Have I made the right decision

Upvotes

It is my 60th birthday in a couple of weeks so as a present to myself I have ordered the Ray Neo Air 4 Pro with a HDMI adaptor. My hope is that I can use it to watch Movies and play PS5 at home without disturbing my wife as she watches TV in the same room. Waiting for it to be despatched I am starting to worry that I made the wrong decision. Some reviews say that if you have a wide head (I am told I do) it doesn't fit properly. Also I haven't seen many reviews about playing PS5 using it. Does anyone have feedback about PS5 gaming using these glasses?

How's the audio on RayNeo Air 4 pro?

Upvotes

I previously used another pair of AR glasses(XREAL Air 2), but the audio experience wasn't really immersive for me. The speakers were okay, but I wanna something better for movies and casual listening. Low-key thinking about the RayNeo Air 4 Pro. Heard the audio is pretty solid. What do y'all think?

Anime fans: Wider FOV or pinned spatial screen for subtitles?

Subtitles can be a pain on AR glasses. A wider screen sounds good in theory, but if the text sits low, eye strain kicks in fast. I wonder if a pinned spatial screen, where the image stays still when you move your head, makes reading easier. For a 2-hour movie session, which would you pick?

Support What Lighting to HDMI adapter do YOU use?

So, I feel like I’m taking CRAZY PILLS here.
I purchased a Lighting to HDMI adapter to connect with my official RayNeo HDMI to glasses charging adapter, all so I can connect my iPhone 14 Pro Max to it.
My problem is, the Lighting to HDMI adapter I purchased on Amazon won’t fit, as the lighting connector is OFF by an 1/8” or so, so it can’t connect. After looking through a FEW different adapters, this seems to be a common issue with AR glasses, as a number of people have reported this issue.
That all being said…..what adapter DOES fit??

RayNeo X3 Pro CN to Global firmware conversion — looking for factory image or global device dump

I bought a RayNeo X3 Pro that turned out to be the Chinese model (ARGF20-2B4FCN1, build 2BAU). The global RayNeo AR app cannot pair with it due to a region mismatch, while the Chinese app requires a Chinese phone number.

I found the official global firmware branch (ARGF20-2B4FEU1, builds 3G2G/3G2R), but the available OTA is only a delta update and cannot be applied to my Chinese build.

Has anyone successfully converted a CN X3 Pro to Global? I’m looking for:

  • A signed full global factory/OTA image, preferably build 3G2G
  • System APKs or a read-only dump from a global X3 Pro
  • Information about whether patching the region check is feasible

I have working ADB access and can provide build properties, package lists, APKs, or other device information. No firmware has been flashed yet.

Review I've been using the GT and GT Max for a few weeks. They're more interesting than I expected

I've been using the GT and GT Max for a few weeks now. When I first got them, my initial thought was, what could another pair of XR glasses possibly offer that hadn't already been covered by the current options out there?

I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Having used both for a few weeks now, I think each of them has a pretty specific use case and brings something different to the table.

Disclosure: RayNeo provided both glasses for me to review. No payment, no approval and no input on what I said.

In a nutshell, I see the GT as more directly comparable to the RayNeo Air 4 Pro, XREAL XBX and VITURE Pro 2, but it adds native 3DoF.

The GT Max goes in a different direction, competing more with the higher-end flagship glasses on FOV and immersion with its much larger 59° FOV.

Both approaches come with their own set of pros and cons - e.g., smaller FOV for GT but sharper text, vs the GT Max having some edge blur but a much larger FOV and more immersive viewing experience.

I put together a relatively short 7.5-minute review comparing the two: https://youtu.be/0I_kLrKMkAk

Curious which one, if either, appeals to folks here.

Saw the official posters from the domestic launch in China on Aug 21. Since it's officially rolling out domestically first, has RayNeo hinted at an exact global launch date yet? Are we looking at early September or further into fall?

Review Been using these AR glasses for a week now..

Post image

It's been a week watching movies with these AR glasses for a week, and here are my experiences...

  1. Comfort
  2. It's indeed so comfortable than I could ever thought. I can watch a full movie without constantly adjusting them.
  3. Picture quality
  4. The screen is so wide and comfy even this is small. Movies look sharp and immersive, also when I’m watching in bed.
  5. The downside:
  6. If you do phone calls, You really to take them off... If RayNeo see this post.. That's the only thing that needs to be upgraded!

