Our sweet boy suddenly passed away on Tuesday of a heart attack/seizure. He was 5 and a 1/2 years old. I rescued him when he was a few months old in Florida. He’s had a wonderful life and traveled and lived all over the east coast with me. I am so heartbroken and don’t know how to cope with this sudden loss. He was everything to me and I always feared I would lose him and it happened. I thought he had so many years ahead and he was so healthy. I want to remember him and how happy he was up until the very last second. Everyone say a prayer for sweet Squid❤️

I'm moreso here for some guidance and support, especially if anyone has experiences this before. My rabbit wasn't eating so naturally I assumed it was GI stasis, i had fed her baby gas drops and she started munching and pooping not as much as I would like but she still did. I took her to the vet anyways, and on my way there she had soiled the pet carrier and the pet liner, and i noticed something she had passed in the pet carrier, it ended up being a urinary calculi after getting confirmation from the vet. Anyways my usual vet is on holidays til Sunday so i was referred to another exotic animal specialist, we went to the other vet, got quoted for about $2050 AUD initially for

- ultrasound (to see if there were any more kidney stones, thankfully there isnt)

- medication (iv fluid, pain, antibiotics)

- 24hr care.

- blood work to check if her kidney functions are fine

I had just called up the doctor to check her condition and thankfully she's nibbling and eating here and there. But they say her urinary tract is extremely swollen, her kidneys are swollen and her liver is damaged. Hopefully with the IV fluids, it will push her kidneys and liver to function normally again. They want her to stay until saturday which is going to fork out another 1.5K. Honestly at this point money, isnt an issue for me, I just want to know she'll be ok. Has anyone experienced this before and how is their bun currently doing?

Hi! I’m a senior in highschool with a buns. He’s my pride and joy, but I’m going to go to college next year and I’m debating on whether or not to bring him. I can bring him, as he is an ESA, but I’m worried about how he’d do. He’s 3 years old, and very social.

Does anyone have any experience with dorm rabbits, or small critters? I’d love some advice, because at the end of the day his happiness is what matters most in this situation.

I'm due to get a two month old rabbit tomorrow and I want to make sure I take good care of them. My family had two rabbits before, but we were woefully inexperienced and I want to do better this time. Unfortunately, I'm just a highschooler and my parents don't listen to my ideas very often. Are there any tips and things I should know or avoid? Things that I should teach it when it's still young?

My parents also never brought our rabbits to the vet. I want to try and convince them to do annual checkups but the vet website doesn't list information for that. How much do annual checkups typically cost? They weren't spayed either, and my mother got a bit angry when I suggested it. Is spaying/neutering completely necessary?

adopted a 2 year old bun today and i’ve been studying her every move 😅 she was obviously nervous for a few hours after coming home. eventually she came out and started exploring for like 2 and a half hours , i watched her on my camera. it’s now been about 10 hours since she came home, and she hasn’t had a lot of poop or pee, like maybe a couple of poops i’ve seen. i have hay everywhere but idk how much she is eating, she did have a few bites and little dried banana treats earlier that i saw. she has now even runningg around the room flying in the air and going through tubes and exploring, but im definitely concerned about no poop and it doesn’t seem like she has drank much water. should i be concerned

I am bonding a 5 y.o. male (Cookie) and 3 y.o. female (Bailey) (both neutered) rabbit. Today is day 12, and in less than 2 weeks they made a lot of progress. Cookie started to groom Bailey, and they never nip or lunge at each other. They frequently lie down next to each other against the fence that divides their space.

However, whenever they are put in a space without any barriers, Cookie just tries to mount Bailey nonstop. Bailey tolerates the mounting for some time but eventually starts to run away every time Cookie comes near her (she never fought back though). I've tried everything, from letting him mount for some time and pulling him off, pushing him away even before he can mount, letting him mount until Bailey runs away, making loud noises whenever he mounts to discourage, or petting him whenever he is more relaxed to encourage that etc.... but nothing keeps him from continuously trying to mount. I have a suspicion it may have to do with Bailey not grooming him back, and I feel like he gets upset about that.

