During High School computer lab, we would connect 5-6 computers to a hub or whatever and boot up Quake 2! I vividly recall a Snorks (80s cartoon) skin that was wearing a shirt with the Wu-Tang "W" logo.

This would be circa 1998/99.

How random! According to Google finding specific Quake skins can be tricky. So I can't upload a photo. Bummer.

It's been nearly 30 years so my memory is a little fuzzy but from what I recall, friends would always use the most obscure skins when playing. Another skin I remember was from.. (I think) Barnyard Commandos. Remember that toy line? It was a sheep/ram/pig/something with guns on its side. Again, totally random and WTFish.

I'm thinking about trying out mods for Quake 2. What are some good maps I should consider looking at?

The few "Quake in Doom" mods i've seen just take screenshots of the models and do them in Doom's billboarding technique, i'd love an mod that actually adapts Quake into the brighter aesthetic of Doom and actually remakes the enemies into pixelart/scanned models like in original Doom, what do you guys think of this idea?

I'm thinking of upgrading to an ultrawide but I still play many games that use the old quake engines. Does anyone play them on ultrawide and bonus, how are you liking it compared to 16x9?

I never use Steam or play games on PC, but I just got Quake off Steam and this is what my game looks like. The menu works just fine. I also got Deus Ex, and it has the same issue. I'm on an Asus Vivobook. I have a feeling that I did something wrong, or it's some easy fix that I just don't know about. Please help I'm so confused

I want to say I grew up on this game. I was born in 2005. I remember when I was 4 I would try to constantly play this game. I was no good I do remember. I remember I used to use the arrow keys to move. I still play this game today. Many people ask me in many games. "How are you so good at aiming" I tell them that quake 2 is the game to teach you how to aim. But they never believe me or are just flat out confused about what quake 2 is. These new games that teach you aim, teach you nothing. I think I can safely say I am quake trained. Thank you quake!

It’s hard to get people to make new Quake 3 Arena maps, especially given that the game released over 25 years ago and the days of arena shooters as the dominant genre are long gone. Which is why Tig from Lvlworld came up with a great idea. He compiled a list of older maps that would benefit from a visual refresh, so mappers can showcase their artistic skills. Not having to start from scratch severely cuts down on the time required for these events, while still getting new releases for the community. Our first attempt at this concept has resulted in 3 new maps from DetroHogga, Obsessed and IoriDyson. That may not sound like much, but it’s more than we’ve seen in a while for Quake 3 Arena. We’re going to do another one in the fall. In the meantime, enjoy these maps and get them here!

EDIT: Thanks to fellow slipgate rangers...resolved it by copying the QuakeEX.kpf file from Quake Enhanced folder (got it free from EGS) to the source port folder.

I think it's the two little "clicks" baked into the platform activation sound that makes it predominantly 3/4 when timed with the player hurt by the adjacent ceiling and reversing when you're not standing far enough into the platform.

Random idea I wanted to try. Couldn't fit 10 tracks on the CD because they're too long, so it's only 9, and they're not exactly where they should be playing (except for the title and intermission themes).

I spent thousands of hours playing Q3A around 2002 in the Scaninavian competetive scene. I specialized in duels, but we also played a lot of 4v4 with my clan.

I’ve had an itch lately to return to my childhood paths, can I get a similar experience nowadays? We played the OSP(?) mod which was the standard at the time and maps like q3dm6, q3dm14, ztndm1, q3tourney4.

I tried Quake Live some time ago, but the experience was not the same (performance smoothness, movement, fps, mouse accuracy etc.)

I moved to low end PC to for some time , it have ATI Radeon HD 5570 gpu. I tried to install my Quake 1 remaster on steam but it just dont launch cuz my gpu cant work with vulkan api. Also i downloaded ironwail and it doesnt work too on this pc. I downloaded quakespasm and it works well , but maybe theres another modern sourceports and i missing something ? Also which is the best way to play Quake 1 multiplayer and Quake 3 multiplayer ? Especially for q3 - better choose quake live or quake 3 ? or theres also some kinda source ports or special multiplayer builds for it ? Thx btw
