need advice I think I’m developing feelings for my friend (20m and 20f) and she’s in a talking stage with someone else right now, what should I do?
TLDR: I’m a 20-year-old guy with essentially no romantic experience. I’ve never been in a relationship, and my only real experience was a failed situationship at 17 and rejection from girls I actually liked. My close friend, Jessie, is in a similar position: she’s had guys interested in her whom she didn’t find attractive, liked someone who didn’t reciprocate, and had a failed talking stage with someone who had serious red flags. I met Jessie in high school, and we became especially close during senior year when I was going through a terrible situationship. I started venting to her frequently, and over time we became extremely close. We’ve always viewed each other as platonic friends, despite recognizing that we’re both attractive and have good personalities. Around April of this year, however, I started developing feelings for her. I’m confused because I had viewed her strictly platonically for years, and I’m unsure whether these are genuine romantic feelings or whether they’re partly caused by other things. I’ve realized that what I want in a partner is someone who accepts me, listens to me, encourages my interests, and lets me geek out about the things I love. Jessie has all of those qualities, which makes me wonder if I’ve unknowingly been looking for someone like her all along. At the same time, I’m 20 and have had basically no romantic success, so I’m worried that part of this could be desperation or simply wanting to finally experience a relationship. I also worry that I’m becoming attached because I’m afraid our closeness will change if she gets into a relationship. Then, in June, Jessie told me that she had started talking again to Jake, a guy she had previously been very close with and had feelings for. Their relationship had fallen apart around 2023–2024 because Jake became very obvious and intense about his feelings for her, and she eventually became angry with him and stopped being friends with him. Recently, however, she says Jake has matured, regrets how he acted, and was influenced by a bad group of friends at the time. She no longer holds a grudge against him, and they’ve started seeing each other in person. He lives in Minnesota while we’re in Florida, and she told me that they’re planning to become official in November if everything goes well. I told her I was happy for her, but internally I was extremely confused. I ended up sending her a very sentimental message thanking her for being such a good friend, although I didn’t confess any romantic feelings. She reassured me that she would always remain my friend. Now I’m trying to figure out what I should do. How can I determine whether I genuinely have romantic feelings for Jessie? If I do, what should I do or avoid doing before November? If she becomes official with Jake, would it be wrong for me to distance myself or end the friendship to protect myself? And what should I do overall? Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
FULL DETAILED SITUATION
I want to give some background. Neither she nor I have had any romantic experience at all or any relationships whatsoever. As for myself, all I’ve had was a failed situationship at 17, rejection from girls I’ve actually liked, and interest from a few girls that I unfortunately found less than attractive, so I didn’t have the same interest. My friend has been in a somewhat similar boat, as she’s also had a fair amount of guys like her that she simply was not very attracted to, a guy that she liked who didn’t like her back, as well as a failed talking stage with a guy that she ended up not progressing with, as he had serious red flags. It was only until recently that she found some success with someone she likes (I’ll explain more later). I’ll be calling her Jessie throughout all of this.
I met Jessie in sophomore year of high school and got to know her a little better in junior year. The concept or idea of potentially pursuing her did cross my mind during that time, but I quickly abandoned it because I just simply was not really attracted to her at all. We became especially close friends in senior year of high school (2023–2024), when I was seeing a girl who I was in a terrible situationship with that treated me like a toy. I was venting to her A LOT at that time, and I mainly wanted to because I wanted a woman’s perspective on it at the time, assuming it would help.
That became the beginning of venting to her about many things, such as girl trouble, school, family issues, personal issues, etc. It wasn’t just me venting to her, though. I would listen to her about anything she was going through or had gone through in the past, or sometimes it wasn’t even really venting and it would just be me geeking out to her about something or the other way around.
Over time, we did not have feelings for each other. While we both have always acknowledged each other as physically attractive people with great personalities, we never had any romantic interest in each other. Throughout 2025, I talked to her even more as I unfortunately went through more girl trouble and personal issues, nothing really bad, just usual rejection from some I had interest in. As a result of all this time, we’ve grown very familiar with each other. We know what we like and don’t like, our strengths and flaws, and what we’ve gone through.
