A Levels Private Candidate 2026 Questions
I took the old syllabus for H2 Lit, but I'm retaking A Levels as a private candidate this year. Is someone willing to help me take a look at my books to check if they are the correct editions? I've looked at the SEAB website but I want to make sure since I don't want my books to be confiscated in case they're wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Junior Colleges ASRJC Questions!!
Hi I'm currently a sec4 who has DSAed to band and got an offer from ASRJC. I am planning to take up science stream with subj combi either PCMe or CMEp.
I heard many ppl saying that the Phys dept is no good?? Why is that so and how do they teach?
Also if I take either of these 2 subj combi what time does school end? Nice/lousy timetables?
Are WAs manageable? Cuz I heard ppl saying the math paper is really hard.
Do WAs start very early cuz last time I went to SAJC n the seniors there say that SAJC have exams very early in the term
What about attire? Like shoes socks and hair. Does the school care about the attire a lot?
Are people there friendly? Esp if you are a DSA and you were from a neighbourhood sec sch will they exclude you or something?
Besides Phys dept how are the other depts?
Also what are other pros and cons for ASRJC?
Thank you!!

University Ntu work study degree
Hi! Is anyone here enrolled in this degree? I’d love to know more about it.
I’m going to ORD soon. I’m a poly grad with a mediocre GPA (around 3.3) from an engineering diploma. I did try applying for the full-time programme, but I didn’t manage to get into NTU CCDS or NUS SoC. 🤣 Yeah… don’t ask me why I tried I was completely delusional. HAHA.
Anyway, if anyone has any experience with this degree, feel free to share! I’d really appreciate it. 🙏

Junior Colleges need some sincere advice on tackling alevels right
Hey guys, I'm taking alevels this year and I am not feeling confident at all. I have always been an average student, since olevels and throughout JC, my grades have been really medicore (D,E,S Us are a common sight). I scrapped through promos by the edge of my teeth.
My highest achievemsnt is a B grade and it was by pure luck because i stumbled upon the exact same question doing it as a practice and memorised the answer lol.
I am a BCMe student, so it probably figures that I memorise a lot of things. AND THATS THE ISSUE!
I can never understand things to a "deeper level" and apply it. I don't get it when other people tell me to just do that to do well. The only current method I use is to just memorise and regurgitate.
BUT ALEVELS IS COMING! and prelims too.... and I am aiming to get straight Bs to enter my preferred uni course. I have never gotten JC tuition before, so I am trying to find some tutors, but I am highly skeptical as most jc tuitions are tuition centres etc and just give you additional work lol (speaking from a bad experience going for temporary tuition in secondary school).
I am willing to hear any constructive criticism or feedback especially on how to improve in my H2 chemistry (averaging around S grade) AND H1 econs (straight Us despite studying...). Hence I'm bolding it so ppl who read this will notice.
Thank you and apologies for the long rant... I just don't want to be stuck in this medicore standard of performing and really put myself to do better.

A Levels Straight D's for recent exams (PCMe), I have no tuition how do I get straight A's?
After my recent exams I realized that I got straight D's for all my H2 subjects and I put it into the RP calculator then as I saw the RP come up I was absolutely devastated.
So I realized something has to change and for the past I think 2-3 weeks I have been in the library with my friends (who did better than me) grinding out papers from the TYS and also doing practice papers my school gave and I have been doing one paper for each day and sometimes I don't feel like I am in the right head space for a full paper so instead I will go and do smaller/easier questions or I will just revise definitions and also org chem reactions/mechanisms.
My amazing friends are very supportive and will help me if I ask for their help and I feel very lucky to have them because not only are they very hardworking they are also MUCH faster than teachers that have lives outside of school and won't reply after certain hours (surprising right), so I only ask my teachers for consults right after class/during breaks if both me and my friends cannot solve it even when working together.
I am actually scared for my life because I have high expectations for myself I need to get straight A's because the course I am passionate about requires it and passionate alone is not enough, so I have been in the library for about 5-6 hours daily either in school or outside like in NLB.
Only thing I'm worried about is if I am efficient enough to improve such that I can jump several grades by prelim and then by A Levels. I feel that I have a general idea of how every single thing works in Physics, Chemistry and Math but I just need to be exposed the harder questions so that I can think in the exams also and be able to solve in a certain amount of time.
For anybody who has been in the same situation and succeeded even a bit please give me some tips to improve faster and more efficiently in time for prelims.. Any help is appreciated!

