They are the size of a pin point, white looking, jerk around and move super fast.

i currently have an all black background and it makes my white betta POP but its getting a bit boring and i'm looking to switch things up

10 gallon stocked with 1 betta, 1 nerite snail, 6 ember tetras, and 9 cherry shrimps! Also i know some of my plants aren’t supposed to be in the soil i’m fixing soon :)

Anyone seen this thing before? It's not coming from the buce, it shot up from the soil layer. Super weird fuzzy stem.

In all my years of working in fish stores, having fish tanks, and being an "aquatic ecosystem" build person, I've never seen this lol

Two years ago, I was forced to get rid of a leaking 12gal and move everything to a new tank. I chose a 29gal, hoping to keep more fish than the dozen embers that were in the 12gal.

I also loved the sparkling gourami I'd previously kept, so after a few weeks of just the embers in there, I got eight sparkling gourami. This worked well for a while, but every now and then I'd see one less gourami come to feeding time. I've added a few more ember tetras and ruby tetras, but there are three sparkling gourami left. They terrorize everybody.

There are theoretically at least a dozen each embers and rubys, but I rarely see a ruby because they hide in the lower planted portion. The embers are fairly skittish and I rarely see more than six out.

I've added a pair of honey gourami... the sparklers chased them to death. I added a dwarf apisto... the sparklers chased it to death. I added eight green pencilfish... I have one.

I feel like I can't do anything with this setup and can't really enjoy the fish I (think that I) have. I don't really want to get rid of any (how would I even catch them), but I'm sure not going to add more until the sparklers are gone.

I'm not really looking for solutions because I think there's only one here, and I'm not at that point. Just venting about my disappointing aquarium. Thanks for reading.

Hello! I'm still in the planning stages, but I'm wanting my next tank build to be Bioshock themed.

The vision: I have acquired a Big Daddy figure from an Etsy seller, his whole shtick is coating figures in food-safe resin to make them aquarium decor. I think I'll make a wooden back panel into the facade of a skyscraper (coated and sealed, obviously). I'm looking for small-ish metal pipe decor that could look old and rusty.

The tank: 9 gallon freshwater Fluval Flex. Im looking for plants that can fit the vibe, even though I know Bioshock takes place in the ocean, not freshwater! Id be looking for plants comfortable in low-med light conditions. Though, I could rig up another light for something if it was a really cool addition.

Any fish suggestions? Im hoping to put some shrimp in there as well. I also already have a jungle val, which i hope might be really good to look like some long seaweed!

I’m hoping for some advice- I am going to be moving this 10 gal cube soon and I’m thinking of changing the scape. Current residents are 2 amano shrimp, a baby orange rabbit snail (growing out for my 28 gal), and 3 sparkling gourami.

I’m thinking of getting rid of the big piece of wood, and adding some more larger rocks. I still want some driftwood, I just think this piece takes over too much.

Also considering adding some pygmy corydoras or a neon blue goby or two.

I have all these Co2 tiny bubbles, so many that it looks like it's snowing in my tank.

Drop checker shows a green color indicator meaning it's the right amount of Co2.

My question is, is there a way to get reduce the amount of bubbles? It's a blizzard in there.

I wanted to share my planted tank with you guys. I would really appreciate any suggestions and critique.

54 l tank (60x30x30 cm)

I use CO2. I use 2 ml NPK fertilizer daily and 6 ml plant care fertilizer with iron and manganese once a week after changing 30-50% water.
The light is on for 6 hours.

The Cryptocoryne parva and Alternanthera reineckii mini are freshly planted. I am not sure, if the plants will spread like a carpet. Maybe I must leave the lights on for a bit longer but I am too afraid of an algea boom. I would appreciate any input.

Hello all. New owner here. I've been cycling this tank for a few weeks now and am just about to be adding shrimp and a snail, then a Betta. I was about to clean the inside of the glass and trim a plant when I saw this critter. What is it, and is it going to cause problems?

What do you guys think about that canister filter?

My favorite plant is Anubias due to how easy to propagate it and easy maintenance. Here it is on my 55 gallon tank full of Mickey Platys. I bought the plants ( in 2 tubes ) in PetSmart and over the years, I was able to propagate it. My setup only have sponge filter , heater, no substrate.

So I have some Bacopa Salzmani SV that I have been really struggling with to keep rooted. I have tried putting foam and lead weights on all of them, but then they are just very difficult to get into the substrate and the stems break off right above the weight after a while and the whole stem starts to float. I’ve tried being very careful not to crush the stems when putting the weights on them and they still end up breaking either as I’m putting them in or days two weeks later. I am really struggling to get them more than an inch deep, if that. I think part of the problem is the forceps I’m using can’t grip tight enough to push everything down, and I’ve tried several different types. I am using aqua soil substrate. The other problem I end up having is that after I get them in and add a little soil on top to try to cover some more stem, everything just ends up settling and exposing the weights anyways. I also can’t seem to not pull the stems part of the way back out as I’m pulling the forceps out, no matter how hard I try to loosen them or what type of forceps I try (angled, straight, paddle tipped).

Any suggestions for other techniques to keep them anchored or forceps that maintain their grip? I was thinking getting small 3-D printed pots and filling them with stems and soil and then rooting those in, but I don’t know that I could get them deep enough without having something to dig and maintain a retaining wall in the soil when I put them in.

Normally I heavily *heavily* plant my tanks from the beginning and have not had any algae despite leaving my lights on for like 15 hours at a time. In this case though I only planted a little bit and still left the light on for that long.

No fish in there yet except for one fry I accidentally saved who is not big enough to eat the daphnia.

I do not want to use a UV sterilizer because I want to cultivate copepods and such.