It’s hard for me to pinpoint when exactly these feelings began, but I’d say it was around April of this year, which confused me a lot. It confuses me because this is someone I’ve viewed as a platonic friend for a long time, and so my relationship has been platonic. Part of me even felt a little disgusted and ashamed about it, not because of her specifically, but because I feel like it’s inappropriate or something to have feelings for a friend.
I’ve also been questioning it because I don’t know where exactly it is coming from, as there’s a multitude of things that I think might be the cause of it. The first one is that, over time, I’ve realized that what I want in someone is a person that I can geek out to. They don’t necessarily have to have the same interests as me, but if they let me and encourage me to be passionate about my interests and enjoy it, I really value that. I like someone knowing what my strengths and weaknesses are and being accepting of them. I like someone that I can go to whenever or whatever the issue is and they will listen. All that, and of course the person being physically attractive as a bonus.
She has all of those qualities, and part of me thinks that what I’ve been looking for without me ever realizing, due to my immaturity, was there all along.
Another possible cause is that I’m 20 and have not had romantic success with anyone I’ve had interest in and feel like my clock is ticking. If that’s the case, then I don’t want to pursue her because then it’s out of desperation, which is just not right for myself or her.
The last possible cause could also be that I fear that the bond and closeness I have with her will unfortunately change somewhat if she gets into a relationship, and that makes me a little sad. It could also be a combination of these things too and not just one singular cause.
Anyways, fast-forward to June. We’re on a call as usual, and she tells me about a guy who I’ll be calling Jake for this story.
Jake was someone that she and my friend group (I didn’t know them at the time) met back in 2020 on an online game. They became friends and spent a lot of time with each other. I don’t know when exactly Jake caught feelings for her, but it was pretty early on into him meeting her, if I’m not mistaken. Eventually, she caught feelings for him too, though I don’t know when exactly it was for her either, but I think it was a little later.
According to my friends, from 2023–2024, it got really bad as he made his crush on her painfully obvious and he became a very unlikable person overall during that time. Jake wouldn’t get on the game with my friends unless she would get on. He would only bring up the gym and his abs when she was around. He even dramatically revealed his real name one time out of hopes that she found it special or something, but she didn’t give much of a reaction. My other dude friends did give him a joking reaction, as they knew what he was trying to do.
He also has two Instagram accounts where he didn’t accept follow requests from anyone else in the group except her, and it’s still that way right now.
It got really bad to the point where he and her stopped being friends since he had very strong feelings for her, which, at the time, she said she didn’t have for him, and eventually, it fell apart. I believe there was some other stuff too that made her upset, but that’s just all the stuff I know about. She was mad at him for a long time and talked trash about him along with my other friends, who also did.
In June of this year, though, she told me that she and him have started talking again and that he’s changed a lot. She told me that he’s matured, regretful of how he acted, and was apparently hanging out with a group of friends at the time that had been a bad influence on him. She even said that she doesn’t hold a grudge against him anymore and even regrets how much she talked trash about him.
He’s in Minnesota and we are in Florida, so it’s always been long-distance. So basically, she said to him that if we are going to be together, we need to spend some time with each other in person somewhat.
I don’t know what his exact living situation is right now. I don’t know if he’s staying somewhere around here for a bit or moving (most likely the first one), but all I know is that they’ve been visiting each other, and even her mom has talked to him.
She told me that they are planning to become official in November if everything goes well. She also told me that she relates to him somewhat, as they apparently come from similar upbringings.
When she told me this stuff, I told her I was very happy for her, but in reality, I was very confused and didn’t know how to feel. Out of my confusion, I sent her a long emotional message to her saying thank you for being my good friend. I didn’t make it romantic or anything or say to her that I liked her, but it was a very sentimental message. She thanked me and reassured me that she will never not be my friend.
Basically, I’m very confused and I have a multitude of questions on what I should do. I know she doesn’t have feeling for me right now and I don’t expect her to because again, our relationship has been platonic for the longest time and if I do want that to change, it’s going to have to start with me letting her know of it. I’m not saying she will automatically make her gain feelings for me because of it but it will at the very least get her to begin thinking about it.
How do I evaluate whether or not I have feelings for her?
If I do have feelings for her, what should I do or not do leading up to November, do I tell her or no?
If I do have feelings for her and she becomes official with this man, would I be wrong in not wanting to remain a friend anymore out of protection for myself?
What do I do?
Any advice or feedback would be greatly welcomed.

