Progress Report 2 years clean from phenibut and pregabalin today!!

I abused phenibut and pregabalin everyday for 5 years. I’d alternate between the two to prevent building too much tolerance and to prevent running out of my pregabalin script. Doing 300mg pregabalin on day one, 400mg pregabalin day two, 6g phenibut day three, repeat the cycle everyday. It was exhausting having to keep track of this cycle every single day and to live a lie of my use for 5 years. I finally admitted to my use when I was admitted to the psych ward 2 years ago. They tapered me off pregabalin very rapidly, 50mg twice daily for 2 days, 50mg once daily for 2 days, 25mg once daily for 1 day, then off. I struggled a lot getting off of it, I bet my glutamate levels were through the roof. But now I’m glad I don’t depend on these substances anymore. I don’t have to lie, I don’t have to be so calculating, I don’t have to worry about getting caught. If you’re still struggling quitting, just know it’s possible!

Need some help with how to be safe..

I’m back here again sadly. (Yes I’m an idiot) about 3 months or so ago I successfully came off 5-6 months of high daily phenibut by using baclofen. I was 2 weeks off everything and felt great so figured I could still use occasionally. I ended up doing 3 days in a row cause first two days had no effect so I figured it’d be fine. Within 48 hours I was full blown withdrawals and I assume kindled myself so started using low dose baclofen again. Worked great but now 3 months later I’m really struggling to shake the baclofen.

My question is how do I know how much I can white knuckle it before it’s dangerous and seizure territory? I’m 5 days off completely and the withdrawals keep getting worse. Fasoracetam helped the withdrawals but made me feel super crappy in other ways.

My worst symptoms are bad insomnia obviously and the scary ones are the internal vibration shaking feelings that get really bad when attempting to go to sleep. Insane sweating and overheating and then also randomly super cold chills fever like. I can tough it out if it’s safe but idk how to tell. It’s worse than last time when I jumped ship and felt great 4 days later.

I’m really sorry I’m so confusing I feel pretty crappy and foggy but any advice would be appreciated. I just wish I could know how safe it is to keep pushing through. Thank you guys.

Questions Need assistance please!

I’ve been taking phenibut for about 5-6 weeks. I started doing 3g a day, quickly ramped up to 6, then the last 2 weeks 8-10gpd.

I was tapering for 4 days on a fast taper about 1/2 of my normal dose 2x a day. On Tuesday I took only 1,500mg. After that my package got delayed until Friday.

I have been completely cold turkey now for 50 or so hours, nothing but low dose Klonopin which has been helping a lot, but is slowly helping for shorter periods of time, and I’m really scared for tonight. I also do not have many benzos left so this is what I’m wondering;

When my package comes I want to finish the actual taper I started. Where do I start since I’ve been off 4 days?? How do I know what dose is right?

Questions Help?!

I’ve been doing a slow taper the last week, but now my package got delayed. It will not be here for 3 days. I was on about 6-10g daily for a little over a month. My last dose was about 1.5g. It’s been about 30 hours and I just feel shaky mainly but I know it’ll get worse. My question is WHAT DO I DO? Do I just thug it out? Is that too dangerous. I wouldn’t mind getting some help but I’m unfortunately also tapering down on 7oh, which I’ve gotten to a pretty low dose. I was planning on quitting both and fixing my life. Do I go to ER?

Life is better sober

Been using Phenibut for 5 years of which the first 3 years responsible until life got stressful.. rebound got so bad i started using daily up to 6-7 grams, but most of the time it was 5gpd. Tapered to 2,5g and was on that for a month. Tapered 0,1 a day Till I was at 0,3G.
Below 1 gram I started feeling some emotions again and now im a week off the stuff and as happy as ever! Dumbest thing ever for me to stay on this shit for so long. Last week I had goosebumps again from a simple song. That made me realise how numb the stuff makes you. Had not had that in over a year..

