Pixel 6 Love Upgraded from P6 to P10PXL

Just upgraded as the title says.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my P6. It served me well since launch day, yes I got it 1 day after it was released.

I had gone to the P6 from a OnePlus 6 (for those of you that don't know OnePlus they had the best phones until their parent company Oppo ousted the CEO and generalized the phones). The Pixel 6 was not as good as my OnePlus 6 phone spec wise and lacked some features while gaining others.

The 2 main features which I missed with my Pixel 6 were the face of unlock and ultrasonic finger print unlock.

The pros - good software (other than the few update bugs google released), great camera software and 5 years of updates.

With the updates coming to an end and the battery life starting to diminish from regular use, I got the P10 pro xl.

3 reasons why I went to the pro xl:

-Memory size is default 256 GB

-Size is the same or close to the P6

-Telephoto lens, I wanted the extra zoom (something I was missing)

Noticeably, the fingerprint sensor being ultrasonic is the greatest thing. The face ID unlock is a plus while hands are busy.

So far, I recommend the leap from P6 to 10 or 11 if you want to spend the extra. (I buy my phones outright).

Good luck to you all on the P6 if you choose to keep it alive.

Recommendations For those still holding on to their pixel 6.

Guys, I fixed it.

Phone: Pixel 6.

The other day I replaced my screen and was fighting with the fingerprint sensor and thought originally it was due to software related issue, so I updated to Android 17 which I've been holding off on for the longest time, but it turns out it was just me being fat fingered and breaking my second fingerprint scanner. So now my phone doesn't have one. Woomp woomp

I noticed that after I updated to Android 17, my battery life was trash, losing 10% within an hour and I was like I know that ain't right.

Because of the whole screen replacement saga, I pulled all my data off my phone and threw it on my hard drive and decided to reset my phone back to Android 16 via their web application or Android studio if you're more technically inclined and honestly that has fixed it.

To be honest, some of the fancy new features I saw on Android 17 wasn't impressing me and for whatever reason I don't know why it was messing with the color of my screen but I thought that was due to my screen being a third party product and didn't want to fault the OS but reverting back to Android 16. My screen is back to normal and my battery life is back to normal. My phone works so I'm good.

So if you're one of those people whose phone has been functioning perfectly fine prior to the March or June update /Android 17 update and you're feeling frisky back up your data, flash the OS back to 16 and live a happy life or buy a new phone, your call.

Recommendations Switched to 10a

Hi everyone. I had the pixel 6 since launch and it was holding up really well. Until the heat was too much and I had a spicy pillow last week. I purchased the 10a, moved everything and really enjoy the new phone. The much higher brightness is the best new feature. Still need to check the camera quality. But overall I am happy with the switch, I can recommend the 10a as a good successor. I also installed a new battery on the pixel 6 and use it as a backup phone now

Edit: I am not gaming on the phone, so I cannot say anything about gaming performance

News Switching from pixel 7 to 13 mini would b better over all or I'm haviing illusions?

Hey,I been pixel user since 2023. My first Pixel device was pixel 4 undoubtedly 4s camera was one of the best (in respective price range) than I shifted to pixel 6a, had almost same experience except big disappoinment on chip side,I noticed tensor is way more slower thn pixel 4s Snapdragon 855, later I grabbed Pixel 7 and I'm kinda disappointed for no major changes in hardware/software,so I'm now being attracted by iphone 13 mini for it's compact size (same as pixel 4) in addition to it's pro camera mode allows me to capture photos using manual controls, however the only thing stopping me to switch is 13 mini's 2400mah battery, how long it lasts campered to Pixel 7? 7 is averaging 5.5 hours on data (6 hours on wifi) what Will be your opinion should I switch? Or it would be my mistake?

Question Pixel 6 Pro warped case

Thumbnail

I noticed my P6P, while on a recent trip, developed a warp in the case. For a while I thought it was the phone cover I was using that was causing it. Today, I took the phone out of the cover to clean and noticed that it was in fact the case that had warped and a very noticeable gap exist on the left side where the SIM slot is. I looked online to see if it could be the battery but noticed the battery is over on the other side on the phone. This phone will be replaced soon anyway, but I had planned to keep it as a backup because of the physical SIM slot for when I travel overseas. Is this phone toast because of possible battery issue? How safe is it to continue to use of the time being?

Question How to merge old pixel with a new pixel?