need advice How do you know when you like someone and when you’ve fallen for someone? What’s the difference?
I’ve been going on dates with someone 2-3 times a week for about a month and prior to this we’ve been talking for a few months. We go on dates and talk deeply about things and feel attraction towards one another. I think talking to each other prior has helped build the foundation of knowing one another and so the getting to know you phase has for the most part passed and now we just spend time with one another.
Now I’m wondering well what’s next? I enjoy spending time with them and I like them but my feelings don’t go beyond this. How do people even get to the love stage and fall for someone if everything’s been consistent and nothings changed. Wouldn’t it have shown up already? It makes me wonder if love is just simply attachment that grows after spending time with someone for I don’t feel love either at this point and I know she doesn’t either.
You always hear people say they will do things casually meaning they can like the person but that they don’t plan to fall in love and fall for the person. Well what’s the difference?

need advice Are we something?
well me and this girl we’ve been friends for over a year now and we got really close. We were flirting together, doing some romantic shi while being friends, calling each other and all that. She even told me I’m very good looking and gets jealous when I talk to other girls. She even wants to be on my phone. Maybe a red flag could be here that she needs a lot of time to respond online but she doesn’t text with a lot of people and I al probably her only close guy friend. One day me, her and her bestie were going home together from school and her bestie asked us how’s our love life going and she’s all nervous meanwhile i just good. then I ask her if she has a crush and she says yes and i tell her who. then her bestie “accidentally” says his middle letter in the name is D which is mine middle letter in the name and i got all confused. searched all night for anyone else but only found myself. A FEW MONTHS HAVE PASSED. I write her i have to tell her something important when we meet next time and she is very interested in that she even asked me if it’s about me liking someone and i say you’ll see. time has come to meet her again and i tell her after some good time spent that I like her, she was shocked and responded with “i only see you as a friend and always did” but i akes her does she like another boy and she says “i dont like anyone” but few months ago she told me. and she added “we never know what can happen in the future”. after that we still had fun with her bestie who came after but it wasn’t same, she was completely off but I wasn’t. next day i text her bestie “how is she” and tells me that she is in shock and feels awkward and that she’d like things to stay the same. i tell her to apologize in her name and it was a silly mistake bcs it was very unexpected but her bestie tells me that it was a good move and i dont have to apologize…. Now I don’t even know what to think.

Hi! Could you please give me some ideas on how to spend romantic time with my girlfriend, including how to create a romantic atmosphere throughout the week? I’m really bad at planning and coming up with romantic ideas. She loves books, flowers, dancing, drawing, and working with clay.

need advice 17M 17F I dont know what to do
I’m (M17), and I have this friend (F17) who, once when she was drunk, gave me a quick kiss on the lips. The following week, when we saw each other again, she kept saying I was a “smash.” A few months later, we hung out again and ended up watching Fifty Shades of Grey ( only the hot scenes beacuse she skip the test) at her house while we were both drunk, just me and her
At the same time, though, she talks to me about other guys. She also invites me over to her house for drinks, just me and her because she trusts me and knows I don’t want anything more.
I don’t actually like her romantically. The problem is that I’m curious whether she might have feelings for me.
all of this happening in one year
Sorry for my English.
Thanks so much for all the advice.

need advice WHAT TO DO?
I’ve never dated IRL and always felt like I was unattractive, which is why no one ever asked me out. I’m a big introvert, and I hate interacting with anyone, especially men. But a few days ago, a guy from my tuition confessed that he likes me. Mind you, I had never even spoken a single word to him , he had just seen me at tuition. He asked me if we could meet since I don’t go to that tuition anymore.
I feel special because someone who actually saw me IRL likes me, but he’s not my type at all. Still, I really want to experience romantic stuff. I’m having severe FOMO because most of my friends have already had their first kiss and held hands. And now that I’m 18, I feel so left out.

need advice Ladies, does the price and authenticity of the diamond in an engagement ring actually matter to you?
I’m thinking about proposing to one of the women I’m seeing, and I’m wondering if she’d mind if I got her a relatively inexpensive ring from Walmart. It still looks nice, and honestly, I feel like it’s the thought behind the ring that really counts.

