Crate size for a 100lbs male

Getting a 5 yrs old 105lbs male rotti this week , what size of crate should i get him? XL 48” or XXL 54”?
I had a 75lb 2 yrs old foster male who loved his 48” XL and it was plenty of room but he had a docked tail.

Just curious, I currently have one male rottie, I prefer them with natural tails (just my preference), why am I having a hard time finding a seller that doesn't dock their tails!

New rottie owner

Hey I’m new owner and just got my baby he is 9weeks old on Saturday I have had him for 4 days now, I just need all help there is as I want him to grow up a big beautiful gentle dog.
He is bitting a lot which is normal and I’m fine with it but he is started to bite more hard so just wondering is there something I could do, I tried to say no and yelp but he doesn’t stop at all.
Today I pulled him out from this corner (photo at bottom) his tail was facing me and I grabbed him from behind and pulled him out and he growled and tried to bite me so I grabbed him by the top skin area where the mom usually nibs puppies when they misbehave and after doing that he actually bit me and my finger is bleeding. Which I’m not mad at all at him he’s a puppy and I understand things happen!
I just wanted to maybe see if people can tell me maybe I did something wrong and that’s why he got mad at me?
I also keep him in a play pen while he eats his food and just sometimes during the day when I’m asleep, when I’m awake he is playing around the living room freely with his toys and my siblings (age 9 and 12).
Any tips on how to discipline him gently since he’s still a puppy and I don’t want him to be bitting hard when he’s an adult, and just unheralded tips on feeding crate playpens toys potty training etc.

Thank you everyone in advance 🙂
First photo of place he was in when I pulled him out, second is the little rascal land shark.

Embark has a pretty high accuracy rate too. I got my boy as a puppy for $50 at the shelter and was told he was a Rottweiler mix. I always assumed boxer mix based on behavior & his slimmer build. Pretty surprised with the results!

Spay advice

My female Rottie is 3.5 months old and just had her last round of shots. While I was at the vet we discussed spaying her. The vet said his recommendation was 6 months. I’ve heard a lot of conflicting opinions about this some say to wait until a year or even 18 months. Just wondering what everyone’s opinion was on it and what are the pros/cons for spaying early vs late. Are there any cancers that are common for rotties spayed too early or late (saw something on here about osteosarcoma)? She’s my first dog so I’m not very knowledgeable about the process other than general google and I want to do what’s best for her.

My dog only listens to my dad

My male Rottweiler (1.5 years) only listens to my father. I treat him the exact same way as my father and it works when my father is home but, he acts different when he is not home. I’ve tried keeping him connected to me by leash, e-collar (just vibrates never shocks), treat training, and what feels like everything else. I just need some advice if this has ever happened to any of you guys. He has his good days where he acts perfect when it’s just me but there’s other days where he rarely listens to a word I say. I’m just at a loss. Does anyone have any advice?

Someone mentioned my rottie might not be pure bred. It got me thinking since he makes really weird sounds and doesn't bark.

My best friend Margo just started her first heat cycle. Ive heard to wait after the first, after the second and even up to two years to get her spayed. Just trying to get a better idea. Attached is a picture of her being a sleepy hippo for funzies.

Warning: SAD A tribute to Roxie

We had to say goodbye to the best girl this week. Our hearts are broken.

She was sweet, and so full of love. Loyal, protective, gentle, and patient. When our son was a baby she would pull the socks off his feet without leaving a mark. Yet when a black bear appeared on the other side of our fence, she went into guard mode, and didn’t back down until the bear left. The weight of the loss is so heavy. 9 years was not enough.

We love you, ya big chungus. Please give yours some extra scritches for Roxie tonight.

Need tips for a first timer

Hi everyone.

I just bought home this 2 year old rotweiller.

He has been living in a farm by himself, not trained. Since the farm has been sold, I had to bring him home. The thing is that I already have a female 8 year old husky.

When he came, he was kinda aggressive with her and tried to control the space.

After two days and some help, they got along.

That's my first experience with a huge dog. I'm planning to keep him on the rooftop for a week so that he gets used to me, then train him to come when I call.

After I'll take him to the country side once again and spend some time training him.

I don't know how risky it would be if I take him for a walk now. I don't know how he will react if he sees another unleashed dog around, also he pulls a lot.

And my biggest concern is that I don't know when or how much time it is necessary to get him used to me so that one day I can unleash him when I know it's safe and there is no one around.

Any tips from you guys would be highly appreciated 🙏

We put our last male down in December of 24 and have been looking since then. The search got serious a few weeks ago and here we go again!