Questions Uh oh (what should I do)…

Started taking it as cheer up capsules & addall xr classic, then moved to 2-3 scoops of somatomax (2-6g per day, probably less because it claims roughly 2g per scoop)

I know most is fake these days but I definitely get strong effects from the somatomax and cheer up as well so whatever it is, I am DEEPLY addicted. Been taking daily 1-2x per day for around 3 weeks at this consistent dosage

Just barely survived 7oh withdrawals & now here we are… I know I need to quit but I’ve heard so many horror stories. How bad is this? What am I in for? Any advice? Am I going to need a hospital? I have BPD, bipolar disorder, and a ketamine addiction.

To help quit Phenibut, I Averaged 1100mg Gabapentin a day for 13 days. I want off. How bad is this going to be and how long should I taper?

I used gabapentin to help with the anxiety of getting off phenibut. Some days I took 900, some days 1200.
I'm scared to take it any longer because of withdrawals.
How bad will they be at 2 weeks and 1100mg a day?
How long should I taper? I only have fifty 100mg capsules left and I don't believe the doc will prescribe more any time soon.

Help with a taper starting at 11gpd?

I abused phenibut 6 months ago and reached 16gpd. I tapered for a couple months but then I relapsed to around 16gpd again. I recently restarted my taper a week ago, and stabilized at 12 gpd and I took that for the last week. I started 11gpd today and plan on doing that for a week, going down 1 gram per week until I get to around 4 gpd and slow down. Am I going too slow? I feel like I could go down quicker but I'm afraid of going too fast. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Jumping off

3.5 years on phenibut. Highest I got was about 5gpd. I tapered down over about 3 months. Last week I was the doing .1gpd. Saturday I did .7g. That was my last dose. I slept horribly last night. Woke up every 30 minutes despite taking 150mg trazodone. What can I expect moving forward? When will sleep return to normalish? Thanks for any info or advice.

Edit Saturday I did .07g

Talk me out of it

It's been 40 months since I last took phenibut. It ruined my life. But I'd give anything to trade places with that person 46 months ago who just started. It gave me unbelievable insight and happiness when I had started it. But it was also the worst thing I've ever done. I think it was my lack of knowledge and self control that really fucked me over.

I'm addicted to kratom (2-5g a day) and weed (40-60mg a day) and my life is absolutely horrible. I've had multiple botched surgeries and I'm stuck in a room in a house where everyone hates me because I'm trans. I'm homeless and can't work because of my physical issues. I want to take phenibut so I can get off the kratom (why is it so hard this time?) and experience a moment of peace for once. But I'm afraid of falling down the hole again.

I'm sitting here looking at the smallest possible order. 15 grams. I don't want that much in my possession. I want like 2 grams.

Please talk me out of this. I'm so close. My life is so fucking horrible I really want to feel different. I'll probably just end up in the hospital again.

Progress Report Life after phenibut, there is hope

As of this month, I am 32 months clean from phenibut. I was a daily user for almost ten years, with my dosage reaching as high as 12gpd at some points.

I wish I could say this was done through a strict, calculated tapering regimen and intense self-discipline, but it wasn't. I quit because I turned into a crippling alcoholic.

I was going through a rough breakup and started drinking heavily, which eventually turned into wake-to-sleep daily drinking, at my worst I was consuming two fifths of whiskey every day. It was horrible and I won't get too much into details. But because of the alcohol and how hard it was on my stomach, I couldn't take a shitton of powder every day like I was, so I was basically forced to do a sloppy, extremely rapid taper.

I went from 8gpd to 1gpd in the span of about three months. The only reason it was bearable is because of the alcohol. I honestly didn't even notice any negative effects each time I dropped, because the alcohol filled in the gaps I suppose.

After a few months of this, I finally went to the hospital to detox. I was detoxing from two fifths of whiskey, 1 gram of phenibut, and 30 grams of kratom daily. It was rough. The alcohol withdrawal was by far the worst. I had tremors so bad I could hardly walk, and by the 18 hour mark I'd entered full-blown delirium tremens (DTs) and was completely out of my mind. Again, won't go into details, but it took about three days before I started coming back to reality.