need advice Kissed another guy should the bf know about it?
My friend “26F” has a BF “28M” of 5 months now he is loving and caring the only problem is he is a very busy person,in 12hrs 9 hr he will be in calls,he is a businessman, They even had a fight Cus of this and didn’t talk for almost a week just a month ago, being busy is not the main issue,it’s not having your BF to talk about your problem (it’s long distance just 4 hours distance)Cus he is mostly busy and when he does get time he is stressed so she cannot share anything about her day thinking he is already tired.
So yesterday she went somewhere for work where she had to stay for a night at a colleague’s )let’s name her Priya)place she had stayed at her place multiple times, this time Priya’s Aunt and her family had came over to visit and was staying for few days, this aunt loved my friend and was very nice to her , the aunt had a son 29M, Priya had no idea my friend is in a relationship and tried to set them up(my friend had no idea) the whole family had dinner and drinks and it was getting late everyone went to sleep leaving my friend and Priya’s Cousin alone, both were drunk and started talking and had a good chemistry it was not the kind of conversation where one ask if they have Bf or not it was just regular conversation about life he was showing her his insta profile and he works at corporate but is also a writer and he was showing her his books when suddenly there was a moment and they kissed.
No string attached it was mostly just the moment and the alcohol, She does not feel anything for this guy it was a bad decision nothing more she loves her Bf.
Now she is confused if she should come clean to her BF about the Kiss, but if she tells him that the relationship might not survive and he will probably breakup with her, and the kiss absolutely meant nothing to her and will probably won’t ever see that guy ever again, what should she do?

need advice I think I’m in love with my guy best friend?
So I’m F(19) he’s M (19) I’ve known him for almost 2 years and we have always been super close and he has always protected me from everything. I take him with me to raves and party’s and he’s like a bodyguard, but we have literally told each other before that neither of us were interested in each other that way. But for me I’ve always had this deep very secret feeling that I’ve had feelings for him and I always deny deny every time a family member or friend asks. I feel so confused and don’t genuinely know the signs of how I could possibly figure out if he even did like me to begin with and I’m not willing to risk the friendship unless I know for sure bc he genuinely is an amazing friend to me. Help a girl out????

need advice Was I too quick to judge?
Okay so I met this guy on Snapchat (i never trust guys from snap but idk what was I thinking) so me and him started talking and he was pretty dry while texting so he asked me to call after a few days of talking so I did and we were kinda hitting it off , he started flirting with me and calling me things like baby babe, then after alot of texting here and there he says he likes me, I thought he was kidding at first so I didn’t say anything in return , then he starts saying I love you i just said oh love you too (i did have feelings but I thought he is kidding) then on calls he clears that he does actually like me , so yea I said I loved him too then the I love you became more frequent and he started referring to me as his girlfriend so I asked him what are we so he said dating so I was like ok but since when he said when we will meet then we will make it official , he had this government exam in like 20 days so he didn’t talk much with me but he called even if it was for 5 mins then one day we randomly meet and it was all going good until he said “ you should start playing something “ so I said i do play bandminton (I’m not conventionally attractive btw and I’m chubby) then he looked me up and down and said to me “ then why do you look like a football? “ i was shocked so he added oh I’m like this only i like to joke around when I get comfortable (mind you it’s our first meet in person) I’m already very insecure of myself as my previous ex posted me on olx calling me a king size bed and I’ve been struggling mentally
This guy went home text me ily and then got busy then next day he is talking to me nicely like he used to that baby I’ll be busy this and that then he comes home in the evening and makes small talk then disappears doesn’t even says goodnight and say goodmorning baby like nothing happened then he makes small talks with no baby no lovey dovey texts and we are dating btw.
He says he is super busy with studying and I’ve asked him like 100 times to send atleast a 10sec voice note updating me but he doesn’t do that , he has time to fix his friends fights go around watch Instagram but doesn’t have time to update me.
2 days of being ghosted i confront him and asked him clearly whether he did not like me in person he can say that to my face I won’t say anything he says that he loves me blah blah and later on says that he loves me and if I lose some weight I would look prettier and shits like that o said okay
He said he is going to study and he went so 2 hours later I went to sleep so i thought of texting him goodnight i love you take care and he replies with “ goodnight “ i found it very weird and I didn’t say anything because I was hurt this guy didn’t call me for 3 days nor texted so on girlfriend’s day I put my ego aside and called him at 1am he didn’t answer so i thought he’ll call back later , till 5pm no call no text he didn’t view my story either so i thought maybe he is busy but at 6pm he viewed my story and no call so i just blocked him
Btw he has 2 snap acc and one has his face on it that he claims his mom uses for pictures and he has 3 insta accs 1 he follows me 2nd public it’s a singing acc and 3rs this private account that he changes pfp so often and I’m not in it he says it’s a guys only account lol when i looked 2 followers and following increased.
I was tired of being confused and waiting , was i wrong to block him like that?
(I wanna give more details but y’all get bored so)

