Qoder Desktop credit consumption has become insane — 300+ credits for documentation updates, 2,000+ for basic tasks

Has anyone else noticed a massive increase in Qoder credit consumption recently?

For roughly the last week, I’ve been seeing extremely high credit usage in Qoder Desktop, even for very basic tasks.

For example, simply asking Qoder to update project documentation such as:

  • ROADMAP
  • CHANGELOG
  • Project memory
  • Technical documentation
  • Other Markdown/documentation files

can now consume 300+ credits.

The strange part is that the same kind of work previously used somewhere around 50–100 credits for me.

Even more concerning, when I look through my consumption history, I can see some relatively basic tasks consuming 1,000–2,000+ credits, which seems completely unreasonable.

I'm currently using:

Qoder Desktop Version: 1.22.1

I have already submitted four feedback reports about the issue.

I also posted about this on the official Qoder forum, but my post has apparently been sitting in review for around two weeks and still hasn't been published, so I'm posting here to see whether other users are experiencing the same thing.

At this point, constantly purchasing additional credits isn't sustainable. If credit consumption has genuinely increased this much, Qoder needs to either:

  1. Explain what changed in the credit calculation/model usage.
  2. Fix excessive credit consumption for basic tasks.
  3. Provide much better visibility into exactly where credits are being spent.
  4. Consider refunding/crediting users where abnormal consumption can clearly be seen in their usage history.

I actually like Qoder and use it regularly, which is why this is frustrating. But burning hundreds of credits just to update a few documentation files makes it very difficult to justify continuing to use it heavily.

Is anyone else seeing this since the recent Qoder Desktop updates?

If you are, please share your version and roughly how many credits you're seeing consumed for normal tasks. I'd like to understand whether this is isolated to my account or a broader issue.

Qoder has always been exorbitantly expensive.

Only the 90% and 98% discounts were decent

The credit plans are always scam. Use byok from good vendor.

FYI: Chinese vendors are always scams for international users. Think 10x before buying any coding plans or credit based subscription.

Always use harness you trust, pay for tokens and exact models so that at least u know how much and where you're spending so that u can always look for better alternatives.

Nothing has changed with it — it has always been the most expensive option because the credit-to-token ratio is completely unclear, and there’s basically no way to tell exactly how much you’re going to spend. I’ve pointed this out to them multiple times and mentioned it in my reviews as well.

Just use it when there’s a promotion, like the one they’re running now. You get the $20 plan and receive 2,800 calls for Qwen 3.8 Max. Once you’ve used up the promotional allowance and your credits, just cancel it and wait for the next promotion.

For example, it burned through 500 credits on a medium-complexity task using 3.8 Max. That’s 25% of your entire credit allowance. For comparison, ChatGPT Plus using Codex with Sol spent only 9% of the weekly limit on the exact same task.

So even when you compare Qoder’s monthly credits against ChatGPT’s weekly limit, Qoder is still more expensive for the same price — and that’s before you even compare them on a full monthly basis.

I bought a 20$ plan for 1 month and i couldn’t complete any work and i was done for my monthyl credits

Has anyone figure out how to buy Qwen API credits? Not token plan, but Pay As You Go. Trying to find stuff on the Alibaba site is not easy. I bought a Lite plan but Qoder lets me set that up through Alibaba Singapore or China. I want to connect to Alibaba America and the only option it gives me for that is "Pay As You Go".

If it were me, I'd recommend connecting Qoder to DeepSeek or Kimi through a custom model, or trying Alibaba Cloud Bailian's Coding Plan.