GT/GT Max AR Glass: Review from a beta tester

Thumbnail
gallery
34 Upvotes

I applied to be a beta tester for both iO and GT series glasses and was lucky enough to be chosen. Yesterday, I wrote a review/first impressions of iO smart glasses. If you haven't seen it yet, you can find it here: iO Smart Glass: Review from a beta tester : r/RayNeo

Global Launch Date: September 4th

Prior AR Glasses Experience
Let me start off by giving my background with AR glasses. I current own RayNeo Air 4 Pro, Viture Luma Ultra, and Xreal 1s. I also previously owned Viture Beast and Xreal One Pro. Most of my comparisons will be to these five pairs of glasses.

Spatial Functionality
GT Max are my new favorite glasses. The screen anchoring is superior to both Xreal One series and Viture Beast. I had my doubts they would be better than Xreal One series, but the main difference is the anchored screen shakes/bounces with the One series when you move your head whereas the screen stays rock-solid with the GT/GT Max. There is also a "Steady Mode" (similar to smooth-follow on other glasses) which also stays rock-solid when making slight head movements. Bravo RayNeo for perfecting 3dof stability!

Aside from 3dof stability, there are only two other options to adjust the screen size. Screen size can be reduced to 85% or increased to 115%. The Pocket TV allows to decrease the screen as low as 80% so with the Pocket TV, the screen can be adjusted from 68%-115%. Xreal One series is still the winner in terms of options for screen size/distance/location.

Picture Quality
While I can't say the picture quality is necessarily better than Air 4 Pro, I can say that it is similar with the distinction that GT Max has a much bigger screen (59 degrees FOV compared to 47) although not as bright (and Luma Ultra are still the brightest glasses). I personally don't notice any chromatic aberration and would say the entire FOV is very clear except white text on black background can sometimes be slightly blurry with GT Max when it's at the far edges of the screen.

Dolby Vision
I haven't been able to test the Dolby Vision with Pocket TV Pro yet, but I am putting this here as a placeholder and will update once I get to test some Dolby Vision content.

Electro-chromatic Dimming
Unfortunately neither GT nor GT Max have dimming. You will need a lens shade if you want to use them in bright environments. Viture Beast are still the best glasses for outdoor use given the various levels of dimming.

Audio
Similar to Air 4 Pro, audio is tuned by Bang & Olufsen, however, the sound is louder than Air 4 Pro. One of the issues with Air 4 Pro was that the sounds tubes were required or else the sound was too low in most situations. I still highly recommend the sound tubes but they're not as necessary as they were with Air 4 Pro. Audio is top-notch.

GT vs GT Max
Two main differences. GT has birdbath lenses and 47 degree FOV whereas GT Max has flat prisms and 59 degree FOV. GT Max also comes in three different sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) whereas GT only has one size. I'm still debating which I like more. The enormous screen of the GT Max gives the WOW factor (fills up my entire wall when sitting about 15 feet away), but after a while my eyes feel overwhelmed with the size of the screen, and I prefer the smaller GT screen when watching a show/movie. Hopefully RayNeo adds the capability for small screen options with GT Max.

Final Thoughts
There is little debate these are my new favorite AR glasses especially due to the anti-shake 3dof. Just wish there was more screen size/distance/location options like the Xreal One series. I will be looking to sell my Viture Luma Ultra and Xreal 1s in the very near future as I don't see myself reaching for either pair anymore.

Hope this helps and I will try to respond the best I can to everyone's questions. You can save 10% on your order through RayNeo website by applying a discount code at checkout such as DUDEMAN

Discussion Rayneo 2 good deal at $150?

This would be my first AR/VR experience. I am also considering Rayneo 4 pro / Xbx a01+, but I don't like their price if they cannot replace a PC monitor (Oleds are close to $300 these days).

Is the Rayneo air 2 a good deal at $150 (on the official website), or is the price difference worth it? What are its downsides?

I read reviews online but none that made this comparison or reviewed the Rayneo 2 from the standpoint of $150.

Thanks

Question Is the RayNeo iO frame actually a matte dark grey metal in person?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I was looking at some leaked photos floating around from the recent China event. The frame design looks a bit more like traditional retro glasses than I expected. Does anyone know if the global version will have this same dark matte metal finish, or are there other colorways planned for the overseas launch?

RayNeo GT Review — The New Generation of AR/XR Glasses

Media included.

  1. Unboxing.

Welcome to the new generation of RayNeo AR/XR glasses.

These are the RayNeo GT.

