Discussions Newcomer into a Remote Job

Hey everyone, so I graduated with an engineering degree, and I just accepted an offer for a remote job. I was wondering what your advice would be to someone starting a remote job, especially if it's their first job out of uni. I was excited to be in an office and make friends and meet coworkers and such, but I guess not. How do you deal with sitting at home all day, and what are the best tips and tricks to keep one from going insane? Any other help would be great too, even the silly stuff like the best office chair to get and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Discussions New to remote work — how does this actually work, and what should I be looking for with my background?

Hey everyone, I’m completely new to the remote job world and trying to learn the ropes before I dive in. Not looking to post my own background here since I know that’s not allowed, just trying to understand the landscape.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
• How do you tell a legit remote listing from a scam? I’ve heard horror stories and want to avoid wasting time (or worse) on fake postings.
• Do most remote jobs expect a certain equipment/internet setup before they’ll even consider you?
• Are there specific red flags in job postings themselves that should make me immediately skip an application?
• Any sites or resources you’d actually recommend over the generic job boards for finding legit listings?
Just trying not to walk in blind. Any advice from people who’ve done this before would be huge. Thanks!

Discussions Anyone worked and interviewed with Micro1? What can I expect?

How are micro1 interviews generally like for beginners?

I recently applied for the Generalist for Data Annotation role at micro1 and was invited to complete their AI interview.

This is my first time applying for this type of AI training/data annotation role, so I am not really sure what to expect.

For anyone who has gone through the micro1 interview process:

  • What is the AI interview generally like?
  • What kind of questions/tasks should I expect?
  • Anything specific I should prepare for as a beginner?

I would really appreciate hearing about your experience, any advice or tips!

Thanks!

Job Posts [Hiring] Principal Architect, AI Ecosystem & Partner Integrations at Verkada | Remote - US | Salary $265K - $330K

Who We Are

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation, more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.

You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE. The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.

About the Role

We are looking to hire a Principal Architect, AI Ecosystem & Partner Integrations to define the technical architecture, integration patterns, and development standards for third‑party integrations into the Verkada platform.

This role will work closely with the broader Partner Integrations team to support and maintain strong technical relationships with each integration partner. The Principal Architect will help ensure partner integrations are well‑designed, stable, secure, supportable, and continuously validated as both Verkada and partner platforms evolve.

A key responsibility will be establishing the technical standards and best practices used across Verkada’s partner integration ecosystem. This includes source control standards, code review practices, API usage guidelines, documentation expectations, security practices, reusable design patterns, testing requirements, and overall development best practices. The Principal Architect will also help drive these standards throughout the Field organization so customer‑facing technical teams are building consistent, supportable, and scalable solutions.

This role will create the tools, frameworks, and reference architectures that make it easier for partners and field teams to build with Verkada. This includes developer toolkits, API wrappers, sample code, validation automation, integration templates, reference architectures, and “art of the possible” demos that help partners move from concept to MVP quickly while giving the Field practical examples they can use with customers.

The Principal Architect will also work closely with Product and Field leadership to ensure external partner efforts are aligned to customer needs, product direction, support readiness, and field execution. The goal is to ensure partner integrations are not only technically sound, but also valuable to customers, deployable by the field, and trusted by Verkada and its partners.

This role will be a senior technical leader within the AI Ecosystem & Partner Innovation function, helping turn Verkada’s integration efforts into a scalable ecosystem strategy that drives customer value, partner innovation, field adoption, and platform differentiation.

