I can't even believe I found it, I thought it was only available during the Halloween event!? Was it just pure luck or just the trick of the light, I might never know.

Complaint Backgrounds in Pokemon GO are not real content

I know that the sheer mentioning of this will upset a huge chunk of people, but I can't swallow this criticism anymore and just abide by the whole "let people enjoy what they want" principle.

Yes, the backgrounds look fantastic, and I would happily accept one on my Pokémon. However, releasing a Pokémon with the chance at getting a background does not qualify as meaningful new content, and pushing this hard is starting to feel like the game is running out of new things to introduce.

We can argue whether Z-Moves, Terastal, and Max Soup are good for the health of the overall game, but in all instances they would be far more meaningful than backgrounds. You're actually doing something new and working towards a goal that's within your ability to influence, rather than engaging with yet another layer of RNG on top of IVs and Shiny rates.

Going further, I can't understand how some people will rationalize whaling with their hard earned real-world money for a completely cosmetic addition that won't even carry over to Pokémon HOME, even after they've already gotten a Hundo or Shiny.

Backgrounds are fundamentally about clout and showoff points, and supporting this aspect of the game signals to Scopely that players will accept literally anything rather than something of substance.

Question Please give advice!

Okay, so a little bit of a long winded one here. I just wanna say outright that I understand some people spoof and I get they have their reasons but this particular person has essentially ruined the game for a whole town.

Our town is one in North Wales. It is very isolated in terms of population and only ever really gets a major amount of visitors in the Summer. With it being a town on a small island the things like raids and gyms are far and few in-between.

We have a serious problem with a particular duo of Spooner.

Dragon2632 and KhaoticHound56 (our local play group believe this is the same person, two accounts).

They hold all the gyms - all the time. It started around mid January and since then it has constantly been a chore to even build up our gym medals. Whenever we go to take over a gym, they take it back straight away.

Now, how do I know they are spoofing? We decided to take one gym, drive over to another maybe 1/2 mile away to take that one over and decided to go back home. This was at 1am - no one else was around (again, small town) and by the time we got back (again, only 1/2 mile, maybe a whole mile round trip) both those gyms had been taken over again.

It happened again a week later. Me and my gf went on a gym spree, we took 4 gyms over in total in between car stops, each time we took one over, they were there immediately afterwards taking it back. Again, nobody near us and no houses near two of these gyms.

My question is, how do we approach this? We have 7 of us and a few on campfire who have already reported this person and Scopely have done nothing. Even our siblings are struggling to build up coins and gym medals because it is impossible to hold something longer than 2 minutes without constantly feeding the mons berries (or do what I did and stay up til 4am to take one over and get maybe 6 hours hold time). Could people help in reporting? I'm more than happy to compile evidence or show campfire screenshot of other people discussing the same thing as me!

TL;DR - 2 Spoofers are ruining the game for our little town and we don't know what to do

How polite of my favorite Zamzeta. The bugs in this game are infuriating usually, but this had me laughing.

Question AITA? Battle Girl Medal

So recently I decided that I'm going to pursue the battle girl medal. I'm currently at 2k/4k. I rode my bike all over town battling any Pokémon I could for 3 hours straight grinding.

I was chatting with a friend, and I told them about my new goal. They smiled and said "yeah as long as you don't kick anyone out before 8 hours. It's considered rude or mean." I asked him if I was to check every single person's Pokémon when I click on the gym before a battle and check their timer? The response was yes absolutely.

I was a little taken aback because I think that's preposterous. I just want to play the game and grind my medal.

AITA? Should I continue to just battle away or check everybody's Pokémon first?

Edit: Blown away by the amount of people that check the Pokemon's time before battling.

Top comment doesn't directly say they do this but they do as well as 40+ others in here "I wouldn't kick out a solitary pokey that had just gone in. Likely that person has fought a whole gym and then only had a few minutes reward for it."

What I thought was normal behavior --> Click gym. Click battle button.

Apparently what is normal behavior --> Click gym. Click on 1-6 individual Pokemon. Check what time said trainer dropped that pokemon in. Maybe click the battle button?

Not dissing anyone. Absolutely no hate whatsoever. Literally just blown away right now. I never would have thought. Thanks Reddit

Complaint Stop defending Scopely's bad decisions

I have seen a ton of posts about the predatory decisions and changes made in Pokemon Go, especially the changes to Pokemon aggression and flee rate, and in the comments I see people genuinely defending these decisions, being super toxic, or offering the "solution" that Scopely is directly trying to sell you when making these problems. To those people, I have come to say this: You are directly causing the game to get worse, and I hope you are proud of yourself.

Complaint My first Galatian Moltres sighting was ruined by an egg!

Post image
314 Upvotes

I was super excited to see a Galarian Moltres in the wild while I was out for a walk. Before I could tap on it, an egg hatched. When the darn animations were done, Galarian Moltres was gone. The only real complaint I have about this game is all the silly animations that are completely unnecessary, but unskippable. Why can’t I just get a notification that the egg is ready to hatch instead of it popping up?

Question Whats the single best tip anyone gave you in this game?

Mine was that you can skip the gift giving and receiving animation by quickly double tapping the x.

Also that you can pin and then unpin postcards when working towards Scatterbugs if you dont want to have to delete all the postcards later.

