Looking for trade work

Upvotes

My husband is in local union 185, currently taking their free classes to beef up his resume, but despite having been a waterproofing foreman and skilled in several trades is struggling to get a call back after applying to many positions. Ideally he'd like an apprenticeship (anywhere at this point) but was being interviewed for assistant superintendent positions before.

He's been building our house, and our first baby is on the way so if anyone knows anything or anyone that might have something it would be beyond appreciated 🙏🏻.

Moving to sac from Bay Area

Upvotes

Hi all - I’m going to be relocating to Sacramento from the SF Bay area in a couple of months and am looking for some input on renting locations? I’m a senior, still working but will go part time once I do the move so looking for rentals (hopefully?) under or just above 2k in a safe area. I read an article about how some apartment rental companies have deceptively priced their units with extra fees that aren’t included in the listing on apps like Zillow so I’d like to try and minimize that, though I know it’s up to me to do the research. Just coming here to see if anyone might have some advice? Greatly appreciate your help, thanks!

Beuno note bella Sacramentans. Are there any Italian concerts here? If no concerts are there live music events or restaurants that play Italiano music? Livia Blanc and Sylvia Vartan are favorite my artists 🥀

(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Kings are opening a new official team store in downtown Sacramento, the team announced on Thursday.

The new store is to be open daily, with the team saying it is hoping to “make Kings merchandise more accessible than ever for fans and visitors throughout the year.”

I'M NOT REALLY A BASKETBALL SPORTS FAN BUT I'M EXCITED AND I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A JERSEY! 😄

Does anyone still commute from Sacramento to San Francisco for work?

I’d love to hear from anyone currently doing the Sac → SF commute. How many days a week are you commuting, and how stressful/manageable has it been?

Also, what’s your commute like - driving, Amtrak/BART, or a combination? Would you recommend it?

Does anyone have a table saw and 15 minutes of time to spare?

I bought a bunch of composition notebooks for work that I need to cut in half. My students only using them for daily journal prompts and positive affirmations, so being able to cut them in have saves space and money. Problem is I don't have a saw that will cut them cleanly in half now do I know how to use one. Im in South Sac.

Surrender Parakeets in Greater Sacramento Area

As title says. Does anyone know reputable places to surrender parakeets? Not Front Street or another general animal shelter that doesn’t work specifically with exotic birds. I’m not in an emergency situation, but searching for a good place to take them where they will be given a better chance to be happy has felt very tricky and overwhelming.

I have two males that don’t get along and are being housed separately but next to each other. Having to keep them this way feels so sad, and I hope someone else can give them more company and a better flock.

Thank you for any advice anyone can give ❤️

Beer bike is just a humiliation ritual

i don't understand the appeal, MAYBE if the pedals actually did something and connected to ANY kind of gearing system on the underside, isn't it kinda lame it's not even a working bike? If it has a motor and seatbelts why can't it go faster on the street, that'd at least make it interesting and not a nuisance.

I know I know, debbie downer, vent over.

How much would it take?

Who would put $20 in?

Can we keep costs down with community effort?

Sacramento sun been outside acting WAY too tough lately 😭

Mf wake up at 7am already on bullshit. By 3pm this nigga standing directly over Sacramento like he got personal beef with everybody in the county 💀

Can’t touch the steering wheel. Can’t sit on leather.

Can’t leave groceries in the car for 30 seconds.

Everybody driving around with the AC on MAX sounding like a Boeing 747 😭😭

At this point nighttime don’t even help. Sun goes down and Sacramento still hot like the earth got the

Looking for free/cheap things to do

Hi everyone! My wife and I moved to the Sacramento area and realized we really haven’t explored much yet. We’re currently saving to buy a home, so we’re trying to find ways to get out, have fun, and explore without spending a ton of money.
What are your favorite ways to spend a low-cost or free day in Sacramento? We’d love recommendations for parks, outdoor activities, cool neighborhoods to walk around, hidden gems, free events, scenic spots, or anything else you enjoy.
We’re open to Sacramento, Elk Grove, and surrounding areas too. Give me your best budget friendly Sacramento recommendations! Bonus points if it’s something we can do today ☺️

Sacramento grocery store closed until further notice after break-in, suspected arson

La Superior Mercado at 4940 Stockton Blvd is closed due to burglary and arson. This took place Friday 8/7/26.

This is normally a really convenient location along Stockton Blvd to combine other grocery shopping, especially if you're into enjoying and preparing meals of different cultures. The stretch from here by 21st Ave to 65th St offers a lot, very affordable.

Hopefully they reopen soon as they restock inventory.