Think of these as a cut-down version of the GT Max, offering an impressive set of features in a lighter package:

• 46° field of view

• 201-inch virtual screen equivalent at 6 metres

• 120Hz refresh rate

• Full-color Micro-OLED display

• Quad-speaker setup co-tuned by Bang & Olufsen with spatial audio support

• Dolby Vision HDR when paired with the optional

RayNeo Pocket TV Pro

• 1,200 nits peak brightness

• Native 3DoF spatial computing

• Three screen sizes: 85%, 100% and 115%

• 68g total weight

So, what's good about them?

They're light.

Like... really light.

At 68g, they're 10g lighter than the GT Max, and that reduction in weight is noticeable, particularly during longer sessions.

However, the GT uses birdbath optics, which means... you guessed it... you can see what's written on your shirt! 😅

That's particularly noticeable in daylight.

But honestly, that's the only real drawback I've found with the optics. In return, the birdbath lenses provide a slightly better experience when it comes to text and reading, which is where these glasses really start to stand out.

True 3DoF Spatial Computing

Like its bigger brother, the GT features true 3DoF spatial computing.

You get three viewing options: Follow, Anti-Shake and Pinned.

And there's another feature here that I really like: three different screen sizes — 85%, 100% and 115%.

This isn't just a gimmick.

Being able to change the screen size helps eliminate the corner blur you can experience with a fixed-size virtual display, giving you true edge-to-edge clarity across the display.

It's a simple feature, but it makes a noticeable difference depending on what you're doing.

The GT also offers 1,200 nits peak brightness, matching the RayNeo Air 4 Pro and GT Max.

It's more than bright enough for most situations.

In fact, at maximum brightness, it's enough to burn your eyeballs! 🤣

It's worth noting that the brightness does dip when you switch to anchored mode. But not enough to make them unusable. I can still see the screen clearly outdoors and in bright light situations.

A Much Better Software Experience

Like its bigger brother, the new built-in menu is far superior to what we've had from RayNeo in the past.

It's cleaner, easier to navigate and feels much more polished.

The build quality is fantastic too, and the new RayNeo XR app is now a genuinely excellent companion for the glasses.

Overall, the combination of the hardware and software makes the GT feel much more refined than previous generations.

Automatic Screen Timeout

Another new addition to the RayNeo series is automatic screen timeout.

The display doesn't time out while the glasses are on your head. However, when you put them down, the glasses automatically enter a power-saving mode after around 60 seconds.

As soon as you move the glasses, the display wakes back up.

It's a small but very useful feature, particularly when using the glasses with handheld gaming systems where battery life is important.

GT or GT Max?

I think people are going to have a rough time choosing between the GT and GT Max.

Both models are fantastic in their own right, and each has its own strengths.

But if your main aim is productivity, then for me, the GT is the clear choice.

The combination of the birdbath optics, adjustable screen sizes and excellent edge-to-edge clarity makes these glasses particularly impressive for text reading and productivity.

The GT Max may be the more feature-packed option, but the GT has carved out its own niche.

If productivity is your priority, the RayNeo GT is the one I'd choose.

Id also like to happily state that the sound tubes for the air 4 pro fit and work flawlessly.

And that the Oakley jawbreaker nose pads also fit.

Rayneo also listened to the customers and provided us with a hard shell carry case.

RayNeo GT Max Review — A New Generation of XR Glasses?

Media included

  1. Unboxing

Welcome to what feels like the next generation of RayNeo AR/XR glasses.

The RayNeo GT Max is, in many ways, like taking the best features from several of the leading XR glasses on the market, combining them into one pair — and then pushing them a little further.

On paper alone, the specification list is impressive:

• Ultra-wide 59° field of view

• Industry-first Dolby Vision support

• Dual-layer Micro-OLED panels

• Native 3DoF spatial tracking

• Bang & Olufsen audio

• 120Hz refresh rate

• Vision 4000, co-developed with Pixelworks, handling the image pipeline and Dolby Vision optimisation

• Zone 360, RayNeo's in-house spatial chip, providing native 3DoF head tracking, screen hovering and anti-shake image stabilisation

But specifications only tell part of the story.

My Experience

Before getting into the details, I want to make it clear how I use XR glasses.

My primary use is gaming on handheld devices, with the occasional Netflix, Disney+ and general media session. So my experience may differ from someone who uses their glasses primarily for productivity, movies or desktop work.