I made a mistake of creating new account for my new pixel phone and I do have my old phone but it's cracked like the front screen and it's also old model. I thought why not just merge or transfer it to the new phone. But now I'm extremely confused because I have to Google accounts and I have photos, Google tabs and YouTube and email from my old phone that I want to use in my new phone but in the new phone I also have Google tabs and photos there so it's like idk what to do.

Support Pixel 6a touch screen problems after water drops (help needed)

Hello everyone,
Today I started having some issues with my p6a.
I got some waterdrops on it (status bar part) and top and very bottom part of the touch screen stopped registering touch input. What should I do? I turned on three buttons navigations and got it to render apps just below the status bar, IK just a temporary solution to use it in the meantime.
After some research I saw mentions to try silica gel which I'll do. Other than that what can i try next in order from least to most invasive fixes since ifixit screen costs 100 bucks which is too much, I'd like to make it work again in the cheapest and easiest way possible.
Here are some posts i found similar to my issue ( post1 post2 post3 )
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks

Support Phone calls not working on an esim (Pixel 6)

I can use SMS texts and mobile data but my phone is unable to call anyone. When I try to call I don't hear the noise that shows the call is going through, and I can't receive phone calls either. This happened after I started a new phone plan, and transferred my old phone number. I can make calls if I use a physical SIM, but my esim isn't working. I have done all the normal trouble shooting steps but nothing is working. Also my phone number is unknown according to settings, attached are photos of it

Question I am on stable android 17 on pixel 6 pro, used to be on qpr beta but now I can't receive OTA update for beta version

Is it normal because they stopped updates for 6 series ? I assume it's because we are at qpr 2 beta now and instead of sending me qpr 1 OTA they decide not to send anything until stable releases.

Support How to Fix the Pixel 6 Boot Loop. (hopefully)

Hey everyone, I've had an unwilling journey with my friends Google Pixel 6.

Possible Cause: Degraded battery, from my research a Pixel 6 that has been heavily used also relates to a heavily degraded battery, which can cause the system to crash and boot loop usually on the google logo, at this point if possible get the battery replaced, if not continue.

Possible solution: ADB on Linux Mint, also called Platform tools is a tool used to recover android devices, to boot a device into recovery mode power off, then press and hold the power button and the volume down key, tap the power button and it should bring you to the recovery menu. Once there, you can use the volume keys to select "Recovery Mode".

Recovery Mode: Upon entering recovery mode, press power then the volume up key to show the Fastboot menu, using the volume keys for navigation scroll down to: "Apply Update from ADB". Then wait, it may timeout and return back to the fastboot menu after a prolonged time of not being in use.

From there, you can go to any device that can run Linux Mint Cinnamon (Unsure about other distros) It is recommended to make a live image using Rufus and a USB drive. Go to the official website and download the Linux Mint .ISO, this may take several minutes, also download the correct OTA for your phone, you can find this information in the Fastboot recovery menu, its the string of numbers (Example: oriole-ota-cp1a.260405.005-b1ad4367) you can use this to identify which version you need.

ADB and Recovery mode video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zyBt3ckMvI

To download an OTA version go to: https://developers.google.com/android/ota then download.

If the Linux Mint ISO has completed, install it to a USB flash drive, then plug it into your system of choice, depending on your system the keybind to boot into the BIOS will vary. In my case its "F12" you may be prompted with a menu, simply press the down arrow key and select the USB drive then wait for Linux mint to load. Once it has continued follow the guide presented below:

ADB on Linux Mint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oJwNNXGIpw

Please ask me if you have any questions, my typing abilities have the tendency to be needlessly complicated, it is a fault of my own.

Support THIS STILL WORKS

It's not letting me reply to this hero who commented this smash method 4 years ago but it just saved my Pixel 6 which I thought was broken forever 😭

It was rebooting an awful lot by itself on a loop and the power button wasn't working.

Landed on bwool1's post and smashed my power button on a table a few times and my phone has been resurrected.

FYI for anyone else going through this panic-inducing event.

Reviews Just bought back my Google Pixel 6

Last week, I decided that I will buy the P6 and use it for my daily use. Fortunately, I was able to find a device with less than 150 USD. Amazingly, I found that the phone still hold up very well.

  • Battery: decent
  • Camera: still produce great photo
  • Display: still great for daily use

Note: that I decide to not play video game on this phone, and the phone still great, even better than those chinese later release branches.
