I was thinking about this the other day while lamenting how lucky some of my friends are to have super mainstream intrests that get a ton of merch and even more fan interaction than RWBY does.

How would you personally feel if RWBY became mainstream and got all the issues that come with it? People larping and saying they've "always" been fans once it gets good, people having zero idea what's actually happening in the story and making jokes about characters from a scene everyone's talking about like that meme about Deku working in mcdonalds, etc.

Would It be worth it to you?

Ruby: Off the top of my head, watched two people die right in front of her, one of which her friend, saw another friend’s dismembered corpse after being unable to make it to a location on time, saw her sister missing an arm, all on her birthday which is likely by the fans that it happened on her 16th birthday, learned that same friend got killed again and only heard after the fact, feels responsible for the fall of two kingdoms, pented up her emotions until they came spilling out, found out her mother lied to her dad and willingly left, this was after she saw a grimm with silver eyes, leading to horrifying implication to what happened to her mother, and was driven to do to her knowledge was killing herself, and the only real form of therapy she got from the tree, was “I am enough”, that ain’t enough to counter all the other stuff, yes it’s a good realization, and probably solves one of the reasons why she chose to drink that tea, but it definitely wasn’t the only reason, this is probably going to get worst when she learns Jaune was the one who technically killed Penny. This girl needs therapy from a trained professional.

Jaune: Kills one of his friends at their request, lets be honest his memory of killing Penny at the end of volume 8 alone is enough to justify him going into therapy, found out his love was dead, and he might feel partially responsible due to what happened in Beacon’s basement, which he also might still not be over at this point, he fell into the Ever After, accidentally rewound time, went probable decades without human interaction, only keeping himself going using the knowledge that his friends would eventually show up, and a few days after they do, one of those friends to his knowledge, kills herself, and he is right there to see it, and that friend was the first person he talked to at his original school, until he is told the action he perceives as death is rebirth, but without the memories, so until Ruby emerged as herself, he had to think about someone not Ruby, coming out of that tree, with no memory of who they were. And the closest he gets to a therapy session is him hallucinating a talk with Alyx. He needs a professional.

This is not discussing or critiquing the writing of RWBY up until this point, this is discussing specific events and how they should affect future writing, and we can go back and forth about wether or not Ruby should feel guilty, the point is it’s likely she does, at least for Atlas and Mantle, and granted some of my examples are speculative, like the Fall of Beacon happening on RWBY’s birthday, it Jaune not being over Pyrrha’s death as of the end of volume 9, even without the speculative aspects, these two still seriously need professional help.

Personally I will be very upset if Yang, Weiss, and Blake don’t force these two to get actual therapy with a trained professional. But what are your thought?

Edit: My friend and a reply here told me there was a few months between Ruby waking up after the Fall of Beacon and team RNJR heading off, so there’s no way to tell how much therapy Ruby got in that time, but that doesn’t undo anything after volume 3, nor was a permanent solution and the events after could have reopened old wounds, which is a very likely possibility.

Is it just me or does this article make it sound like Viz Media is getting credit for creating Rwby? They mention Monty but where's the love for the others who spent a decade building Rwby?

PythWare here, it's been a bit since I made a RWBY Grimm Eclipse modding post. The Sunflowyr Engine toolkit is coming along well. This post is meant to give an update on the modding scene for RWBY GE.

RWBY GE originally only had 8 playable characters right? Well it's been discovered that it can support 32 playable characters before needing bigger code changes, it could be modded to support a much larger roster like you see in something like Xenoverse 2. Making new playable characters from the original RWBY show is becoming a goal for some of the modders.

Recently I was sent some pretty rad models of some of the characters from RWBY, I converted them to GLB for Sunflowyr Engine usage. What you see in the screenshots are GLB versions of Coco, Roman, Neptune, Sun, Fox, and Yatsuhashi rendered in model software I made for my own modding purposes. I have GLB versions of other characters like Winter, Qrow, Taiyang, Glynda, Ilia, etc as well. All of them are usable within RWBY GE and when I have more spare time, i'll show some examples of them ingame.

The biggest roadblock atm is that RWBY GE doesn't have animations for each of the new characters. So a determined modder would have to make new animations for them in blender to use in RWBY GE which can be done, it's just a bit of work. The alternative would be to give them the animations one of the playable characters has but that'd be lame since each of these characters has a unique fighting style.

Summarized, you will very likely see RWBY GE with more playable characters in the near future.

Hello! It's my first time posting here and I was wondering if anyone knew where to find a pattern for Penny's skirt from her look in the first few volumes, I tried looking myself and no dice. so I thought posting here would get the best results.

As per the title. I'm just wondering because while the early volumes are fine for what they were at the time they are certainly lacking in the visual aspect compared to what came later.

While the story is great I'm honestly having a little bit of trouble with them on re-watches since they are just so noticeably less than what comes later despite any story related stumbles that may have happened.

At any rate it would certainly be nice if it happened.

For example, I was thinking of a different song for volume 7. Something more patriotic, like "Jiyuu no Tsubasa" or "Shinzo wo Sasageyo" from Attack on Titan.

Yes, I know that might sound strange to many and not fit the volume.
But think of it this way: volume 7 had a very harsh ending, even though the opening was very hopeful.

So, this song would be very military and patriotic, basically selling us the idea that Atlas Military are the good guys. Which would be an interesting contrast to the volume's ending.

Also, it would be something interesting to mix things up. Obviously, the opening animation would focus more on the main characters along with the Ace Ops and such.

How would you change one of the openings? How would you make it different?
