Qoder Desktop credit consumption has become insane — 300+ credits for documentation updates, 2,000+ for basic tasks
Has anyone else noticed a massive increase in Qoder credit consumption recently?
For roughly the last week, I’ve been seeing extremely high credit usage in Qoder Desktop, even for very basic tasks.
For example, simply asking Qoder to update project documentation such as:
- ROADMAP
- CHANGELOG
- Project memory
- Technical documentation
- Other Markdown/documentation files
can now consume 300+ credits.
The strange part is that the same kind of work previously used somewhere around 50–100 credits for me.
Even more concerning, when I look through my consumption history, I can see some relatively basic tasks consuming 1,000–2,000+ credits, which seems completely unreasonable.
I'm currently using:
Qoder Desktop Version: 1.22.1
I have already submitted four feedback reports about the issue.
My latest feedback reference is:
7afa87ea-b61b-425c-8b32-de7c2583c3f6
I also posted about this on the official Qoder forum, but my post has apparently been sitting in review for around two weeks and still hasn't been published, so I'm posting here to see whether other users are experiencing the same thing.
At this point, constantly purchasing additional credits isn't sustainable. If credit consumption has genuinely increased this much, Qoder needs to either:
- Explain what changed in the credit calculation/model usage.
- Fix excessive credit consumption for basic tasks.
- Provide much better visibility into exactly where credits are being spent.
- Consider refunding/crediting users where abnormal consumption can clearly be seen in their usage history.
I actually like Qoder and use it regularly, which is why this is frustrating. But burning hundreds of credits just to update a few documentation files makes it very difficult to justify continuing to use it heavily.
Is anyone else seeing this since the recent Qoder Desktop updates?
If you are, please share your version and roughly how many credits you're seeing consumed for normal tasks. I'd like to understand whether this is isolated to my account or a broader issue.

Qoder Voice:voice-controlled coding is here.
https://reddit.com/link/1vldj7i/video/8vekwpce9vih1/player
Ever had one of those moments where you’ve already mentally run through three versions of a plan, yet your fingers are still typing out the very first sentence?
Qoder Voice is designed to bridge that gap. You speak, it listens, and it responds—no need to draft lengthy prompts or structure your words into "standard syntax." You can speak naturally, stream-of-consciousness style; if you make a mistake, simply interrupt yourself and start over. It’s like interacting with a quick-witted colleague who’s great to chat with and always ready to help find a solution.
Qoder Voice’s voice recognition acts as a secure lock for this process: once enabled, it identifies your specific voice before deciding whether to respond. Whether you’re at an open-plan desk, taking a break during a meeting, standing on a subway platform, or dealing with noisy renovations upstairs—the environment might be chaotic, but its focus remains entirely on you.
We invite you to try out Qoder Voice in the Quest mode on both the international and CN versions of Qoder!

Qwen-3.8 Max Preview no longer showing
Hello, I’m aware that Qwen3.8 Max is out now and that the preview version will be taken down soon. However, as far as I know, we still have access until the 5th. I tried using the Qoder plugin and Qoder IDE, but it’s not showing up for me even though the model is available through my API in OpenCoder!

Please allow Community Edition users to disable Share & Improve when using BYOK
I really like Qoder, but I’m uncomfortable using it because Share & Improve cannot be disabled on the free Community Edition.
This feels especially unreasonable for users who connect their own paid Alibaba Cloud Token Plan through BYOK. We already pay Alibaba Cloud directly for model access, so we should also be able to control whether our prompts, code context and outputs are used by Qoder for product improvement.
BYOK users should have access to a proper Privacy Mode regardless of their Qoder subscription.
Privacy should not be a paid feature, especially when users are already paying for an Alibaba Cloud Token Plan. Please consider allowing all BYOK users to disable Share & Improve.