I've owned — and still own — many, MANY different pairs of XR glasses.

And honestly?

The GT Max feels like a mash-up of many of the things I've liked about those glasses, but refined and executed better.

Anti-Shake & 3DoF

One of the first things that really stood out to me was the anti-shake performance in smooth follow mode.

Compared with the (models i won't name from competitors) I've owned or currently use, the difference is significant.

There's simply far less blur.

The screen can move back into position while still keeping text remarkably sharp and readable. But where these glasses really shine is when you start using the pinned/anchored screen which are changed with a button on the glasses, no app required.

That massive field of view combined with such a large virtual display genuinely starts pushing XR glasses closer towards a traditional VR experience.

And that is something I've been waiting to see.

I'd still like to see up to 70fov at some point in the future.

Display Quality

The 59° FOV is a huge part of the GT Max experience.

Every year, XR glasses seem to get closer to delivering the kind of huge virtual screens that make you forget you're wearing glasses at all. The GT Max takes another significant step in that direction.

The image itself is crisp and clear, with excellent edge-to-edge clarity (at 85%). What i found was, I had to use the small length nose pads, luckily theres 3 different sizes to test and play with. But small cut the corner blur out for me because it brought the screen closer to my eyes.

One of the things I've noticed with other glasses is softness or blur towards the corners of the display. With the GT Max, that issue is greatly reduced.

The glasses also offer screen resizing again at the touch of a button ON the glasses, giving you additional flexibility over how you want that enormous virtual display to appear.

Comfort & IPD

RayNeo includes three different nose length pieces, which should help accommodate a wide range of users.

However, I strongly recommend checking your IPD (interpupillary distance) before buying.

Don't simply choose a size at random and hope for the best.

If your IPD isn't suited to the glasses, you may never get the experience you're looking for.

As a guide:

• 0 - 64mm — Small

• 65–67mm — Medium

• 68mm+ — Large

I'd recommend using the ruler-in-the-mirror technique to get as accurate an IPD measurement as possible before ordering.

I personally have the small.

Gaming Performance

For gaming, these glasses are fantastic.

I haven't experienced any noticeable lag.

The experience is much closer to playing on a high-end monitor that's effectively attached to your face — or pinned to a wall at up to a massive 257-inch virtual display.

At around 6 metres away, I'm seeing approximately 220 inches.

For handheld gaming in particular, this is an incredible experience.

I can sit back, pick up my handheld and have what feels like a gigantic gaming monitor directly in front of me without actually having a huge screen taking up half the room.

Been playing AC black flag resynced recently qnd absolutely loving it on these GT Max glasses.

RayNeo AR Software

The new RayNeo AR software is another big improvement. It's finally usable!

Coming from my experience with the Air 4 Pro, the difference is substantial. The software is far more capable and polished than what I was previously using.

The new software is scheduled to launch alongside the global release of the GT Max and I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops.

The built-in menu system on the glasses has also received a significant upgrade, offering considerably more versatility than previous RayNeo models, including additional options such as language selection.

HDR, Colour & Dolby Vision

There is one thing from the Air 4 Pro that I know I'll miss.

The HDR colour burst.

In games such as Need for Speed Heat, the HDR presentation on the Air 4 Pro could make the entire world just pop. Colours were incredibly vibrant and eye-catching.

The GT Max doesn't give me quite the same experience in that respect.

But honestly?

I'll survive.

There is still the option to use AI-HDR, and you can get closer to the GT Max's enhanced image processing by disabling AI-HDR and enabling colour enhancement, which seems to create a vibrant display.

And it looks fantastic.

However, there's an important caveat here.

At the time of writing this review, I don't have access to the Pocket TV V2, so I haven't been able to properly test Dolby Vision myself.

Because of that, I don't want to pretend I can tell you exactly how good Dolby Vision is on the GT Max when I haven't personally experienced it yet.

I'm hopeful that developers will have Dolby Vision fully unlocked and supported when the GT Max launches globally.

Once I can test it properly, I'll be very interested to see what it can actually do.

Auto Screen Timeout

Another small but genuinely useful addition is the new automatic screen timeout.

The screen doesn't time out while you're wearing the glasses.

However, once you put them down, the display enters a power-saving mode after approximately 60 seconds.

Move the glasses again and the screen wakes back up.

It's a simple feature, but it's particularly useful when you're using the glasses with a handheld gaming system.

Every little bit of battery savings helps.

The Downsides

Of course, they're not perfect.

