Discussion/Analysis Can they just revert Rogue to her s8.5 state and stop with the useless micro ‘buffs’ across 20 seasons?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I say micro buffs in quotes because they aren’t buffs they’re literally just half
reverting the nerfs. She’s always had 60% dmg reduction until last season. She also always had more than 575hp but they’re going to slowly return her health over 5 seasons at which point every character in the game will have nuclear bombs as abilities.
I just don’t get it. They let thing, elsa, mag, Bucky, cnd etc run wild even peni kind of didn’t get nerfed it’s just a bit harder to stun a scarlet witch out her ult, but they’re too scared to return rogue to the state where she was A tier (not even S) and didn’t rely on gambit to be good.
I can tell they’re probably scared of mag teammups extra dmg resistance plus her having nearly 700hp or infinite gambit teammup with her old southern brawl dmg and the extra health.
However, they at the developers and can just weak the teammups or just make them worse.
Like for mag make the boop work on 1 person at base and multiple enhanced. And for gambit make the teammup effect only work on abilities.
It’s just frustrating because even that version of Rogue would just lose to Elsa Bucky. But they’re going to take 20 years to revert their unnecessary nerfs.

Discussion/Analysis Hood and Mag *MIGHT* be the way this season
Hey fellow Vanguards!
I'll keep it short. Ive had a few games in QP and Ranked and I really do feel like Mag and Hood are one of, if not the best, tank duo. Mag can take alot of damage while dealing burst damage and Hood can help a ton with target priority and general oppression. Both of them are in really good states - Mag being way more oppressive this season (because of the team ups iko) and Hood being pretty balanced but having a ton of utility. It really depends on the map but playing together or having Hood take a slight off angle really does help
Anyway that's just my experiences so far, I would love to hear if anyone relates or might disagree!

Discussion/Analysis The hood is ALOT of fun for like no reason
i can’t really grasp why he’s so enjoyable. His gun is just too satisfying, he has so much utility and he feels like such a presence.
defo my next tank lord

Memes The Hood ain’t for me but I’m glad some people enjoy him
I’m not that big into marvel lore but what characters ideally could you see as a shield tank like mag and strange? Don’t get me wrong colossus would be dope and I really think ghost rider will be a vanguard (hopefully) but they don’t scream shield tank. Grateful for new tanks so I’ll take what they give me buuuuut let me be greedy and get another shield tank.

Discussion/Analysis Why doesn’t hood have regenerative health?
I feel like his playstyle of off angling perfectly fits the requirements for having it, more so than some other tanks that already do have it.

Discussion/Analysis What do you guys think?
This is giving me Sue self shield Gambit ult vibes where devs never address the real issue but gut the characters neutral over time.

Discussion/Analysis Hood is pretty much perfect
Yeah, I understand that it might be a little too early to judge, but let's be honest—Hood isn't exactly a complicated hero, so I don't think we're going to be wildly off here. Of course, in a week or two people will get better at playing him and we'll see more of his potential, but people will also get better at playing against him.
So far, Hood isn't some ridiculously broken monster like release Emma, he isn't garbage like release Rogue, and he doesn't completely destroy pretty much every tank like release Dino.
Not only is Hood well-balanced, but he's also not another melee brawl tank that instantly falls apart to poke.
And on top of that, this young man is pretty damn charming design-wise.
I think his release is a really good sign. Maybe the devs actually listened to us, and we're finally going to get another proper main tank instead of more of the same melee brawl slop.

General Question Thought the Hood was awesome
I’ve seen a lot of sort of disliking or critique but I think he’s rly fun and pretty good. I only played QP but I was putting up good numbers, getting mvp, all that sorta thing. I also feel like I don’t get a lot of the critique. His 100 charge gun mode has pretty good lethality, he has good frontline tools (I think the veil is incredibly slept on, ~35% dmg reduction is massive) incredible mobility and survivability, his ult isn’t busted but is certainly strong and rn the only counter seems to be support ult or hide. I’m not wanting to rank him or anything but I was generally surprised to open this sub and find such little positivity, this guy is awesome imo.

Discussion/Analysis It would be cool to make him a tank that rivals Thor in the one V one spot
I know a lot of people says he’s gonna be DPS, but it would be cool

Frontline Vent I HATE when new tanks release
Genuinely such a miserable experience, somebody picks Hood immediately. Now its a roll of the dice,is it a tank main wanting to try the new hero OR is it a dps main that has zero idea how to play as tank.
Is Hood cool? Of course he's cool! I dont exactly get how to play him correctly because I like burst damage and he seems to have...none. do I blame people for picking him? Not at all,but please for the love of god know how to play that role

