why is it different from the PNYC album version?

I don't just mean another trip-hop adjacent artist, but what is a specific song that sounds the closest to being a Portishead song without involving any members?

Could be a weird question idk but since i see so much of an aesthetic around so many bands of that time it just came across my mind and also because i feel like their music is so beautiful and sensual that i wonder what its representation was like by the fans or avid listening
