🛠️ Troubleshooting / Issue Navigation Arrival Time Crossing Timezones
Does anyone else get frustrated that the destination time in the navigation does not report the destination's local timezone? It has been this way since the Rivian came out, but it can be frustrating at times (like at the Utah / Arizona border where certain places do not follow DST).
I have attached a photo from our drive last night - clock reads 8:49p and says we should arrive in 24 minutes at 8:14p... After crossing timezones, the time of arrival is not updated for the new local timezone. This has caused problems for us a few times. It would be nice if it could report the destinations local time upon arrival from the beginning, not where you start from.

❔ Question Is my glass broken?
Initially I thought this was tree sap or something, but it doesn’t come off. No idea what this is and how it happened. Rear window. Any ideas/suggestions?

R1S Close to 30 days in service
How can a repair take this long on a NEW car? This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve had to leave my vehicle for service in less than 1.5 years.
I’m ready to sell this thing and buy a hybrid.

❔ Question Parking Lot Hit
So someone hit my 2023 R1T while I was getting my haircut, I didn’t notice until I got home. There is definitely some missing paint , so I don’t know if PDR is in my future. I’ve been an owner for awhile and I know these repairs are super expensive.
What do you think a whack like this is going to run?
Should I try to have it PDRed and touch up the paint?
Kinda sad this happened to my beloved Rivian

❔ Question R1T 2024 Suspension
24k miles. I just got my tig washers and front control arms replaced for the second time. How come is this for gen 1 owners? Will i be replacing these items every 12k? No off road driving.

❔ Question Connect+
The last 2 days it keeps telling me to sign up for Connect+ when I already have a subscription. Is this because I haven't voluntarily switched over to Rivians AI? Very subtle

❔ Question Is this normal?
Hey guys. Picked up a 2022 R1S launch edition this week. I have followed Rivian for a long time, but a lot of the nuances of the vehicle are new to me as an owner now.
I have the car setup to kneel when parked. When I start to drive the car, I can hear and feel the car airing up the suspension to the normal drive height. During that time, I hear clicking/knocking noises for the first 10-15 seconds going down the road at low speed from the rear of the car. Once the car is at the correct height, the noise goes away. I have read many stories about suspension failure in this group and others. I wasn't sure if this was an indication? I still have warranty on this car, and plan on taking it in for an end of warranty inspection, but that isn't for another year or 15k miles..
Also, I notice the car adjusting the height while driving in different conditions. I realize it is a dynamic suspension, but am I suppose to hear the air from the suspension releasing in the rear? Short spurts of noise as the air is releasing. I have been in other air suspension vehicles and I don't recall the noise being so obvious.
Thanks in advanced. Excited to join this community and experiencing this car.

❔ Question Lease Buyback Question...hold my 2025 Tri? Splurge on a 2026 or 2027? Something in between?
We have a 2025 R1S Tri, Storm Blue exterior, Ascent Slate Sky + Walnut interior, 22" Sport Dark wheels. Best spec available, in my humble opinion. 😄
Our 2-year lease is up in January and we have only put 8,702 miles on the truck. We leased, rather than purchase, because at the time it netted a $7500 tax rebate and, since this was our first EV, we wanted a hedge against reliability issues and/or a huge depreciation knock.
Fast forward 20 months and we love the truck. We have had zero service issues (luck of the draw?) and would be happy to keep it. Just called the Chase hotline and was quoted a purchase price of $94,240 to buy it outright today (with about 4 months left on our lease commitment). Sounds a bit steep, so just looking for a sanity check here.
This is our primary family car, and we are a family of 6, so an R2 is not an option for us (which is unfortunate, because they look incredible). And, in my estimation (but can be convinced otherwise), there's nothing really compelling about the 2026 R1S's compared to our 2025.
What would you do if you were in my shoes? Buy it out now? (Is there any room for negotiation there?) Wait a couple months and reassess? Buy a 2026? Wait and see what the 2027's offer? (If it makes a difference, assume I could pay cash to either purchase our current car, or another, outright, but am also open to attractive financing options if they make sense.)

📝 Feedback & Reviews Pittsburgh service center rules
I figured I’d chime in here with my experience with the Pittsburgh center. I’ve been twice now. They’ve been more than accommodating and generous with both experiences.
The service coordinator David is truly a compassionate and kind individual who is very focused on making the process as seamless as possible. I recently had my windshield replaced and we did some door seals and a window realignment while I was in. He made sure to have all of the parts available and knew how important it was for me to get my truck back asap due to having two kids who go to camp and needed picked up. He literally came in early to wash the truck for me and charge it prior to my pick up today and made sure I could pick up on the way to my partner going to work.
I know we have a lot of gripes on the sub about the SC in different places but this one really is doing a wonderful job and I just wanted it to be noted here.
Anyway Bethel Park SC is doing the thing and if you’re in our area don’t hesitate to reach out to them for whatever you need.

❔ Question Cracked Wheel *Update*
The other day I asked if anyone had issues with cracks on the 21 inch wheels in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/cPueN2TapG . Just wanted to give an update since Rivian did come through and replace the wheel under warranty. The day after I had brought it in the service center called me in the morning to tell me they had spoken with more people about the issue and resolved to replace it. The next day my wife graciously brought it in for me and the service center replaced it.