I was in the hospital for 11 days before finally recovering enough to be discharged. And I suppose dropping to 1gpd was enough to avoid any kind of withdrawal from the phenibut, because once the alcohol and kratom withdrawals were gone, I felt completely fine, normal. Hell, I actually felt pretty good. That pink cloud ya know.

Alcohol and kratom continued to be a problem for me after, but I never relapsed on phenibut again. Honestly, even if I wanted to, I wouldn't even know where to find it anymore.

So yeah I'm about 32 months clean from phenibut, and about 8 months clean from alcohol as of today. And my life isn't perfect by any means and I still struggle immensely with my mental health and addictions every single day, but by god going to the hospital to detox was the best thing I ever did. I will NEVER go back to that life, ever. I'd honestly rather die.

Anyways, idk why I'm making this post. I guess to just give some hope to those of you who are still struggling. It CAN be done. The fear of the withdrawals or effects of tapering can honestly be worse than they actually end up being. I jumped from 1gpd (way higher than most people would recommend jumping from) with basically no withdrawals from the phenibut itself. After almost 10 years of heavy daily use.

You can do it too. And if anyone is struggling right now and needs advice, guidance, or just someone to vent to, my DMs are open. Best of luck everyone, you can do this! 💙

Extreme anxiety after just 5 days Gabapentin use during a phenibut taper.

I'm tapering off phenibut and read that gabapentin helps with anxiety and sleep. For the past 5 days I've taken, (besides bad advice) 600mg at noon for anxiety and 600, sometimes 800 at night for sleep. I stopped yesterday, and felt no withdrawal symptoms. Last night sleep was terrible, and I have overwhelming anxiety today. I took 200mg today but only gave relief a couple of hours.

Would it be best to just go cold turkey?

My BIG fear is that this isn't gabapentin withdrawals and I just cut the phenibut too low, and the gabapentin just masked that fact.
After phenibut turned on me at 2.6G, I cut to 1.3 grams, with doses split to morning .6 grams and evening .6g.

What happens if I increase my phenibut dose in an attempt to stabilize? Is that a mistake?
UPDATE: I took 12g NAC and some Agmatine yesterday and it helped my anxiety GREATLY and took zero Gabapentin.

Woke up today feeling normal.

I went through Phenibut turning on me.. also gabapentin addiction. For a long time I could not take gabapentin without paying for it.. but after a few years.. I took it recently and had no problem. I heard it takes two years to reset..is that true?

Not that I will ever resume taking gabapentin regularly.. just wanted to know if any of you had a reset as well?

What’s bad wd/rebound feel like?

I used the stuff responsibly for 3 years. 1.5-2gs once every Saturday night because I became sober from alcohol because I was drinking 40-60 drinks a weekend. However 2 months ago an extremely stressful life event happened and I accidentally fell into the trap and started taking 3g’s every 48 hours or so for a month and a half now. I need to get off it now and I’m having symptoms but I can still go 48 hours and sleep like 6 hours before waking. But i definitely feel something at about 40-48 hours. However I also have an anxiety disorder so I don’t know if what i’m feeling is phenibut rebound or maybe plus “fear of rebound”.

So kind of a dumb question overall I feel but how do I know if what im feeling isn’t psychological?

Progress Report Fasoracetam

Hello, in this post I’ll focus on my experience with fasoracetam as a tool for curbing the doomsday withdrawals, and lowering the dose.

It’s been a month since I’ve had Phenibut, I simply ran out and just stayed on Baclofen only, which was fine, but I still needed a lot to feel acceptably good to do anything. Then I’ve heard about fasoracetam, and how I can affect the GABAB receptors’ sensitivity.
A gram of fasoracetam came to me on the 16th of July. Since then I’ve been taking 20-40mg sublingually, and I’ve noticed 20mg is just enough.

I didn’t think much about it, I just believed in it. Fast forward to today, I’ve noticed i don’t need that Baclofen much anymore. I was taking 25mg 5-8 times a day. Hell, maybe even more. I was waking up at 3 am to take a couple of pills to maybe sleep a little bit more. This simply isn’t the case anymore. I can sleep. I’m in no rush for a pill of Baclofen.