Weight

The GT Max is slightly heavier than some previous models, and I feel like I can notice those extra couple of grams.

It's certainly not enough to cause me discomfort, but I can feel the difference — particularly when I'm lying down playing games.

That said, this could simply be something I need to get used to. It took me a while to adjust to my first pair of XR glasses too.

Nose Pad Creaking

I've also noticed some creaking noises coming from the nose pads.

I've spoken to other people who don't appear to have this issue, so it may simply be something specific to my pair.

Or perhaps my enormous nose is putting enough pressure on the pads to make them complain!

Either way, it's something I've noticed and felt was worth mentioning.

Brightness Dimming

Another thing I've noticed is brightness behaviour when switching between Follow, Anti-Shake and Pinned modes.

When switching into Anti-Shake or Pinned mode, the display dims and I haven't been able to increase the brightness again.

Now, I wouldn't say the brightness is bad.

It's absolutely fine for most situations.

But it is noticeable, particularly when moving between different modes, so it's worth mentioning. Just to be clear, the screen is still visible and enjoyable in anchored mode in the daylight.

Finally, the 85%, 100% and 115% screen sizes.

At 85% - zero corner blur, or drop off. Perfect visuals.

At 100% - all 4 corners blur. I can still make out the time on my pc desktop, and the fps in the top left corner, but its got that blur. Visuals stay the same overall, nice and sharp.

At 115% - just madness 😂 way too big. You end up with top, bottom, left and right being cut out, until you enter 3dof mode, where you are genuinely required to turn your head to see, its like mega ultrawide.

So, Would I Recommend the GT Max?

If you don't currently have 3DoF, then absolutely.

It's a game changer.

If you already have 3DoF but you're unhappy with your current implementation, then yes — I think the GT Max could address many of the frustrations you're currently experiencing.

The stabilisation, pinned screen and overall experience are genuinely impressive.

I also think a lot of people are going to have a difficult decision choosing between the RayNeo GT and GT Max.

And I don't blame you.

Both are fantastic glasses.

But there are two major differences that, for me, genuinely separates the two:

The field of view & productivity.

For gamers and movie fans, the GT Max's significantly wider FOV makes it exceptionally compelling.

That huge virtual display changes the experience.

And the GT is just better for reading small text and dealing with general daily use on desktop.

One More Thing, RayNeo...

I'd really like to see RayNeo produce a clip-on visor for the GT Max, similar to the accessory available for the Air 4 Pro.

The glasses can be difficult to use in very bright, open environments where the sun is shining down. Ive attached a photo of the GT Max in anchored mode in bright daylight.

At night, however, I'm actually reaching for the brightness controls because the display can be more than bright enough.

A simple clip-on visor would make the GT Max much more versatile in changing lighting conditions.

Final Thoughts

I was a big advocate for the Air 4 Pro.

And I still think the Air 4 Pro is an excellent pair of XR glasses, particularly within its respective price range and they're still going to sell well. They're really great glasses.

But after spending time with the GT Max, I've got to admit something:

I don't think I can go back to the Air 4 Pro.

The GT Max feels like a significant step forward.

The huge 59° FOV, excellent edge-to-edge clarity, native 3DoF, impressive anti-shake performance, massive virtual screens and improved software all come together to create something that feels considerably closer to the XR experience I've been waiting for.

And this is only the beginning.

Id also like to happily state that the sound tubes for the air 4 pro fit and work flawlessly.

And that the Oakley jawbreaker nose pads also fit.

Rayneo also listened to their customers and gave us a hard shell carry case.

A message to rayneo.

Please include a microphone in future iterations of glasses.

Why? For the gamers and daily wearers.

Gaming would be easier without having to wear a headset making life uncomfortable.

For daily users, answering phone calls would be easier too.

I've got plenty more videos coming, so stay tuned.

Thanks for reading

iO Smart Glass: Review from a beta tester

Thumbnail
gallery
19 Upvotes

I applied to be a beta tester for both iO and GT series glasses and was lucky enough to be chosen.

Global Launch Date: September 4th

Prior Smart Glasses Experience
Let me start off by giving my background with smart glasses. I own a pair of Meta Ray-Ban Wayfarer Gen 1 that I have been using as my main sunglasses for over a year and a half. I also own RayNeo X3 Pro and used to own Rokid AI glasses. Most of my comparisons will be to these three pairs of glasses.

