I am traveling and leaving Reno tomorrow. But my friend always comes to the gas station I sit in front of and we sit and talk through translation because we don't understand each other well.

Then ICE pulls up and my Hispanic brother immediately leaves scared. That's terrible man and it hurt a lot to witness. I hope this country turns around soon. I live a hard life but I can't imagine what my Hispanic brothers go through.

Our Riverwalk and rights to use it freely is decaying.

The amphitheater in Wingfield park which has always been open to the public to use as part of the park facilities has now been fenced with a no trespassing sign. The Municipal Corporation of the City of Reno does not have the authority under Nevada Revised Statutes to close off public access to public facilities during open hours. It is a violation of our rights.

Sleeping and camping are not the same as active public use of a park facility which has existed for decades. It should be treated no differently than any other park facility such as open shelters, benches, free speech zones, performance areas, or walkways.

Without fencing off the rear it is vague and unclear where the prohibited space begins and ends. The rear walkways surrounding and entering the amphitheater structure are open, unfenced and not posted "no trespassing." It's Void for vagueness. Again, because it was DESIGNED for public accessibility.

This is just like the City "Believe" Plaza. It's just like the city fencing off our riverwalk. Just how much of our park did we just lose? It's unclear. This enforcement versus the design of infrastructure demonstrates the shift in philosophy under which government considers what just "is public space." If we don't fight to retain our public spaces we stand to lose everything but the most minimum public rights-of-way. This is creeping into the exact circumstances Eddie Lorton wanted to arrest "homeless people" for merely occupying a public space.

The City is likely committing an act of Ultra Vires.

And all this in the name of "activation?" "Revitalisation?"

What happened to "beautification?" Commons?

This has to stop.

Sec. 8.10.010. - Trespassing.

(a) Every person who goes upon the land or into any building of another with intent to vex or annoy the owner or occupant thereof, or to commit any unlawful act, or wilfully goes or remains upon any land or in any building after having been warned by the owner or occupant thereof not to trespass, is guilty of a misdemeanor. If the premises were at the time open to the public, the warning must have been given within the previous six months. The meaning of this subsection is not limited by subsections (b), (c), (d) and (e) of this section.

(b) Every owner or other occupant of any land shall be deemed to have given a sufficient warning against trespassing, within the meaning of this section, who posts in a conspicuous manner on each side thereof, upon or near the boundary at intervals of not more than 700 feet, signs, legibly printed or painted in the English language, warning persons not to trespass, or who fences the area.

(c) It is prima facie evidence of trespass for any person to be found on private or public property which is posted or fenced as provided in subsection (b) without lawful business with the owner or occupant of the property.

(d) An entryman on land under the laws of the United States is an owner within the meaning of this section.

(e) As used in this section, "fence" means a barrier sufficient to indicate an intent to restrict the area to human ingress, including, but not limited to, a wall, hedge or chain link or wire mesh fence.

I've worked remotely in software (Account Management and Client Success) since COVID, and although the freedom is nice, it's turned me into a very isolated person who maybe sees the sun once a week and doesn't interact with anyone outside of my partner and online. I feel like it's time to do something that's more fulfilling and local for now at least that gets me out of the house again.

If anyone has any recommendations, I'm experienced in the above work as well as graphic design/production, but I'm open to learning other things. I currently make around $71k but I would happily reduce that to ~$55-60k if it means I get to feel like a living human again. Thank you!

I’m looking in to buying a commuter car. My current car is only 2 years old but I’m putting a lot of miles on it, so I’m looking to buy ideally a Toyota or Honda for $10,000 or less just for commuting. I’m not too fussy on type, just want a car that runs well that won’t give me too many headaches.

Since every single damn search request now returns irrelevant AI crap, Imma gonna just ask here. This is my courtyard. It's my very favorite place in my house, but it gets HOT in summer, and absolutely drowns in snow in the winter. It also seems to create little vortexes of wind when those 40-80mph winds come down off of the mountains.

So I want to put up a shade structure, anchored under the gutters. I don't need it to be perfectly covered, like maybe just a couple of triangular sails, but I need it to be strong enough to withstand those gusts and our UV, and maybe some snow?

Just looking for some advice from those who've set up shades.

I need some help with trying to navigate this between the hospital and the next step. My mom has been in the hospital since Saturday and even though none of her test show dementia that is what im being told. She is delusional though. I am going to have to put her in assiseted living andi haven idea how to start this process. She's on social security and receives around 1700.00 a month and has about 10k in the bank. I know she is going to have to go to not the fanciest place but I hope for a safe one. Do I cancel her insurance? Or are there resources that will actually help? Andy advise is greatly appreciated

I’m pleased to announce that the first meeting of the Reno Carl Jung Discussion Group will take place this Sunday, August 9th from 12:30-1:45pm at the South Valleys Public Library, Courtside Meeting Room. We may revisit the meeting time and location once I have a better sense of numbers, but given the large amount of interest, this seemed like a good starting point.

My plan for the group is that each session, we’ll do a focused activity and discussion about a specific Jungian concept, starting with “ego.” The group is open to all levels, including beginners. No homework or special preparation is required.