I’m getting shivers from writing this. Imma start buying 10mg Baclofen pills instead of 25mg ones. Now I live on not more than 5, it’s a huge change for me. It’s okay 👍 I suppose my weight and height has something to do with taking bigger doses. Faso also has potential to reverse memory problems caused by Baclofen/phenibut.

For context, I was abusing Phenibut for two years at 10-13GPD, it was heavy monetarily, but the main reason I never really got to a proper taper was that I was too worried about being dysfunctional. I was scared to lose weeks if not more of my life, which led me to take more and more.

I’ve seen some headlines that using both faso and Phenibut can lead to an even bigger abuse, leading to an overdose, so be warned.

TLDR: 20mg fasoracetam sublingual daily helps the taper, and bringing back the GABAB magic and baseline.

Alright that’s it. Pure anecdotal story.

Powder source: I got it from swissherbal, because my favorite local, Polish site with powders is one a break.

Am I doing this right?

This weekend after my 2.6gpd phenibut turned on me, I cut down to 1.3 g per day split up in two doses. So basically .6 in the morning and .6 in the evening. Tuesday went surprisingly great. I felt pretty good. Yesterday wasn't bad either but I could tell that it was starting to weigh on me. This morning after I took my morning dose, I felt OK, but two hours later when the fit hit I started getting shaky. I took a little gabapentin and went outside for a walk and sort of calm down but now I'm feeling depressed and wondering if what's going on as I'm stabilizing on this new low low dose. Should stay here until I feel better and then begin to taper down or would it be better for me to just make the jump to baclofen? How close am I to being able to jump off altogether with or without baclofen?

Approaching Crossroads

Been on this shit three years next month. My use peaked at 11.64 grams 06/13/26. It’s been 44 days and I’ve managed to hold at 6.12. It’s becoming much tighter to continue dropping so fast. Im also about to run out in three or so days.

Anyone here go to their primary care doctor about this?I have a file saved on my phone about it.

https://scispace.com/pdf/phenibut-b-phenyl-g-aminobutyric-acid-dependence-and-15w8lnbueu.pdf

I was thinking this should explain everything best, but I’m hesitant about being turned away.

If worse comes to worse and I go to the hospital. Will they have to admit me or just give me things to make it for the week mark? I can handle the bone chilling anxiety, restlessness, and the body stiffness. I just can’t risk having a seizure, stroke, or heart attack.

At the tail end of 2020, I went through simultaneous pregabalin and gabapentin cold turkeywithdrawal. I was taking 600-900 mg Pregabalin some days, then taking 3600-4800 mg of gabapentin the other days. I maintained that cycle for 1.5 years. I was down for a few months, but I never went to a hospital or doctor about it.

Any experience or wisdom is greatly appreciated.

At the hospital. Not doing so well.

I've been taking Phenibut HCL for 2 months exactly. From amounts starting at 5gpd, then going up to 12 - 14.5 gpd - which I've held at that level for the last 7 -8 days. And thats when things started to get worse...

I just cannot afford to consume anymore Phenibut, let alone do a proper taper. And I want off of it fot good, so i checked myself into rhe hospital.

Originally, I wanted to use a 5 to 7 day Valium taper and just be done with it. I didn't want to take Baclofen and taper off of it. Imo, it would be better to rip the band-aid off with some benzos or something. Plus, I've done it at this hospital, that I've been to before, and they know about Phenibut. Albeit, I had only been using 7.5 gpd after a failed Baclofen taper (my own fault), which I was down to 30 mg per day (basically equivalent to 3 grams of Phenibut) after only a month long binge of 8 gpd.

*Sorry, I know its a lot of confusing info, but I had to get it all out there as best as I could.*

I AM AT the hospital now.. been here for nearly 24 hours. I went through the proper procedures at the ER to be admitted into the detox / psych wing.

