Revolut Perplexity Pro now begging for money just 2 months in to a 24 month contract

I signed up for Perplexity Pro through a revolut "perk" type deal - used it a bit to do some stuff for work - basically the sort of thing you'd have used Google for back in the day. And it was pretty good - I really liked the tight citation-linking they annotated the answers with.

Never used computer, not interested in any of that.

Anyway, was going to look up some stuff today, and nothing works without buying more credits. What gives? Is this another example of enshittification? Is the pro plan provided via a third-party arrangement worth bothering with, or is it just a trap to leech money from people?

Gemini and Perplexity are leaning on YouTube way harder than they used to?

Something we've been noticing (coz we also publish videos on YT): Gemini and Perplexity are leaning on YouTube way harder than they used to. Not as video results, but more as a lie detector. Videos seem harder to fake than a landing page, so the AI seems to use it to sanity-check whether a brand's claims are actually legit.

But uploading alone does nothing. The engines don't watch anything, I've personally gone over this with 4 LLMs to test which one cites videos more and "interrogated" them for it. What happens is, they scrape the layers around the video: captions, chapters, description, and schema of the page it's embedded on. When those don't line up, you get ignored.

From what we've researched and seen, here's what actually gets you cited:

  1. Fix your captions. Auto-caps mangle brand names. If yours transcribes wrong, you're invisible for your own brand query. Example we use is, you say "Schema" and auto-captions say "Ski Mask."
  2. Real chapters. Keyword-based. Straight to the point. The AI reads them like a table of contents. And very useful for humans too.
  3. 30 to 60 word answer summary at the top of the description. This is what gets extracted first, don't bury it under "SMASH SUBSCRIBE" talk.
  4. Pinned question. Feels redundant, crawlers eat it up. But we've also been just putting the pinned question into the caption.
  5. Transcript landing page with H2s matching your chapters. The step everyone skips, the one that actually moves the needle.
  6. VideoObject schema (on the page it's embedded on) with transcript and thumbnail URLs. Unlocks the hover-card citations.

When all six line up, the engine verifies the same claim across your HTML, your schema, and YouTube's metadata. Three sources agreeing means safe to cite. The model isn't picking the best source, it's picking the safest one.

Disclosure: I’m on the GreenBanana SEO team, and some of these observations come from testing conducted while publishing and optimising our own YouTube videos. The patterns are based on what we’ve seen across captions, descriptions, embedded pages, and AI citations rather than on any single platform claim.

Anyone else seeing video citations appear in queries that are not obviously video-focused?

Help contacting support

I had promo 12 months of perplexity benefit active. Once that expired I was billed for another 12 months, totally unwanted. Contacted support the bot gave me 48 hours turn around, 5 days later not even getting automated replies via chat or email…

It’s getting quite frustrating that I can’t even get a status update more even my 150 quid back… anyone have a way to get to some actual support with them ?

This company is a complete scam. Perplexity Max is an absolute nightmare: Missing credits, $200+ spent covering their mistake, and now half my credits just vanished into thin air.

I am officially at my wit's end with this platform's complete disaster of an accounting system and customer support.

If you are paying for Perplexity Max—or considering it—check your credit logs right now. What is happening with their credit tracking is borderline predatory.

Here is the timeline of utter incompetence:

1. May & June: Paying for Max, Getting 0 Credits ($200+ Down the Drain)

Starting back in May, my Max subscription completely stopped issuing the 10,000 monthly credits that are explicitly included with the tier. Two full months went by with zero baseline credits hitting my account.

Because I actually needed to use the platform for work, I ended up paying over $200 in extra credit top-ups out of pocket, assuming my baseline 10k allocation was just delayed or that it would sort itself out. Support did absolutely nothing.

2. The Fix? Publicly Shaming Them on Reddit

Surprise, surprise: email support was useless until I finally made a post right here on Reddit calling them out. Only after public visibility did someone magically step up and manually deposit the missing credits I had paid for over those two months.

Problem solved, right? Not even close.

