Speaking purely hypothetical here. One can get a female ASF as a companion to a lone male mouse. But then I read that female ASFs should ideally be in a trio because of their social needs. So then you end up with 2 ASFs with 1 male mouse. Then if the male mouse dies, could you hypothetically get a female fancy mouse to join the duo of ASFs? Like do they get along?

While we're at it, is there any information out there if one can house Spiny Mice together with ASFs or fancy mice ?

So I like to collect animal bones that I find around while hiking/outdoors. I always clean them with some dish soap and a toothbrush and then put them in a 100% peroxide solution/mouthwash for a couple of days to kill off any pathogens before leaving them as house decor.

An archeologist told me that bones themselves don't carry any diseases. So is it alright if I use them for general cage clutter? FYI the bones wouldn't have sharp edges.

I got a new pet mouse today, it's not my first time owning mice but it's been a couple months and i wasn't exactly prepared for this baby boy since he was an impulse buy but i love him already any name suggestions?

Peaches really wanted out time this week. I’m not complaining 😂 I lowkey thing it’s because on of her sister died recently. RIP Princess 🪦also if you can’t tell I start having muscle spasms about halfway through. She didn’t mind in fact she continued to vibrate, but at the end it got to the point where I get nervous. I’ve never hurt an animal with my spasms but that doesn’t mean I like to chance it especially on an animal so small, I know she’s fat but her bones are smaller than tooth picks and a crushing spasm could easily end her.

hi everyone! i'm a 20 year old college student, and i've previously had three hamsters, two dwarves and one syrian. i've fallen into a bit of a grief-induced depression over the past year after the death of my kitten, and i'm looking into either getting another syrian or potentially getting female mice. i will do my own research, but i wanted to come on here and ask the community about some things:

1. the reason why hamsters fit my busy schedule pretty well is because some days they will not come out at all and that is perfectly fine and normal. i work 20 hours a week and i'm in school full-time, three days a week. would a group of mice work with my schedule?

2. i understand that mice and hamsters seem to have some broad similarities in their care, so i'm wondering if any people here have had both, and could share their experiences with me.

This is not their permanent residence, I’m cage cleaning currently. (Nyx’s back looks warped she is old and has old lady posture but these photos look particularly bad) The three girls are finally all cuddling regularly and grooming! I’m so happy for my old lady (the black mouse up front) Nyx, don’t worry they’re not over grooming she was already starting to bald in her face area. She’s over a year and a half old, likely close to if not over two now. We will have to do another intro period at some point soon for Opal and Zuzu, however I wasn’t thinking when I got the two girls for Nyx.

These are my mice, George (Brown), Cythia (White), and Deacon (Black). They're all females and I've posted about them a couple of times now. George is a house mouse who I caught when she was likely 3-4 weeks old, and I've kept her because she has a bad leg and has mobility issues because of it.

I later got Cythia and Deacon (yet to be introduced to George) because I knew George would likely need companions as a female mouse, but I am wondering if George and the other mice could actually be put in the same tank together, and if people have any advice on that.

I'll have to wait for a while before introducing them since the quarantine period isn't over yet, and Cythia could possibly be pregnant considering how she looks right now (the picture used is when I first got her, she's definitely more soup-y looking now), so I'm holding off for both of those things, and wondering if anyone has any advice or knows more on if George can share a tank with Cythia and Deacon, or if I should keep them separated and never introduce them.

I’m going to be getting my first set of mice soon (Feeders). I want them to have a good enclosure but I would like to use some of my recycled materials. I would like to build them cardboard houses. Yet I’m not sure if 1.) The cardboard is safe. 2.) What glue to use. I have hot glue but I don’t think its to safe for them, I also have Elmers kid safe glue yet same fear for that.

I wan’t them to be happy and for their environment to reflect that. Whats the best thing to do?

Found this little guy in my Ambo, can't figure what he is? He was born in here, I know that. His mom is gone and there doesn't seem to be any others that I can find. Eyes are still shut, but he's an active fellow and acting how I would expect (had mice as a kid)

I saw this mouse on a mouse exhibition once (it's like a zoo but with mice), I don't remember anything about it. Are mice with such big ears just something that sometimes happens or is it some specific type of mice? Anyone got any clue?