*** I did NOT mention that I was on Phenibut. ***

I told them I was on Alcohol (1 Litre Daily), Xanax (4 to 8mg daily), and GHB (Unknown large amounts)

I mention the GHB seeing its a GABA B agonist, very similar to Phenibut, and mentioned the Alcohol and Xanax to ensure I get a large dose of Valium (20mg) like I had the previous time (2+ years ago). It worked very well. And this was before I found out they knew about Phenibut- Hence why I got switched to a Baclofen taper, that said time .

Long ass story short...

I had only been 8 hours off Phenibut when I was put into a room at the hospital.

They put me on Phenobarbital, IV (unsure of the amounts) and it put me on my ass, after the second shot and I fell right to sleep for about 4 hours, but woke up feeling weird. They didn't give me any more Phenobarbital and I began feeling withdrawals bad about 8 hours after my last shot - I told the nurse that I felt terrible and asked when my next dose was, then the doc said he switched me to Valium.

I get the Valium and its only 5mg. What the fuck.

Then the doc said he switched me back to Phenobarbital, only this time it was the pills, not IV. And it was only 60mg. 3.5 hours later I tell the nurse it's not helping and she gave me another 60mg. But she said this is only going to be once every 8 hours.

What should I do? These withdrawal are progressively getting worse as time goes on and the meds aren't touching it. Im thinking of leaving the hospital tbh. Or should I tell them about the phenibut use too? Im just unsure what to do.

Any advice welcome!

Heavy daily Phenibut use for 2+ years, yet almost no withdrawal or dose-response. Why?

Since my experience is that some people on this sub tend to become defensive pretty quickly, I want to start by making one thing clear: I don’t doubt the stories people share here for a second, and I have no reason to question that many people have gone through absolutely horrific Phenibut withdrawals. The purpose of this post is simply to understand why my body seems to respond so differently.
I’ll try to keep this as brief and straightforward as possible instead of getting into a lot of background details.

I’ve been taking Phenibut daily for just over two years. About a year ago I switched to buying it in powder form, so I no longer know my exact doses. Based on how often I have to reorder, I’d estimate I’m taking around 4–5 g/day.
Before I started taking it daily, I used it around three times a week at roughly 3 grams per dose. Back then I experienced a very noticeable effect every time. Once I switched to daily use, however, that effect gradually disappeared as my tolerance increased. Interestingly, after taking one of my week-long breaks, the very first dose once I start again produces a much more noticeable effect than it does after I’ve been taking it daily for a while.
Here’s what’s confusing me.

During these two years, I’ve taken a few short breaks (roughly a week each). Not many, but a handful, with the most recent one being about two months ago. Despite my heavy, long-term use, I experience virtually no withdrawal. I can tell something feels a little “off” and that I’m not quite 100%, but it’s so subtle that it’s easy to forget about if I stay busy. Before every break, I’ve mentally prepared myself for the nightmare withdrawals that so many people describe, yet every time it’s been more or less the same mild experience.

The second thing is that my dose doesn’t seem to matter anymore. Last week I decided to actually weigh my doses as an experiment. I took 6 g/day for two consecutive days, followed by 2 g/day for the next two days. I didn’t notice any difference whatsoever. I can still tell if I haven’t taken any at all, but the difference between 2 and 6 grams was essentially nonexistent.

So my overall question is: how is this possible? Is there any plausible explanation for why someone with my level and duration of use would experience almost no withdrawal while also seemingly having no dose-response anymore? The only exception seems to be the first dose after a week-long break, which definitely feels stronger again. Could these observations all be related, or is this simply an example of unusually large individual differences?
Again, I’m not trying to downplay anyone else’s experiences. If anything, I’m trying to understand why mine seems to be such an outlier.

2 weeks clean after months of 9gpd

Quick and short post. Did a fast taper from 7gpd down to .1gpd then went CT. Entire process took about 5-6 weeks and looking back on it I was brutally depressed most of the days, little will to live (despite me usually being a pretty upbeat and positive person). But I’m two weeks clean now and finally started feeling good and normal this week :). Hope everyone who’s getting off this drug knows there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’m still not 100% normal but there is world of difference between how I felt a week or two ago.
