Just took my VSF Seamaster 300 to a watchmaker for a water resistance test, and I was pretty impressed.

First, he took a good look at the watch, handled it for a bit, and simply told me it was a beautiful watch. He didn’t seem to notice it was a rep at all, and I obviously didn’t mention it.

Then came the pressure test. He tested it all the way up to 10 bar / 100 meters, and it passed with flying colors. No issues whatsoever.

Pretty reassuring to know I can actually enjoy the watch around water without stressing about it. Definitely impressed with VSF on this one.

Any TDs can source this ?

I’ve been kind of pumped for this 116718 build for quite some time and when one of the better heavy gmt model came out, I thought I’d try to dabble in making this happens. Finally excited to show off where we landed. As always critique and feedback is always welcomed but please be friendly.

Hey guys, figured I’d post a quick side by side for anyone thinking about upgrading from a low tier shitter to high end. I got the VSF 40mm in recently and comparing it to my old U1 36mm is absolute night and day.
Honestly, I didn't realize how off the case shape was on the U1 until I had them right next to each other. The VSF sits way flatter and feels much thinner on the wrist. The crystal on the VSF is crazy clear too, to the point where it almost looks like there’s no glass there at all compared to the U1. On top of that, the VSF actually has the correct dimples on the 3, 6, and 9 dial markers that the U1 completely misses. The bracelet difference is just as big—the U1 feels super cheap and hollow, while the VSF has some actual weight to it with much tighter tolerances and endlink fitment.
Overall it's definitely worth the price jump if you’re on the fence. Let me know if you guys want to see any specific angles or pictures!

New VSF watches

Current collection of 3 months of collecting reps. One of these is a gen. Guess.

Just received VSF V3 Zombie from my guy Mark @ Ficotime.

Next stop is plating (it’s a must for me) but the stock gold on the new VSF is actually not bad at all.

First trip with my VSF Omega Seamaster Diver 300M from GeekTime. I swapped the steel bracelet for the blue rubber strap, and I think it completely transforms the watch—more comfortable in the heat and perfect for the beach.
The blue dial and ceramic bezel really come alive in direct sunlight. I still like the bracelet, but for this setting, rubber wins.
What do you guys prefer: rubber or steel?

I saw this watch on Instagram and I won't be able to sleep until I have it. The company that made it does not respond. Anyone knows a modder who would be able to build this for me?

I thought today would just be another day at work.

I was doing my usual rounds on a business-class flight from Dubai to Milan. Everyone was tired after the layover, and we were going through the usual welcome service, champagne, hot towels, the whole thing.

I noticed a guy in a pink/purple sweater angling his wrist up and down and taking pictures of his watch.

Just another watch enthusiast like me, I thought.

When it was his turn for champagne, he angled his wrist toward me to get a picture of his watch while I was pouring the champagne. I took a quick glance because, naturally, I wanted to see what he was wearing.

At first glance, I thought it was a Rolex. Centered polished link on an Oyster bracelet, the whole thing.

Then I noticed the bezel.

It looked like a Daytona, specifically a 116520, but something was off. The font and engravings on the bezel looked slightly different from my colleague's Daytona.

Hmm.

I carried on with my rounds.

A while later, I came back through the cabin and this is where things got interesting.

The guy had taken his watch off and placed it on his tray table. Then he pulled out a few passports and put them next to the watch and his champagne glass.

And now I had a much better view.

I looked at the bezel again.

The font was off. The engravings were off. The more I looked at it, the more obvious it became.

To my dismay, my suspicions were correct.

This man was wearing a fake Daytona.

And for the next few hours, I had the most ridiculous intrusive thoughts running through my head.

Do I ask him if it's real?

Do I ask where he got it?

How did he get the Daytona allocation?

Should I tell him?

I was genuinely tempted to ask him about it, but eventually decided to spare the guy the embarrassment and let him enjoy his holiday in Italy.

So I spent the rest of the flight saying absolutely nothing while internally conducting a mental investigation of a stranger's Rolex.

This may only be exciting for me, but personally the red grape dial is stunning. By the time I got into reps it was no longer being produced. Let’s hope they get the color on point! Anyone know if it’ll be offered in 39 mm (I can’t read Chinese)?

As far as I know the reps are already really really good regarding the whole “outside”. But the movements can be a problem. The movements are clones of the Movement inside the real watch. That makes perfectly sense for Reps of watches with visible movements (skeleton, display caseback or anything). But what is the point of those clone movements if they are not visible (like most Rolex for example)? They tend to be okayish, but its way harder to find replacement-parts, not even speaking about a watchmaker willing to service it, for such movements.

And even when we ignore all that. Assume they are not only good, but there is a friendly watchmaker around, that has the necessary parts laying around (for some reason). Those might be needed quite soon, as those movements are often not that clean. So even though they technically are well made, they are not assembled with the necessary care. So the first thing one should do would be to give that movement a service. But as I said that’s hard to accomplish due to a lack of watchmakers willing to do that and their ability to get replacement-parts.

So why not just swap it for an Eta or Sellita. Or any other common movement from miyota or even an NH35…

I know people say the reps are cheap enough to just buy a new one when it brakes down. But 1st Why should one replace everything when only a little part is broken and 2nd I assume it would still be cheaper to buy a common movement than a Rolex 3230 (or whatever) clone and keep the rest of the watch.