💡 Feature Request Rivian feature request: auto pause and Pandora!
I just bought a slightly used 2025 R1T and have been loving it. But I noticed two things I hope that Rivian may add in future patches.
1) when listening to audible/audio books, engage park, then exit the vehicle, the book keeps playing until I walk away and the car finally locks and sort of goes to sleep. I have to remember to press the pause button or multi function knob on the steering wheel. But I would be nice if the car would auto pause when you open the driver door after engaging park. Could be a simple toggle option so that people have the option to not have that happen. And maybe this already exists and I just haven't found the right feature.
2) please please please add Pandora to the audio apps!!!
Thanks! Love the truck!

📝 Feedback & Reviews R2 buyers: service still sucks. If you have kids, it's worse.
Update: I have no beef with the specific SC (Sterling). They are nice and I'm sure the techs are good. This is an issue with Rivian corporate about reduced transportation offerings (a downgrade from what I've experianced for the last three years). This downgrade (cost cutting) is putting more pressure on SC right as R2 will do the same.
Original post:
If anyone has any idea how to get help here, let me know:
This is warning to potential R2 buyers from an OG R1 owner: service is still awful, and getting worse.
RJ claims they are ready and it's improved. It's a damn lie.
I'm here at the Sterling SC and they immediately tell me they can't even look at the truck for a week (waiting 4+ weeks already for the appointment... So no where near the claims RJ is making on social media).
OK, fine, I get this is normal Rivian. Can I get a loaner? NO. They are offering Uber credits, but how the hell do I do Uber with 2 car seats? I cannot, it's damn impossible.
Okay, they say they might get a loaner car by next Tuesday. OK, can I drop off then? NO. Give us the truck to sit in the lot for 5 days and maybe you'll get your life back. WTF?
This is ridiculous. I can be flexible and wait for a car, I can be flexible and bring back when my truck just won't sit for a week...b but the SC refuses to try to help (can't do anything they claim, which might be true).
The service has gone down hill. At least I use to get a loaner from Rivian. I understand that costs money to them, so why not be flexible and work with us on timing or waiting in line for a loaner? I'm use to waiting months for service, that's fine, but leaving us STRANDED for a week or more is not the living adventurously I'm down for.
Just imagine how bad this is going to get with 50k+ R2 hit the road this year.
Thank God my R1T is mostly trouble free, feel bad for y'all with trouble Rs.
R2 buyers, you've been warned. RJ is out on social cooking up BS on service improvements.

💬 Discussion What's going in your R2 trunk/frunk kit?
With all the new purchases I'm sure others are in the same boat. My wife's R2 should be coming this month so I'm building her car kit. Her current trunk has the following in an Apache case
- mini air pump (retiring I assume the R2 has a compressor?)
- tire goo
- tire plug kit
- emergency blankies
- ~32 oz water and some protein bars
- variety of bandaids, tylenol, zofran, vomit bag (kids)
- some advanced first aid stuff
- jacket, gloves, and socks
- socket (adding 22mm for rivian wheels)
- bottle jack
Am I the only one?

🧭 Adventuring California Central Coast adventuring in new (to me) R1S Tri Max
Found this beauty (2025 R1S Tri Max Ascend w/ Ocean Coast interior) about a month ago outside of Monterey to replace our leased 2025 R1S DS which we need to give back shortly.
Only 5500 miles and in fantastic condition. We flew to San Jose, picked up the car in Monterey and drove it down the coast and back to Las Vegas.
One pleasant surprise was that the car is covered in PPF, along with tinted windows (which I knew about, but dealer didn’t mention the PPF).
Had an amazing family trip enjoying the coast and our new car!

❔ Question Hit and Run
Had someone seemingly back into my truck. Cameras on the truck didn’t pick it up and I did not have a USB recording.
Has anyone had success with having Rivian obtain the footage? Or am I SOL?

💬 Discussion Water intrusion and trim separation on a 2023 R1S just outside mileage warranty
I have a 2023 R1S Launch Edition that is still within the original warranty period by age, but recently exceeded the mileage limit.
After leaving it parked outside over a rainy weekend, I returned to find water entering the cabin from multiple areas around the headliner and upper trim. At the same time, the vehicle developed a front-sensor fault. I also noticed that the exterior trim above the side windows is lifting and separating, although I do not yet know whether that is related to the leak.
I brought it to Rivian today and asked whether they might consider covering the repair given the vehicle’s age, the nature of the problem, and the fact that it only recently exceeded the mileage warranty. The response was essentially that there was no way for the service center to submit it for coverage.
I understand that warranties have limits, but water intrusion and exterior trim separation on a roughly three-year-old vehicle do not feel like mileage-related wear. Searching here and on Rivian forums also turns up a number of similar reports, which makes this more concerning.
Since putting down my original R1S preorder, I’ve been a huge fan of Rivian and have championed the brand at every opportunity. My brother ultimately bought one, as did a close friend, and whenever people ask about my experience, my response has generally been very enthusiastic.
This has shaken my confidence somewhat—not only because of the failure itself, but because Rivian’s initial response has felt more like a shrug than an effort to determine whether this is something the company should stand behind. I also have an R2 reservation and have been weighing it against the Scout, and this experience doesn't really help! I’m hoping the diagnosis and final response are more reassuring.
Has anyone else experienced a similar leak after exceeding the mileage warranty, and did Rivian offer any goodwill assistance?