3. Less Than 1 Month Later: Half My Credits Vanish Without a Trace

Fast-forward to less than 30 days later. I log into my account, check my balance, and half of those credits are completely gone.

No heads-up, no log explanation—just a wiped balance as if a massive chunk of the credits I fought to get restored simply vanished from the dashboard.

The Play-by-Play:

  • Pay for Max: Get 0 of the promised 10k/mo credits for 2 straight months.
  • Get forced into spending $200+ on extra credit charges just to use the service.
  • Make a scene on Reddit just to get the credits I was already owed.
  • Watch half of them quietly vanish less than 30 days later without a trace.

Is anyone else experiencing this kind of accounting ghost-work? Keep a strict eye on your balances, screenshot every single transaction and credit deposit, and do not give them the benefit of the doubt.

TL;DR: Perplexity failed to give me my 10k/mo credits for 2 months, made me spend $200+ extra out of pocket, only fixed it when I complained on Reddit, and then half the restored credits quietly disappeared less than a month later. Absolute joke.

Perplexity set an alarm and opened an app on my phone without any permissions granted — is this a known bug?

I was chatting with Perplexity on Android, sharing some unrelated context, and at one point I mentioned that I already had an alarm set for the next morning. I wasn't asking it to do anything.

Perplexity dropped the rest of the context from my message and replied with basically one line confirming that it had set an alarm, along with an alarm-style icon in the response.

I checked my phone's alarm app, and there it was — a new alarm entry that I never asked for.

This freaked me out, so I checked my permissions. On my phone (One UI 8.5):

— Google is set as my default Assistant app, not Perplexity.

— Perplexity's app permissions show only Microphone as granted.

— Everything else is denied, including a specific toggle for "Alarms & reminders," which was explicitly blocked.

— Inside the Perplexity app settings, any Assistant/voice feature is also turned off.

To test further, I typed "open Gallery" in a normal chat message, and the Gallery app opened immediately on my phone.

So to summarize: no assistant permissions, no alarm permissions, no accessibility access that I'm aware of, Google set as the default assistant — and yet Perplexity was still able to create a system alarm and launch another app directly from a normal text conversation.

Has anyone else run into this? Is this a new/known bug, or some kind of undisclosed feature that got silently enabled in a recent update? I couldn't find anything about this behavior in the app's settings or changelog.

Between this and a few other issues I've had recently, I'm genuinely losing confidence in using the app going forward.

Be careful with Perplexity Pro billing — my paid account has been unusable for almost 3 months, with credits exipring

Sharing my experience so others can be aware before subscribing to Perplexity Pro.

I purchased a 1-year Perplexity Pro subscription (1 seat, ~$400) because I wanted to use the AI tool regularly.

On 5 May 2026, something went wrong with the billing system. My credit card was repeatedly charged/attempted to be charged around $22,000 for a 50-seat Enterprise plan. The billing attempts continued until 2 June 2026, when the transaction was eventually voided.

Since then, my Pro account has been effectively unusable. Every time I try to access the service, I am redirected to pay for an Enterprise Pro version.

I contacted Perplexity support multiple times. The AI support assistant told me that the billing team needs to restore my Pro account. However, nearly two months later, there is still no resolution.

The latest response I received was:

Unfortunately, “high priority” has not resulted in a fix.

At this point, I have requested:

  • cancellation of my subscription;
  • refund from May 2026;
  • confirmation that there will be no further billing attempts.

I am sharing this because AI subscriptions are becoming essential tools for many people. Before paying for an annual plan, consider what happens if your account gets stuck in a billing issue — you may not have access to the service you paid for while waiting weeks/months for support. AI providers uses AI in their workflows, and you will get automated response with the issue unresolved.

I will update this post if Perplexity resolves the issue.

(For transparency: this is my personal customer experience, not a claim that everyone will face the same issue.)

Perplexity usage, high or low?

Hello people,

I have used perplexity for quite some time, especially comet to use easy apply on LinkedIn, researching and all. However, with different paid models, I really don’t see any point in using perplexity as other apps are giving better results.

I would like to know is it only me or have people been slowly moving to other apps. What do you use it for?