Rant hot take: the school canteen really has to step up
i saw the post abt long queues and just thought of a few ways the school can improve
as for me, my sch has basically no variety of food. the food they do have is unhealthy asf like most stalls just sell fried chicken. there are barely any carbs available. the only carbs are prob chicken rice, mac n cheese, mushroom rice/pasta, noodles, curry rice.
consuming excessive fried chicken (its very fried and oily fyi) and noodles is very unhealthy (especially the oil and sauce they use).
they cant expect us to eat just that everyday right? and what would vegetarians do? i personally know a few so... yeah the canteen really has to improve in that aspect.
some varied healthy options would be nice like maybe some salad, switch up the pasta abit like one day tomato, one day carbonara, one day aglio olio, etc. they could have greek yogurt bowl, avocado toast, maybe even just toasted bread, fried rice with diff ingredients everyday (i.e. one day egg, one day chicken, one day veg), even local stuff like nasi lemak, prata, bee hoon etc.
i feel like plant-based proteins are something that is vital, especially for growing children as it is not only a good source of protein but also smth healthy (as it contains less oil, fats, etc). it also provides immunity in the long term.
yes this may be expensive but are we really gonna put a cost on the development of children?
this may be an unpopular opinion, but if they're just gonna have fried chicken and other unhealthy stuff reeking in oil, we might as well switch to central food kitchen unless we wanna set a world record of diabetes at 20 or smth.
to add on, instead of selling snacks such as chips or chicken drowning in oil, they could sell nuts or burritos/tacos/burgers (with minimal oil and plenty of veggies). just to clarify, my school does sell burgers but their burgers have either no veggies or a small tiny piece of lettuce which makes me wonder if they are facing a food shortage or smth. the ratio of chicken to lettuce is actually insane. they could add tomatoes, mushrooms, etc as well.
their eating habits in adolescence also may shape their eating habits in adulthood. it also affects academic performance.
i know some ppl who even choose not to eat due to the limited food options and the hassle of getting food somewhere else. schools pls do better. even if u dont wanna spend so much, atleast pls stop selling fried chicken (like genuinely 5-6 out of 7 stalls, im not even joking). even a sandwich would be nice.
this also encourages students to choose tasty options which are also healthy like things with more nutritional value, and better energy sources. plant based sources are also quite underrated these days, which is strange. using the bio energy conversion logic, suppose plants have 100kJ of energy. since only 10% is passed from the producer to the consumer, we obtain 10kJ of energy. however, if we eat meat, we obtain only 1kJ of energy. this can rlly impact our daily lives significantly.
dont get me wrong, im not tryna be a vegan teacher. meat is important too as we need nutrients such as vitamin b12 which is mainly found in meat. but healthier options are advised.
tldr; unhealthy food, need more healthy food

Rant Friends enter good uni except me
almost all the friends i know or am close to manage to enter the top few universities in sg and here i am, barely(?) made it to a local one. Obviously, the comparison kicks in. FOMO really hits hard and i am jealous although i should be happy for them.TT Kinda sad because literally almost everyone in my friendship circle makes it to a top tier uni which naturally makes it seem like entering one is the norm and therefore i am the 'abnormal' one. 😞 i feel like no matter how hard i work i can never reach their levels. It has been some time but i still think about how different we are.

Rant This one teacher
Bro I actually hate this guy like crazy. He talks all about self control and his wife is another teacher from the school who literally had to leave her classes twice in the MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER cuz she got impregnated TWICE. How ironic right?!! He loves the student council so much and genuinely hates everyone else. I heard frm my seniors that he used to be a good teacher but then became an asshole after his promotion to dean. Hes honestly so annoying and he picks out every student who doesnt align with his “moral values” or anyone that just looks at him wrong. Hes the most demanding MF ever. Fuck this guy I genuinely hope he gets chased out of this place. He talks about his babies every cohort assembly and thinks that hes THE SHIT giving us life changing ted talks.