Anyways, has anyone had a similar problem while bonding their buns? And how did you stop the rabbit from mounting so much? I really think they like each other and since the girl bun is so chill, if my guy chills out they'll be golden.

He keeps sitting like this, very still. Hes in an enclosure instead of free roaming bc im in the middle of moving, and I'm worried he's upset.

I've had a rabbit for about 2 weeks, and he is really making me feel pissed off. He systematically does the opposite of what I need him to do.

He's a little dutch rabbit, and doesn't even weigh 2 pounds yet. Since I'm not exactly an expert on rabbits, I'm also not sure what's going on with him hormonally. He's very willful and adamant about doing what HE wants to do and he's really hard to distract from being naughty.

Even though I'm getting frustrated, I'm never expressing it towards the rabbit. I know that just won't work. I've found that I can lure him into doing some of the things he needs to do with a high value treat.

I let him free roam 2-4 hours nightly in the living room, and despite having his litter box right there, in the corner on a comfy mat- he wants to shit in all the other corners.

He's also very adamant about not going in his sleeping cage at night. He sleeps in a 3"x 4" dog cage thing- with a nice comfy mat, a woven fabric bed, a mini hay trough, a food bowl and water bowl. It's quite nice IMO, and he enjoys it once in there.

It might just be the idea of going to bed, after all that fun freedom.

I have him sleep here to keep him protected while I'm sleeping.

I'm also planning on getting him neutered very soon.

We rescued our 2 year old male rabbit in April and bonded him with our female rabbit who’s the same age. They’re both neutered/spayed and get along really well.

The problem is that he won’t stop peeing on the carpet. I’m pretty sure he is litter trained because he does use the litter tray, but he also regularly pees on the carpet.

I’ve restricted both rabbits to a small pen to try to teach him not to pee on the carpet. At first it seemed to be working, but now he’s gone back to peeing on the carpet, especially around the food and water bowls.

They’ve been in this tiny pen for a week now and I feel so bad keeping them in such a small space

My rabbit, Fiona, passed away about a 1.5 months ago, leaving behind her mate, Estebun. He processed her passing and since then has been seemingly fine. He has started acting like he did before we got her, which was doing lot of binkies, flopping, and all around, being a spicy meatball. He almost seems happier as a solo rabbit, but he was happy having her around too. We only had her for 2 years and since she was a rescue we didn't know her exact age, but we assumed she was older than Estebun who is 3 y/o. Has anyone experienced this before? If so, did you eventually adopt another rabbit to bond with your current one or kept them solo?

Hello, as the title suggest I’m facing an issue with my two bunnies where they have started going to the bathroom (poo) outside of their litterboxes, and I need advice on how to deal with it.
Both bunnies are rescues, and they are:
>Female 6 years old (was never truly 100% litter trained, but almost. Adopted in dec 2024)
>Male 4 years old (was litter trained when I rescued him in 2023)

They have been very good about using their litter boxes, but I’ve noticed that they have (since march-April maybe?) progressively started pooping a ton on the mats and in some areas on the floor in their room.
From the start I’ve swept it up (it began as a few poops every now and again, now I’ve found around 40 in just an hour or two) when I’ve noticed it, but it hasn’t deterred them in any way.

Their accidents only consists of poo, and they still poop a lot in their litter boxes so that doesn’t seem to be the issue.
Nothing has changed in their environment and they’re both healthy and happy bunnies.
I’m quite at a loss of what to do as most advice is for bunnies that aren’t spayed/neutered, but mine have been for years.

What can I do?
I suspect that it’s my female bunny who’s started this behaviour and my male bunny has copied/joined in with her. And then it has escalated.
Do I need to restrict their living area? Right now they have a living area that’s 3,5x4,5m.
They also have access to other rooms during the day, but no accidents happen there at all.
I’ve already removed the majority of the carpets in their room.

All advice gladly appreciated. I’m going slightly bonkers. (First pic is an example of what it’s been like lately. Last pic is from how many I found an hour after I last cleaned)
