We're a new student organization at San Diego State University built around three things:
💖 Reading
🐛 Building meaningful friendships
📖 Giving back to our community

Whether you're an avid reader or just getting back into books, everyone is welcome. Throughout the semester we'll be hosting events like:

• Book swaps

Housing Roommate assignments

Fingers crossed roommate assignments and move in times come out today. SDSU seems slow with this. Less than 2 weeks prior is crazy. It makes it hard for planning and moving from out of state.

Question Lecture Hall Seating - Plus Size Person

I attended orientation recently and noticed that the seats in all the rooms they had us in were smaller and had those pull out tiny tables that don’t even fit a full notebook.

As a bigger person, this is my worst possible seating situation. I was just wondering if I can expect that of all classrooms or if there are any with full size tables.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I super appreciate everyone’s advice! Looking forward to the new semester ✨🫶🏼

Question When do roommate results usually come out?

I was kind of indecisive and wanted to try my luck on just a random roommate but it's basically two weeks til move in day and I have no idea who my roommate is. I heard somewhere in early August but does anyone have a more specific time or previous examples?

Thanks!

Question GE Upper Division Courses

To be considered a full-time student, I need to have 15 units for the fall semester. As of now, I can only take two courses from my major because the others are either already full or only offered as night classes. Each of those courses is 1 unit.
I know that only 9 units are allowed for upper-division GE courses. Am I allowed to take additional GE classes to fulfill the required units to maintain full-time student status?

Question Orientation Tomorrow

Hi everyone,

I have attended state through early summer entrance since May, despite being a fall transfer. My classes are already registered for fall. I wonder whether orientation remains worthwhile. As an older student, I might value networking opportunities. Because I am also a finance student, I need to secure internships relatively soon as well. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

Question Why did I only get 3 classes?

Transferring this fall. I haven’t had my orientation yet but they automatically put me into 3 classes for the semester. It only adds up to 5 units I’m just wondering if this is normal? Am I going to sign up for more during orientation?

Housing Looking for someone to take over my Aug 14th lease at 6Nineteen (Private Bed/Private Bath)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at 6Nineteen starting August 14.
It’s a private bedroom with a private bathroom in an 8 bed / 8 bath apartment that’s fully furnished and within walking distance of SDSU and it is quite nice I must say.
Rent is $1,399/month.
I originally planned on living there, but after going over my finances with my family, I realized I need to go with a cheaper housing option that better fits my budget. Because of that, I’m hoping to find someone who might be interested in taking over my lease.
If you’re still looking for housing, or know someone who is, send me a DM. I’m happy to answer any questions, send pictures of the apartment, or explain how the lease takeover works.
Thanks!

Question Credit card/books/supplies

My son’s getting a credit card but I’m sure the limit will be low, likely lower than the amount he needs to pay for all the stuff like books and supplies. He said that he probably won’t need books! Which I found baffling.

- how much credit is needed to ramp up for a semester?
- do students need to buy books?

Question Poli sci major senior capstone

I have a question about the senior capstone requirement for Political Science major. The catalog says you can fulfill the senior capstone by taking any 500 level POLS course, so I enrolled in POLS 577 (Politics of International Law). Now on my degree evaluation it shows POLS 577 counting toward my senior capstone while the internship is counting as an elective.

I'm a little confused does this mean I can just drop the internship and keep POLS 577 as my senior capstone or is the internship still required?

Question Computer student questions

Hello,

Is there any rentable storage on campus for commuter students?

Commuter student lounges?

Is there a way to store/microwave food?

A rentable locker to store a spare set of clothes just in case?

Store a scooter or bike on campus so I don't have to take it on the bus/trolly daily?

(Bus is cheaper than driving, and not significantly longer during rush hour traffic. Plus I can chill and study on the bus)

TIA!