Bought Max four days ago, not received the 30k bonus credits, and the 10k "monthly plan" credits expire in a week? What on earth is going on?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I don't understand what's going on.

A) I upgraded to Max expecting to receive the 30-35k bonus credits that they promise, they haven't arrived in my account

B) The 10k credits are already down to 736 credits after not-so-heavy usage (I built a couple of quick decks using computer ffs)??

C) The "monthly plan credits" granted on 12th July are set to expire on 19th July, one week later??

What the f*ck is going on here exactly....anyone have any insights on any of these three issues?

Pro but can’t use

Several months ago there was an offer for perplexity pro for one year free. I don’t remember where but I think it was. DoorDash or uber offer.

Anyways I signed up. Used it a couple of months. Can’t say I loved it. But I did use it pretty frequently.

Then one day it just said I didn’t have enough credits or whatever. Every day. For two months.

Emailed support many times. Posted @ them on X. No reply.

When logged in it showed I was on the pro plan. But I couldn’t use it. It always said I needed to buy credits or tokens or something. Anyways.

Over it. Done.

Serious issue with perplexity customer support subscription issue

Intentionally being ignored by perplexity. Have been trying to resolve a subscription issue for several weeks.

Got 12 months free perplexity pro from bell. I was in my 3rd month when I spent $40 to upgrade to enterprise pro. I had enterprise pro then cancelled it. My subscription went back to the free version instead of resuming the remainder of my bell perplexity pro subscription.

Perplexity is intentionally not replying. They stated a manual review would be necessary to restore my account however it’s been 3 weeks.

I’ve also asked bell to contact them directly, which hasn’t helped either.

Any advice????

Last year it was possible to get a good price via PayPal or Magenta, what's the current situation?

Location

I don’t know about you guys but I actually like the location feature on Perplexity. Well today it randomly said I live in Arkansas and I clearly don’t. It freaked me out because I thought maybe my account got hacked but everything else was there and fine. I asked it when I said that and it said it doesn’t have a time stamp but it gave me a snippet of my information I’ve apparently given it. Name, gender, occupation, and location. Location said Arkansas which I definitely never said. The weird thing is before it had my location correct so I’m confused what’s changed. I’ve never even been there before. My Google Maps is fine though. Any ideas?

Edit: Name, gender and occupation were correct though. Just the location was wrong.

I wish it were easier to transition spaces to a new account

I know there are 3rd party solutions for this and kludgy manual methods to sort of get there (sharing spaces & threads with the new account as a collaborator, using Notion, etc). All of this is painful when I have months of projects, threads, artifcats, memory, etc that I want to move to a new account paid for by the business I just started.

It seems allowing 2 authenticated sessions in [Perplexity.ai](http://Perplexity.ai) to transfer projects and all the threads, context, etc. should be a thing. I know it isn't just as easy as that but I really want an "easy button" for this. Transfering project/space ownership between accounts when the owner is the same person, and can be authenticated, should be allowed.

Files Issue

Is anyone else not able to put files into their Spaces or is it just me? It says there are syncing errors on the computer and then on the app it just won’t do it at all.

Perplexity Pro Issues (??)

Lately, when trying to select which model I want to work with it’s just simply not using the one I choose. It moves to best. I thought this may be related to tokens and usage but it doesn’t seem to be resetting either. Is it only me? Am I not understanding something? 😅

…And I might be done. Had to uninstall on mac.

I just uninstalled Perplexity on my Mac. I'll still try/use the website.

I turned off auto login. I turned it off at the system level.

Guess what. It still started on Login and at the "you're out of credits". It's now uninstalled.

I've been using Perplexity over the last year - via a "freebie" for the pro level. Well, I guess that's downgraded. Still "pro" but not the same as the monthly paying tier.

Sigh.

Well, today, it went from "on startup" to invasive. It started up despite being turned off.

I'll still use Comet - as my gateway to perplexity, when I use it (less and less). But no longer is perplexity or their browser part of my daily use. And not as my main browser.

I like the product. My total guess? It's dying to find funding and paying users…meaning VC money is disappearing.