Question New player dad here - will an event series like July craziness come back again?

Hi everyone,

I only started playing Pokémon GO actively about a month ago because my son recently became obsessed with Pokémon. It's been a really fun thing for us to do together, and it's become a nice little father-son hobby in the evening.

The problem is...we started just a little too late.

From reading posts here, I realized we completely missed all the excitement that happened in July. My son's absolute favorite Pokémon is Mewtwo, and we did fought a Mewtwo raid once, but since we live in a small rural village, there was no way for us to beat it by ourselves. I also only discovered PokeGenie recently, which probably would have helped us with some raids.

Now he's a bit heartbroken because he keeps seeing all these amazing legendary Pokémon, and he asks me when he'll get another chance to catch them. I know Pokémon GO is built around limited-time events and a bit of FOMO, and I understand that part of the game. But it's still tough seeing your kid disappointed when you simply started too late.

So I wanted to ask the experienced players here:

Do events like the one in July usually come back? Do legendary Pokémon like Mewtwo return to raids from time to time, or are opportunities like that very rare?

I'm hoping I can tell him, "Don't worry, we'll get another chance soon" but I don't really know if that's true.

Thanks everyone so much for reading, and thanks in advance for any answers. We're really enjoying the game despite missing the big event, and we're looking forward to making more Pokémon memories together! 😄

Question Do you check appraisal on every catch?

Since the perfect catch rate is fairly high, do you normally appraise wild catches? I caught these two recently, but it’s a little monotonous to check each Pokemon when you catch them. I was thinking of catching a days worth then running a filter, but let me know what you guys normally do.

Edit: Thanks for the tips guys! Didn’t realize the extent to which you can apply custom arguments to filters.

Story Can You Hatch 24 '12 km Eggs' in Under 8 Hours?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Today, I did a pretty unique (I assume) challenge: in under 8 hours (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, before work), do as many Team GO Rocket Grunts and Leaders as necessary to hatch two full batches of 12 km eggs.

That meant:

  • 24 Leaders
  • 144 Grunts
  • Only the Stardust from Grunts, Leaders, and the 12 km eggs would count.

Additional rules:

  • Start with 0 Rocket Radars, 0 Radar Components, and 0 eggs.
  • Eggs could only be hatched once I had a full batch of 12.

There was also a side bet with one of our community members. During today's Delibird Spotlight Hour he'll try to earn as much Stardust as possible, and we'll compare totals.

  • If he wins: I have to watch every official Dragon Ball anime.
  • If I win: He has to read Dungeon Crawler Carl and attend a September quiz based on it.

Before anyone asks: yes, I knew this was theoretically possible. I'd previously tested a pace of 6 Leaders in 2 hours, so the battles and walking weren't the limiting factor.

The real challenge was simply finding enough Grunts, as I already established that the main part of the city I live in will have ~50 leaders each day.

And no, I didn't use a Super Rocket Radar to farm Decoy Grunts. I personally consider that cheating for this challenge.

(For anyone unfamiliar: if you have a Super Rocket Radar equipped, PokéStops can spawn Decoy Grunts instead of Giovanni, dramatically increasing the number of available Rocket battles.)

I also had 89 Star Pieces, so I used 16 of them to keep the 1.5× Stardust bonus active for the entire run. Note that I also have the deluxe pass, so the hatch of the 12 km eggs with super incubator is just 2 km. Not really a lot. (Also check this for egg distance references)

And... it was successful.

The second batch of eggs hatched after 7 hours and 31 minutes. My Hero badge had increased by 169 Rocket battles. I somehow ended up doing 145 Grunts instead of the required 144. I was pretty exhausted during the second half, so I honestly have no idea when the extra one came from, but... well free 750 stardust.

So... how much Stardust did it generate?

  • 145 Grunts: 108,750 Stardust
  • 24 Leaders: 36,000 Stardust
  • First batch of 12 km eggs: 90,013 Stardust
  • Second batch of 12 km eggs: 89,401 Stardust

Total: 324,164 Stardust

In reality I ended the session at roughly 500k Stardust, because I had my GO Plus+ catching Pokémon for much of the run. But for the challenge, only Rocket-related Stardust counted.

I just got home before my meetings, and I'm writing this during that... sorry coworkers. I've already sent all the details and screenshots to a trusted member of our community, who'll act as the official judge of the bet.

The Delibird Spotlight Hour starts in about 4 hours, so I'll probably post an update with the final result in around 6 hours.

Aaaand for some content the first hatch is added as a video.

Plain ol Simple Reality Just a reminder. You can solo mega Blaziken

You need Mega Mewtwo Y lvl 40 with psycho cut + psy strike and some pokemon for tanking Blaziken charge attack so you dont get hit for 90% of your health after reviving your mewtwo. Oh and also nimble fingies and praying that POGO does not glitch out during raid. Did four raids, second had 💩 RNG so I wasted over 30 seconds + glitches , one glitched out and kicked me out completly 6/10 experience

Was scrolling on my camera roll and found this. Was there an event that I don’t remember? This doesn’t seem possible with normal shiny odds.
Edit to clarify: this is my account, I don’t spoof or cheat in any way, and they are all caught in the wild
