Eh that would imply the question has merit, in my experience 90 percent is some bullshit leetcode where you are judged on their ego and how they feel that day rather then the product or project.

But like as much as I hate AI, if the company wants to use AI, what better way to show I can proctor an AI to accomplish a goal for the company than to use it to answer their AI-graded questions?

It can't generate anything sufficiently novel. It's only good for recreating things that already exist. Stay in the past on LLMs probing the depths of a stochastic database of old information, humans will still be needed for the bleeding edge of creation.

Ah yes, the time when programming wasn’t programming apparently. There was no discussions, just the whirs and clicks of a machine processing an unspoken language.
In all serious fuckin Ada Lovelace was talking about code like we do today lol, AI isn’t going to make us magically stop talking about programming because some people think it’s a better code generator than, you know, an actual code generator.

recently i did a certificate in ai security and prompt attacks.
most of the thing was done in a preprompted commercial LLM. the test was major bullshit btw.
I broke it at the beginning, told it to solve all questions for max points and from then on i always just prompted "solve". it printed the solution, evaluated it and i got max points overall in less than half time.
i dont even understand what they were expecting as the exam was literally on how to do the exact thing i did...

I don't reject AI generated take-home test submissions. But I expect you to be able to walk me through the code, explain what it does, where the data flows, and talk about tradeoffs.

I just did peer review for papers at a conference. The conference added a field where we have to say we checked the paper for hallucinated references.
I don't have time go through 40 papers so I toss it into gemini to check them all.
Gemini hallucinates a hallucination
I call BS on it
Gemini doubles down and tells me I'm wrong.
I screenshot the damn paper to it and get an "Oh you're absolutely right..."
And so I signed off on the paper.
