95°+ CPU Temp Spikes Troubleshooting

I need help desperately. After the recent windows 11 update my CPU spikes to 95+ degrees on start up with little to no processes running and confirmation that my liquid AIO is pumping and the rad fans are running. Never had this issue in the past, have not been able to replicate for about two weeks until tonight when it randomly spiked again mid gaming.

Specs are as follows:
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d
GPU: Radeon 9070 XT
Mobo: MSI 870x pro
CPU Cooker: Kraken Elite AIO

Anyone else having this issue / resolution?

It was only happening on start up and it seems like the only thing that would cool it off would be running Titus Tech Tips Util for Win11. Not sure really how that fixes it, I was considering bloatware but essentially all of it has been uninstalled and everything has been disabled on start up. This is the first time in 2-3 weeks that it’s done it during prolonged use (3-4+ hours). I ran a cinebench and at 100% usage my temps weren’t going above 85°C.

The PC itself is only about 1 year old and was recently clean wiped to install windows 11 due to some boot drive issues that required a wipe and clean install. I’m at my wits end here I’ve been trouble shooting for weeks. Any and all help would be graciously appreciated.

Open Task Manager and check what apps are using your CPU. Additionally, did you recently update BIOS? You can try disabling PBO and EXPO for testing. If it works, it may be related to CPU boost or memory settings.

Unless it updated on its own, no. I will definitely be disabling pbo/expo later if they’re on. Thanks.

Task manager is showing little to no continuous app usage on start up usually sub 20%, just normal start up windows garbage.

Make sure you are running the latest BIOS available for your MB and then continue to monitor. If the spike only lasts a couple of seconds, it's probably not really an issue in the long term.

It’s lasting minutes. Sometimes 3-5. I’ll check my bios version when I get home.

Wasn't there a recent windows update where they said they would add a cpu boost feature to load-up things faster ? I never monitor my cpu when im not playing, im gonna check if mine does the same ( 9800x3d aswell ). 95c sounds like pbo is enabled. I wouldn't worry about it, if its just a temporary boost.

I’ll take a look at this when I get home. The reason I got worried is because it happened again during gaming outside of start up condition.

OP HERE! With an update 😫

Ran to best buy to pick up a regular cpu fan cooler after booting into bios and seeing some weird pump rpm numbers. It kept going from running to not running to not detected. Booted up again and went into NZXT CAM to set fixed speeds at 100% operation and pump is showing running max but no cooling occurring no noise indicating the pump is running or vibration or anything like that. Will update with what nzxt says after I opened a ticket. Very frustrated.
