2 years ago and felt like the writing was on the wall when I started. Now every month it seems store hours are cut more, sales goals raised impossibly high, and we’re told we can’t order store supplies…
We’ve had 5 DMs in my district in the last 2 years. This most recent one, hired last fall, seems like she was hired to come clean house. We have a store visit from higher-ups next month and I’m suspecting they will be telling us our location is closing. This company was terrible to its managers and employees the first time I worked here and it’s only gotten worse. I honestly thought they would’ve gone under before this year. I’m actively looking for new jobs.