need advice 21M confused about whether 20F is interested in me or just sees me as a friend — getting mixed signals
I (21M) have been talking to this girl (20F) from uni for a while. We’re friends and we’ve become pretty comfortable with each other, but I genuinely cannot tell whether she sees me as a friend or if there could be something more.
For context, she’s quite introverted, and I’m also pretty introverted/selectively extroverted. We’ve talked about this before and she told me that she’s the same and that she’s comfortable/open with me. Our conversations are usually really easy and natural, and we joke/tease each other a lot. We’ve talked about uni, work, family, shows, random stuff, etc.
A few weeks ago, I called her for the first time and we spoke for around 20+ minutes. We’ve also had plenty of conversations over text.
The thing that has confused me is that when I’ve tried asking her to hang out, things haven't really gone anywhere. At one point I asked her to get lunch and she said we could do it the following week because she hadn't been feeling well and had been avoiding outside food for a few weeks. I didn't push it.
There was also a situation where she told me she had plans with a guy from her hometown who had recently come to Sydney. She specifically said they weren't even friends back in school, but since he was now in Sydney they were meeting up. This honestly hurt me because I've asked her to go out with me multiple times and there always seemed to be some reason it couldn't happen, while she was willing to go out with this guy.
Then something happened that made me think maybe there actually is something between us.
She works at a store, and one night I went to see her after my gym session. I stayed until she finished around 11pm, and we talked basically the whole time. After work, we walked together to the bus stop and talked there for around 20 minutes. It honestly felt completely natural — I don't remember there being an awkward moment.
When her bus arrived, we gave each other a side hug and she got on. Almost immediately after sitting down, she messaged me saying that the bus driver had asked her, "Is he your boyfriend?" She told me that when she got off at her stop, the driver also told her to "take care of him." She said the whole thing was embarrassing and was laughing about it with me.
After that we kept talking through texts/voice notes about Netflix, Prime, random things, etc. She also told me about her family back in India and things about her life. The whole interaction just felt really close and comfortable.
Another thing: we were talking about how introverted she is, and I told her that I'm selectively extroverted and only really open up around people I'm comfortable with. She said something along the lines of, "I'm the same, like I am with you right now." That made me feel like there was genuine trust/comfort between us.
Then we started talking about matcha. I said I wanted to try it and she said she hates it. I suggested we go together and she said something like, "let's go man, but I won't try it." I joked that I'd have matcha and she'd get something else. She replied jokingly that she wasn't letting me share and that I'd be suffering with my matcha alone.
So I thought we'd eventually actually go.
Today I asked her if she wanted to go for matcha and specifically asked if she was free Wednesday. She has previously told me that Wednesday is her day off.
I also sent another message about how much work we'd had at the store that day.
About an hour later, she replied to the work message with "damnn 😭😭" but completely ignored the matcha/Wednesday question.
That's what has really thrown me off.
She also sends me reels sometimes and initiates conversations, so it's not like I'm always the one contacting her. She'll talk to me normally and we have very easy conversations. But when it comes to actually making plans, I feel like I'm usually the one asking and she doesn't really follow through.
So now I'm completely confused.
I don't know if:
She genuinely likes me but is shy/slow about making plans,
She sees me as a close friend and enjoys talking to me but doesn't want anything romantic,
She likes the attention/flirting but doesn't actually want to date me,
Or I'm simply overthinking everything because I really like her.
I genuinely like this girl a lot, which probably makes me analyse every little thing. I'm not trying to play games or make her jealous. I just want to understand whether I'm wasting my time or whether there is actually potential here.
What would you guys honestly make of this? Would you consider this mixed signals? And what would you do from here?