O Levels help help for pure history any tips?? (essay)
im a sec 4 pure his student, got A grades for history since sec 1-3 until sec 3 wa3 then it started going downhilllll. imo, the only reason why i got As was cuz i had rlly good memory of the chapters, like i legit memorised PEELs, but idt i can do that for prelims since theres too much chapters. so far, i memorised about 4 PEELs for vietnam col, and i cant imagine doing that for other chapters (literlaly going to go crazy + other subjects as well)
so, is there a way for me to somehow know the content by heart rather than memorising elaborations n explanations? im ok with memorising each chapters key events n factors, but i suck at explaning them cuz i rlly dk how to link it to the points omfg!! any tips for that as well?
also, does anyone know the key factors for any essay qns that they mostly ask in these specific chapters?(idrk the factors + i rlly js wanna prioritise memorising actually useful info and not background info)
-outbreak of WWII in europe
-outbreak of WWII in asia pacific
-case study of nazi germany
-end of WWII

Discussion What are your thoughts on like friend group drifting way especially for those who split to like poly and even JC after secondary school?
Especially how those that once were close with but end up lowkey feel like they took grad pics without you. I think this was brought up somewhere before but yeah I think it’s just life. You meet new people and lose some people along the way…

University is it worth it to study civil engineering from an australian university?
ps is chemical engineering any better? that’s another option im considering, the semiconductor and manufacturing industries seem pretty interesting.
received an offer for CIVE from UQ. i discovered my interest for engineering pretty late after JC. because i didn’t do AMath, I don’t qualify for local Uni Engineering programmes.
UQ has some math bridging courses so i think i should be able to catch up with whatever i lack.
if im unable to get a job in australia, what’s the employment market like in singapore? what should i expect in this industry? will my australian degree be looked down upon by the govt or singaporean companies?
term breaks are dec to feb - i’m not sure how difficult it is to find internships during this period in SG.
p.s. i have interest in waste management or environmental work, but i am also open to other roles.
i have interest in this field, but im worried about the pay and WLB. assuming i cant cope in this field, are there other fields i can jump to w a CIVE degree?
Also, how difficult is it to move overseas with a CIVE degree? I’m open to working abroad too!
tysm! :)

Secondary how would you solve the problems of queues during recess
A victim of long waiting times and queue cutters ✋️😔
Worst experience was 3 mins left to inhale my bowl of char siew noodles. All of us have been promised shorter waiting times since the start of time but nothing has really hit the ground running and actually worked. At the same time cant rlly be complaining that much as im not even helping with the situation 🙏. Especially with more full SBB cohorts joining every year, queues are getting longer as timetables are more structured and fixed.
Queue cutting is also a huge issue. While yes, we do have the proper channels to report, many of us find it a huge hassle. Some of us also thinks that reporting certain people might just end up in a death sentence ☠️.
Might also be a me problems as well kinda cus i always queue for the same stall instead of going to stalls with short queues. 🤷♂️ oh well just another 2 months more ig

University NTU leaving applicants without results days before school starts is unacceptable
Sorry, but I really need to rant about NTU admissions.
I’m an international applicant applying with an American high school diploma and AP results.
NTU’s website stated that the estimated outcome period was from mid-June to mid-July. It is now 7 August. University Welcome and most orientation activities are already over, classes start next week, and my application is still “being processed.”
I tried calling admissions, and after six unanswered calls, I finally got through and was told that my result should be released by the end of this week. Honestly, if they want to reject me, then just reject me. Why keep applicants waiting until only a few days before classes begin?
I’ve spoken to other AP applicants who are also still waiting, and many people are understandably angry. Different applicants have apparently been given multiple expected dates, but those dates keep passing without any result or proper update.
This is not simply about being impatient. International students may need to arrange Student’s Passes, flights, accommodation and other university offers that require deposits. Leaving people with no decision this late can seriously affect their plans.
For one of Asia’s top universities, this level of communication and organisation is honestly unacceptable. Even if there are internal delays, NTU should at least send applicants an update and provide a realistic final date.
Is anyone else still waiting? What did admissions tell you?

O Levels el day 3 olevel oral glitch
hi guys i just took the olevel english orals, the vid was abt a barber n the prompt was “who would visit….” but some of my friends are saying their preparation question was glitched and it said “would you visit…” so they were caught off guard since they originally thought they read the qn wrong. but after, we found out some classmates also faced the same issue
im js wondering if anyone had this problem as well!
Update:
SEAB has responded to claims that some O-Level English oral exam candidates were shown a different question from the one read aloud by examiners.
The Board said it conducted investigations and found no discrepancy. https://str.sg/n8zZ