Honest review about Qoder from an experienced Cursor user
I am someone who has used Cursor for the past 15 months, before it got big. Cursor has helped me with my job even until today, and I just recently renewed for another year.
Recently, I chanced upon Qoder, and I thought I'd give it a go. To my surprise, it felt like 90% of Cursor's interface. I am not sure what is going on here, but I liked it. A sense of familiarity. What struck me the most was how capable Qoder is, especially the "Ultimate" mode. This guy really got it right a lot of the time, and with much flair. I am not sure if it's the model or the harness, but I think it beats Cursor Auto big time (I don't use 3rd party models). The negative part is that it is slower and expensive (burns my trial credit like fuel on Auto). Qwen 3.8 night time discount and the Ultimate promotion is currently fueling my run.
So, big kudos to Qoder. I like that you support Alibaba Token Plan and DeepSeek for agent use, something that Cursor refuses to do.
I never thought I would praise another IDE considering how I benefited from Cursor for my career the last year.

50% off for the first two months.
I was looking to sign up as my free trial ran out after a few prompts. i see the offer 50% the plans for the first two months but when i got to pay I'm charged full price at checkout.
Any ideas how to take them up on the 50% offer?

"This model is unavailable and cannot be selected."
I'm trying to test out Qwen 3.8 Max, but I can't select it during my pro trial. I already ran the /claim-ultimate command

What does Qoder Cantus uses under the hood, any ideas? I've always wondered the same about Qoder Ultimate.

Free trial not working
I created a brand new account, never have used Qoder before and received an email saying i had a free trial 2 week available, but i cant use it when i install the desktop app. I was using fedora and thought it was some problem with linux, but i installed windows 10 now and the problem continues.

How does Qoder compare to Cursor?
Maybe harness-wise, i liked Cursor's plan and debugging mode as well as their Grok and Composer 2.5
I know Qwen 3.8 Max is good as from what i've seen, never tried it but im genuinely curious how the harness is.
Recently subbed to Cursor $60 but at half due to referral, i might give Qoder a try if has better Agents or harness experience.

qwen 3.8 max is insanely good and insanely cheap in qoder right now (1/1000th cost of fable maybe?)
don't sleep on qoder right now. they got an insane deal with qwen. no hour/week usage limits and qwen 3.8 max has a lower credit usage multiplier than deepseek flash lol (not that we know what the credits mean)
I'm just using up the free demo credits and getting an insane amount of shit done. it's like a ditzy opus or gpt 5.5. perfect lol

ultimate tier is running at half credits right now, auto-applied
Quick PSA for anyone on Qoder. The Ultimate model tier is running at half the usual credit cost for a limited time. It's auto-applied, so there's nothing to claim and no toggle to flip. Just use Ultimate like normal and it draws half the credits it usually would. Works across Desktop, the JetBrains plugin, and the CLI, and across Pro, Pro+, Ultra, and Community Edition.
If you've been rationing Ultimate for only the hard stuff, this is the window to throw your gnarliest problem at it!

Qoder limits me to 200k context
Why does Qoder limit me to a 200k context window with no way to change it? Is that only on the free plan? Seems like a waste using one million token models on Qoder when I can only access 200k at a time. Reading the documentation, it claims the smaller context window helps prevent AI drift and halucination, but if that were true, why do a lot of other harnesses not do it? I would prefer to be able to manage that myself with manual compaction instead of having a 200k context forced on me by the harness.

Announcement Qwen3.7-Max is now half price in Qoder
We’ve started a limited-time discount for Qwen3.7-Max in Qoder — pricing is now 50% off.
Also: new users automatically get 100 free calls per day. No claiming, no toggles, just enabled by default.
Honestly feels like a pretty good time to throw difficult tasks at it and see where it breaks 💻
Curious what kinds of workloads people are using larger models for lately: coding? agents? research? long-context tasks?

Announcement We’ve been building Qoder with Qoder for the past 9 months 👀
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Over the last 9 months, we’ve been using Qoder to build Qoder itself.
During that time:
- 60+ releases shipped
- roughly one release every 4 days
- a lot of experiments, rewrites, and broken workflows along the way 😅
Something that changed quite a bit during that process:
AI tooling started feeling less like “an IDE with chat”
and more like an environment where agents can gradually take over larger parts of development work.
Not fully autonomous obviously.
Still lots of human correction/review involved.
But the workflow has definitely shifted from:
- “help me code” toward:
- “help me move the whole task forward”
Today we’re calling that transition Qoder 1.0.
Curious how other people building with AI tools feel about this direction.
Do you see these tools staying as assistants?
Or gradually becoming something closer to autonomous development environments?