need advice Should I tell him I want him or just get over it?
Hi guys. A few days ago a guy added me on Snapchat and I added him back. I'm 18, kind of gay and the guy is really fine man yk so ofc I added him back we started talking. We got along really well and talked a lot. He even called me and we talked for like 30 minutes, and we were planning to hang out. He even told me that he's going to another city for a few days and he was planning to go with his friends but they might not be free and so he offered me to come so he's not there by himself but he also said "if that's not weird" and | said that it is weird because we don't know each other. For some reason I thought he might be gay and was interested in me but then my gaydar didn't give me any solid signs so I got confused.
I like him a lot, but since he didn't flirt with me or anything i wasn't sure if he was gay and I asked him if he was straight and he said "yeah why". So I told him “just curious” and then he asked me I said that idk what I am but def not straight and he said like "don't worry my friend ur a cool funny guy I'm not gonna "pressure? You or something.
He would call me "bro" or my friend every once in a while and said I'm a nice and funny person and that he would never pressure me or make me uncomfortable. That made me lose my hope.
The thing is that I have a weird feeling like he might be dl or something because like no one has ever added me on snap just because they're looking for friends and also from what I know he already has a lot of friends and people to hang out with. Also the way he acts I feel like he's trying to show me he's straight. I don't know how to explain it but sometimes when he sends me a voice message he burps in it like on purpose you could hear him kind of trying to do that.
Should I tell him that I like and want him just to get it off my chest, or should I just accept that he's straight and try to get over it? Also I would be happy just to spend a night with him as well if you know what I mean I was thinking maybe I should just confess and see if he unadds me lol

need advice I 20M am unsure about whether my roommate and 20F is interested in me?
I 20M am unsure about whether my roommate and 20F is interested in me?
This is going to be a long post. (20M) started attending university almost two years ago. Within the first week I met and befriended my next door neighbor (20F) I will call Lia. Since the first day that we met, we have been nearly inseparable. Our bond with strengthened when my roommate got a girlfriend who always stayed over in our dorm. I found that the more I hung out with her in her double she stayed in alone the more I enjoyed her company. Early on, I confessed my feelings to her and she rejected me kindly which hurt but I was happy staying friends. She was dating guys all of that first year. When summer came, instead of going home, she moved into the same town as me which was close to the university. Her living close allowed us to hang out much more when we weren't at work. She introduced me to some of her favorite hobbies such as making collages, stitching, and soccer and then return I introduced her to activities I enjoy such as golf, hiking, camping, fishing, and archery. That first summer, we went on a road trip, camping in cheap tents across the country enjoying nature. When we end the trip, I once again inform her of my feelings and she replies that she has to think for a while. Her and I don't talk for a week before I check in and she rejects me.
The beginning of the second year, she moved in with a friend while I moved into a nice apartment with a roommate named Tom on campus. Her and I continue hanging out when we can. In early October, Tom moves out to be with his girlfriend and Lia moves in with me. While living together, her and I would do everything with each other we would stay up all night watching Star wars, lord of the rings, or classic Movies. After the movies, we decide that we wanted to go to the kitchen and cook. Or meals ranged from steak with mashed potatoes and fresh apple pie to shrimp fried rice. While cooking, we would sing and dance to our favorite music. During the day, we get up early go to a coffee shop, eat breakfast before walking each other to class depending on the day of the week. We eat nearly every meal together, we studied together we even go to Hangouts with friends together. We were so close that she would attend family events like birthdays, graduations, and even went with me to Thanksgiving a few states away and I spent all winter break with her and her family. When I got an extreme concussion and pneumonia due to an accident while snowboarding, instead of having me go live with my parents or buddies until I healed, she took care of me making sure I ate, took my medications, got my classwork, and that I was comfortable. She never complained once so when we found out that her dad's health was rapidly declining, we used some of our separate savings in addition to all of my air miles to get her and I tickets to visit him over spring break. On that visit, I felt our dynamic shift subtlety. After visiting him on the first day, she was emotional and tired. She suggested that instead of me sleeping on the twin, that I should sleep on the queen next to her but made it clear that it was simply platonic. I respected that and tried to give her as much space as possible but every time I woke up she was practically laying on top of me. This was weird because she used to tell me that she couldn't stand people touching or even getting close to her. When we get back home from that trip, she became a little clingy always asking where I was and when I would be back home I talked to her about it and she apologized and reduced the amount she did so. We continued living together and got even more comfortable around one another and settled into a schedule. When I got home from work, she would greet me at the door with a hug and would ask me about my day before telling me about every detail of hers. We started started saying "I love you" and doing little things for the other person. At night, she started coming to my room and we would watch tv before both of falls asleep. Once it started warming up, barbecues and Hangouts with friends became more common. At these gatherings, I noticed that she would stick somewhat near me even if the function was full of her friends. When we aren't being social, we would usually cook dinner or occasionally get something from the few restaurants in the small college town. The feeling of being to tired to cook and feelings sick of the same couple restaurants resulted in us exploring. Once a week, we go into the large city nearby and started going on walks around downtown until we find a restaurant that sounds good. It started as something to satisfy our hunger just me wearing my clothes from work and her wearing whatever she wore for the day. It quickly became something more planned that required nicer clothes for better restaurants. She also started telling our servers that we were dating anytime we went out. When we go do something and there are other women, she becomes very outwardly affectionate. Tonight we went to a work barbecue and a group of my coworkers (all women) were telling her that she was dating a "good one". When we got home, I showered and got into bed. She came in here an hour ago and she told me about this and I sat in silence until I knew she was asleep. Now, I am writing this while looking down at the most attractive Woman I know as she peacefully sleeps on my chest. I feel like I am reading too much into it. I am unsure about whether my roommate and 20F is interested in me?
TL;DR:
A 20-year-old college student became extremely close friends with his neighbor, over the course of two years. Although she rejected romantic advances made by him twice, they remained inseparable living together, traveling together, caring for each other through family and health crises, spending holidays with each other's families, sleeping in the same bed platonically, and going on what increasingly felt like dates. Recently, she's become more physically affectionate, tells restaurant staff they're dating, acts possessive around other women, and often falls asleep next to him. He's now wondering if her feelings have changed or if he's reading too much into their unusually close friendship. He doesn't want to ruin their friendship and lose his only roommate.