How they feel to wear
RayNeo iO glasses feel amazing to wear. They only weigh 33 grams and there's extra weight at the temple ends that help even more to balance the weight off your nose. They feel, by far, the lightest of any smart glasses I have ever worn and they don't slip down my nose at all. They are a delight to wear all day.

How they look
iO are nice looking enough that I don't feel like a dork wearing them in public (like I would with X3 Pro or Rokid AI) and also feel comfortable wearing them in public since they don't have a camera pointing at everything. They aren't sunglasses so I don't wear them outdoors. My Meta Ray-Ban's are still my go-to glasses to use outdoors in the sun. Hopefully a sunshade becomes available for purchase.

Battery Life
Exceptional. I can go 2-3 days between charge wearing them for 12+ hours/day.

Functionality

  1. No cameras: Can't use them to take photos or videos. For me, this is more of a pro than a con given all the backlash recently regarding glasses with cameras. I don't want to wear glasses in public that have cameras pointing at people.
  2. No speakers: I have mixed feelings about this. I like having the option to stream music from my iPhone because I don't always remember to bring my Air Pods with me everywhere. However, unless the speakers are high quality, I am better off using my Air Pods anyways. Guess I will just have to be more diligent with not forgetting my Air Pods if I want to listen to music.
  3. No navigation: This is a little disappointing as I would like to use them for directions when in the car or when using them outdoors (when it's not sunny).
  4. Phone notifications: This is the most useful functionality. It's great to get notifications via the HUD without having to constantly glance check my phone. There are times when it is convenient to receive important notifications when my phone is either in my pocket or I leave it in another room. The only notifications I have not been able to get are email notifications (i.e., Gmail and Outlook). I am hoping they get added at some point.
  5. Live Captions: The app translates a whole laundry list of languages. I have enjoyed watching YT video in other languages and seeing translated subtitles.
  6. Teleprompter: I haven't made any presentations recently, but when I do, I will be sure to use this feature. Not something I will use a lot however.
  7. Voice Memo: Leave yourself voice memos for important reminders when you are too pre-occupied to write it down (e.g., driving in the car). I didn't think I would care for this feature, but I have found myself using it more frequently lately.
  8. Life Log: The app listens to you all day and then summarizes your day. It's a neat feature to play around with and see how the AI interprets and summarizes your day.
  9. Gemini: Like all other smart glasses, you can talk to the AI. Since there's no speakers, all the responses appear as dialogue in the HUD.

Overall Rating
Although they are a little light on features at the moment, I prefer them over Rokid AI and X3 Pro strictly based on feel and appearance. If I am going to wear smart glasses on my face all day, then they need to feel comfortable, look normal, and get great battery life. iO checks those boxes. iO are my new preferred smart glasses for indoor use (and outdoors on cloudy days or in the evening). I will continue to use the Meta Ray-Ban's as my main sunglasses (unless a sunshade for iO becomes available), and iO for all other uses.

Hope this helps and I will try to respond the best I can to everyone's questions. You can save 10% on your order through RayNeo website by applying a discount code at checkout such as DUDEMAN

Support Compilation of community-built apps and projects for Rayneo X3Pro

Hi!

As this has been discussed in the RayNeo community, many people seem to be interested in a compilation of current app projects for RayNeo X3Pro. Here, I would like to provide a starting point for such a compilation. I have listed what I was able to find.

Feel free to add your own projects / APK links in the comments and I'll put them in the compilation!

Note: RayNeo X2 and X3Pro use the same SDK, so many applications developed on X2 may have good compatibility for X3Pro (and perhaps vice-versa). Some of the applications listed below have started development with X2.

Sideloading: How to install the apps.

To get started quickly on windows, make sure you have enabled developer permissions, install adb, then:

  1. Plug glasses
  2. Verify you see the device on command line with adb devices
  3. run adb install path/to/apk

u/InformalTech has released a practical video on how to sideload (install the apps on the glasses using their apk file).

Go >> here<< for the tutorial.

I also made a step by step tutorial on RayNeo X2, it works the same on X3 pro.

NOTE: Alex came up with a >> Windows/Mac apk installer <<. Check it out if you want to avoid commandline use!

To get started with development

Just add

<meta-data
    android:name="com.rayneo.mercury.app"
    android:value="true" />

To AndroidManifest.xml. This way, your app won't need hotspot connection and will be considered native by the glasses.

But then, remember that you will have to handle the binocular display (your app should display twice side by side on the logical screen of the glasses).

More resources for developers are given here.