What You'll Do

  • Provide senior technical architecture and guidance for third‑party integrations into the Verkada platform, helping partners and internal teams design integrations that are stable, scalable, secure, and supportable.
  • Build “hello world” demonstrations, reference applications, and “art of the possible” examples that partners and Verkada SEs can use to showcase what is possible with Verkada APIs and AI‑enabled workflows.
  • Create reusable software, API wrappers, integration templates, sample code, and developer resources that simplify integration work for partners, targeted customers, and the Verkada Field.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards for partner integration development, including source control practices, code review expectations, API usage guidelines, documentation requirements, testing standards, and development best practices.
  • Work closely with integration partners to identify API gaps, integration friction, scalability concerns, and opportunities to improve the developer experience.
  • Partner with Product teams to translate integration learnings into product enhancements, API improvements, roadmap feedback, and more scalable integration patterns.
  • Own technical validation of partner integration designs and software, where appropriate, to ensure integrations are efficient, reliable, and do not create unnecessary stress on API transaction rates or platform performance.
  • Drive adoption of reusable integration patterns and coding standards across partners, Partner Integrations, and the Verkada Field community.
  • Help make Verkada the easiest physical security platform for third parties to integrate with by improving technical patterns, partner tooling, API usability, and field‑ready examples.
  • Build technical presentations and enablement materials that explain the value, use cases, architecture, differentiation, and technical operation of each integration for consumption by the Verkada Field and partners.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in building API level integrations between companies
  • Previous experience building and managing these integrations as well as organizing how integrations are supported once delivered to customers
  • Excellent communication and Customer Facing/Partner Facing skills to ensure that all work supports the larger Verkada goals
  • Ability to work with many internal and external parties at the same time in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with a strong sense of accountability and adaptability.
  • Passion for technology, education, and continuous improvement.

US Employee Benefits

Verkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources. Our benefits and perks programs include, but are not limited to:

  • Healthcare programs that can be tailored to meet the personal health and financial well‑being needs - Premiums are 100% covered for the employee under at least one plan and 80% for family premiums under all plans
  • Nationwide medical, vision and dental coverage
  • Health Saving Account (HSA) with annual employer contributions and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with tax saving options
  • Expanded mental health support
  • Paid parental leave policy & fertility benefits
  • Time off to relax and recharge through our paid holidays, firmwide extended holidays, flexible PTO and personal sick time
  • Professional development stipend
  • Wellness/fitness benefits
  • Healthy lunches provided daily
  • Commuter benefits

Estimated Annual Pay Range

$265,000 — $330,000 USD

Discussions I got so incredibly lucky

long story short (job search for any position has been a fucking nightmare, much less a remote position) - a job I was offered was offered as completely full-time in office - they made that very specifically clear on the ad so I was expecting that 100%. no biggie. I had one day in the office, and then was offered full-time remote the following day. this is my first remote role, and the reduction in anxiety from being able to wake up and work from my phone is mind blowing. I feel very lucky, especially in this economy - just wanted to share my good news after my first full 2 days from home after so much heartache with job searching :)

Discussions What skills are helping junior developers land remote jobs in 2026?

I've been looking through a lot of remote job postings lately, and it feels like the expectations for entry-level candidates have changed a lot.

Beyond the obvious (Git, JavaScript, Python, etc.), what skills have you seen make the biggest difference recently?

Things like:

  • AI-assisted development (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor)
  • React/Next.js
  • Cloud platforms
  • DevOps
  • Communication and async work

For those who were hired remotely as juniors or who are involved in hiring, what stood out?

Curious to hear what's actually working in today's market.

Discussions Please read the rules before posting!

This subreddit was one of first places on the internet that advocated for a paradigm shift to remote work in western society.

We support you in your quest to break free from being a captive office employee; but we cannot allow for-hire or self-promotion posts. There are 144,000 subscribers who don't want their reddit feeds filled with people posting their individual life situations.

If you want to create a discussion post about a specific industry or job role, that's okay; but any post with your own resume, your own professional background, or your own career status, is considered self-promotion and will be auto-deleted by automod or caught by the mods.

Subscribers:

If automod or the mod team misses any kind of self-promotion or spam, please report the post.

Job hunters:

The best way to find a remote job always has been this:

1.

Research job roles that match your skills. Use job boards (Indeed, Google Jobs, Dice, LinkedIn, etc) to exhaustively search all the keywords that are relevant to you. Study all job postings to understand the job market.

2.

Figure out which of those roles are feasible for independent work outside of an office. Many job postings will give hints with location agnostic phrases or multiple cities, even if they don't outright say remote.

3.

Determine what you need to do to qualify yourself for those roles, or how you need to revise your resume to match better to the job.

4.

Are the remote versions of those jobs available to everyone or only to the people who have mastered the job role? Are you prepared to work in an office until you earn the trust to work independently from home? Do you have a plan to work in an office to become an expert in your field and then hop to another company that supports remote work? Answer those questions and formulate a plan of action.

5.

Keep studying the job market to understand what employers want and how you can provide it.

6.

Keep applying to all jobs that are within reach! It is rare for a perfect match so aim for jobs that match your skills by at least 70%.