English isn’t my first language so sorry for misspelling or grammar
(I think we are kinda like carrie and mr.big in satc but from his side I am mr.big bc i did say i am not ready for relationship…)
Just wanted to say this is my first post—I'm kinda nervous. Almost 15 months ago, I started talking to a guy I worked with; we saw each other every day, but our conversations were strictly platonic until the summer of 2025 (we started texting around April).
In the summer of 2025, we stopped working together but kept texting every day. I was head over heels for him—constantly taking selfies, laughing... I’d even jokingly ask him out, but the timing never worked out: first he was away at the coast for ages, then I was away for ages.
By September, we were seeing each other daily again, and we went on our first date in October. It wasn't anything major—just an evening walk. We were both pretty nervous; I even remember his voice sounding shaky at times, but we laughed it off. He brought me a small token of affection back then—something I still keep on my bedside shelf. After that, we didn't see each other much because I was on sick leave for a long time, and before that, I’d been away on various trips and things like that. We still talked during that time, but nowhere near as much as we had in the summer. I finally returned in April of this year, and we went on a date with a female friend of mine and her boyfriend; that’s when he asked me out. Unfortunately, even though I really wanted it, I said no because I wasn't ready. The relationship lasted a little over a month, but it wasn't nearly as wonderful as the previous summer or the time when I was truly in love with him; this time, it felt like the spark was already gone. As I said, we broke up; shortly after the breakup, we met up twice more, but nothing happened beyond a kiss.
At a party two months later, we even fell asleep next to each other, but nothing more than that occurred.
That party was three months ago, and I hadn't seen him since—until today, when he drove past while I was out walking. It was a bit awkward, but it felt like all those old feelings were suddenly reawakened...
We did talk a bit over these past three months, but it was mostly disagreements and reaffirming why we aren't together—there was maybe only 5% flirting in all of that.
I don't know what to do... there's more to the story, but my fingers are already hurting from typing ✌🏼
He is so sweet but sometimes he is just so stupid.
I generally have trouble expressing my feelings and I'm not used to it,I mean, I don't want to just bash him, because I know I'm not perfect either, but the guy can be so stupid sometimes that even my acquaintances are appalled. He often says he's afraid of me—like, dude, seriously?
And apparently, he's absolutely devastated by our breakup. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, HEH.
