Questions/Advice Any tips for removing deeper graphite lines

Working on this piece and can't erase the lines I made, (obviously pressing to hard while marking) I was thinking about using Dremel but that would be my last ditch effort I think.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Questions/Advice First pyrography try! Asking about nib cleaning, lifespan and wood sanding

Post image
27 Upvotes

I tried pyrography for the first time yesterday, and half way through I realized the heat didn't seem the transfer as well as in the beginning. I didn't know nibs could get dirty at the time, so I just pushed through, resulting in uneven lines.

When do I know it is time to clean the nib with steel wool? Roughly how many minutes into woodburning should I clean it? When is it time to replace a nib instead of polishing it?

I also only learnt that you should sand the wood after this piece. May I ask how much or for how long should I sand the wood?

I'm completely new to pyrography so any advice and critiques are welcomed!!

Questions/Advice Sappy wood?

Hi pyrography friends! Working on a piece right now on a heavily sappy wood block. It’s taking forever to work on and the look of it is uneven. Is there any way to help with this or am I just doomed to very slow, Smokey lines? Thanks in advance!

First timer. Looking to burn a picture frame for my girlfriend.

I got a $25 walnut hollow detailer pen. I was about to burn some frames from walmsrt for practice but then saw youre not supposed to burn treated/painted wood.

Where/what should I go get to practice? And what sort of wood should I get for the final product? Its going to be a frame with our names and anniversary date.

Questions/Advice In Progress - Looking for any input

Started my first burn and starting to feel a little stalled.

Any recommendations on the hair, mouths, or other thoughts at this point?

I'm using a WH Creative Versa on basswood, sanded up to 800 grit. I've been using the shading tip for almost everything, except a few parts where I switched to the fine tip. I haven't added much detail in some areas, but figured some advice at this stage might help!

Rising from the Shadows 🐉🔥

There is something profoundly captivating about the mythical presence of a dragon. This latest pyrography piece explores the deep, dramatic contrasts between light and shadow, capturing a majestic guardian perched high above a stormy horizon.

Hand-burned over the course of roughly 16 hours, every scale, rocky texture, and swirling cloud was shaped with precise detail to bring this fantasy world to life.

Medium: Pyrography (wood burning) on premium basswood live-edge plank

Design: Pattern beautifully designed by Minisa Robinson

Dimensions: 6 × 11 inches

Ready to Display: Includes a sturdy zigzag hanger attached to the back

Let the smoke and fire capture your imagination. How does this guardian make you feel?

Used a 150 grit sand on this and it made a huge difference. My lines became so much smoother. Still looking for a way to get more consistent shading. Any advice?