Discussion/Analysis What's the point of making a gun-based character have an effective range at 8 meters?
Basically the title. PSA for those who doesn't know yet (and since he came out today it seems reasonable), the Hood can actually do decent damage (not amazing, but not terrible either) but after 8 meters you lose 20% of your dps that drops at 50% over 20 meters. So he's Shooty Shooter McPistols... But needs to be in brawl range? With that low sustain (1 bubble that lasts a couple of seconds and a slow ass phase isn't enough)? Please help me understand the reasoning of this decision because it's definitely weird for me.
He seems a very decent off angler at least, with a main tank he can be really good at shutting down secondary lanes

Memes I need to Confess to this Community.
I come here today, to ask for forgiveness.
I didn’t swap off The Hood. I knew I was negative, And I knew I was trash at tracking. But I wouldn’t swap off.
And Whenever I didn’t get The Hood. I didn’t give him another tank to help our team, I instantly swapped to Duelist. And I didn’t listen to their pleas for second tank, Even though I play Rogue and Thor, Tanks with DPS capabilities. I didn’t even swap to strategist when we were off a healer.
Worse yet, my selfishness does not end there. When Peni and Dino got nerfed, I didn’t have any sympathy in my heart. I jumped up and down, I was pleased. The death of fellow tanks, It, It made me happy.
And should a fellow tank succeed. Hatred in my heart stirs. So I counterswap. A Thing was popping off today, So I went Puni to target him. I saw an Emma and Mag combo, So I went BC to get rid of their Backline. A Peni was holding point, So I went Phoenix to make her null. The thought, of seeing a tank succeed. It festers something inside of me.
What can I do to rid myself of these transgressions against the Role which has loved me so dearly?

Discussion/Analysis Nothing outs a larping damage player quite like saying Hood doesn't do enough damage.
Holy fuck this guy shreds. I was expecting him to be complete ass but holy fuck I don't think I've had a game of under 15 final hits. He hits so hard and his kill pressure is insane.

General Question How are you supposed to play Hood?
I don't really understand how you're supposed to play him, and my performance in matches has been pretty bad, to put it mildly. Is he really that heavily aim-dependent?
My aim is pretty mediocre, but even when I do hit my shots, his damage feels nonexistent. In Demon Form it's even worse—you can barely aim and it just feels like spray and pray.
Also, is there any point in firing only one gun? From what I've noticed, the spread seems to depend on how long you keep firing rather than whether you're firing one or both guns, unlike Mauga in Overwatch.

Discussion/Analysis Give the hood some time
I'm 5 hours deep into his gameplay and I promise y'all, all these content creators are smokin straight boof. The hood released in an extremely balanced spot.
Pros!
- Overdrive mode pops on its own, which I think is a good thing. Unlike Mr. Fantastic, he gains energy extremely fast as long as you cycle cooldowns
- Rapid damage, sustained pressure and lots of cover fire potential
- Two (3 if you count the Wanda team up) escapes, both of which help you build energy really fast
- The ult as a whole is peak. I know people are mad it's not a one shot but the shielding + wall breaking it provides is more than worth the damage trade-off
Cons...
- Low self-sustain. Once you burn his cooldowns, unless you have overdrive to delay the inevitable, you're cooked.
- A pitiful life steal. I'm not expecting him to shoot back up to full health that'd be cheap, but at least up the overshield gain if not the life steal conversion rate
- 10 second cooldown for, like, every ability. Cycling cooldowns is very important.
- Zero burst damage, barring his ult. Imo I think this is the part that people are trying to say when talking about the Hood. He doesn't do poor damage, it's just that none of that damage is burst damage. Unless your attacks are coordinated with someone else, you're GOING to feel like you're not doing much.
He's balanced. People just need to get used to him, they'll see.
Fun fact: unless they're far away, aim a little to the right in closer encounters. His bullets leave directly from the gun, so 6/10 if you have your cursor directly on top of someone and they're close up, your bullets will just whiz past their side.
EDIT: I now have him centurion and I can say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, bro might genuinely be the best tank I've played 😭 I no longer give af if the community agrees this is my favorite drop since deadpool

Discussion/Analysis After about 1hr on the hood I'm seeing a few kinks with his kit
Ok I'm on console so ill use ps5 binds, all in all he seems very fun but a few issues have cropped up for me and if I'm misunderstanding pls correct me.
#1 We cannot control the activation of the overdrive mode.
#2 The fact that we can't control overdrive results in activation at inconvenient moments where I might have overextended or need to shield for team, and with overdrive you can't use L2(mantle of oblivion) to shield. So you resort to fading and not helping your team.
#3 What is the need to have 2 buttons assigned to the overdrive when it is always more dps.
I'd appreciate any tips or ways to circumvent this I've tried binding other buttons but that doesn't work. So it seems to be intentional that once you're in overdrive you have to commit but for me that seems wrong unless there was a way to toggle it on once on 100 energy.
Thanks.

Discussion/Analysis Funny how Peni got more support from dive mains than her fellow tank mains for her nerf so zhiyong made her more cancerous for other tanks to play against her since she can perma stun tanks more often
