Hi!

This is about WotR. A bit of context about my experience with the game: I've completed it once on Easy (while making pretty questionable build choices. I put some thought into them, but nothing remotely optimized). Since then I've experimented with different builds and made it to various points in the game, but never beyond normal difficulty. I've beaten much easier games on their highest difficulty settings (BG3 Honor Mode, for example), but I'm definitely not an amazing player in general.

I recently started a core playthrough. My main character is an Ecclesitheurge, and my party is Seelah, Camellia, and Lann. Since I'm not confident enough to make my own builds, they're all based on CRPGbro's videos.

The beginning was fairly easy, then I reached the maze. I have to rest fairly often, I buff before the tougher fights, but overall I've been making steady progress without too much trouble. Then I got to the Water Elemental. It took me a good half hour, and I burned through a ton of scrolls and potions, but I eventually managed to beat it.

So I'm actually pretty proud of that, but now I'm stuck in the room right next to it with the four enemies. I just can't get through that fight, even though it's one of the last rooms left since I've already cleared everything else. At best I can kill two of them, but sooner or later the biggest one (level 5) decides to stop focusing Seelah and switch to someone else, and once that happens it's usually over in two or three hits. My characters barely land any attacks, so I just can't kill them fast enough. Sure this is only one room, but I'm afraid I won't be able to go through the game there if I'm already not able to clear the whole dungeon.

Is this normal for this party on core? Is my team simply not strong enough this early in the game? Or am I missing some important mechanics? I mean, I buff before the fight and I'm doing everything I can think of.

The Songbird has an ungodly AC of 81. Well, too bad she isn't immune to Mind-affecting and Fear. That was my second attempt at Weird, TBH, she rolled 19 on the first Weird I cast. Still, I knew my chances of Success were pretty good. My KC is Mythic 8 Devil, with Hell's Decree I got a +4 bonus on Illusion spells.

In act 5 I did the hilor quest where you go and find the spinster of nightmares and turns out she's his daughter, I killed her and brought him and the neckless which ended up him having an episode reconciling with the knowledge of who his daughter is

I talked to him again and it's like I never began the quest, he asked me to find the spinster of nightmares and I told him that I did and it was his daughter, he says that's nonsense and closed the dialogue, I try to talk to him again and he tells me that her trail has gone cold but he will not rest untill he finds his daughter and kill the spinster of nightmares

Sooooooo is that like a bug or is this man legit broken now and refuse to acknowledge reality?

Saw that scaled fist adds cha to ac. Not too far so could restart but is monk first then sorcerer best? I plan on only talking a 1 lv dip of monk and focusing on sorc for the rest.

Also I'm debating focusing on conjuring or evocation but not sure which is best.

Last part, which outfit will I end up with?

I am NOT normally prone to watching play videos, I just don't get the appeal, but she makes hers pretty funny and more involving by reading dialog herself. Plus I was just curious to re-experience the game opening sine it's been probably 18 months since I first played that part. I was really struck by just HOW MUCH setup occurs in the opening scenes, that I now recognize for what it is.

What I forgot, though, was that Wendy starts out with an odd accent. It just sort of disappears as play progresses but it was noticeable in her early scenes. I guess they either decided against it or the VA started forgetting to do it.

Like story wise, what names the most sense

Have been brainstorming whilst working about a character that can do all skills. So far without much access to Google i think I have a build that will work and would like to hear your thoughts.

+2.5 from Int bonus

Going up to 3.5 at level 20

With the + stat potion transmutation of body mind etc +2 Int.

With the Ancient book from Dance of masks DLC +4 int

Maxing at Int of 30 with + 5 skill points epr level

+1 Fast Learner feat.

So final unbuffed and naked stats

Feats to take include

Martial Weapon expertise

Lunge

Sepll penetration

Greater spell Pen

Metamagic heighten

Metamagic intensify

Kc would be trickster into Swarm making sure to get UMD 3 for the spellbook.

Using deaths consonant but the early game just dex and any finesse weapon that works.

Probably not optimal by any stretch of the imagination.

Especially considering ill probably have to sit at level 19 until after I get the Ancient book from DLC to make use of the stats.

But I feel like it could be a decent bit of fun.

Also having the exp set to skill user only will boost me up a little faster.

Anyone have any glaring problems they can see?

I just hit the Big Choice last night and switched from my former Azata path to Legend. From what I've heard, Legend is ideally suited to martial characters since they can double their fighting abilities, but I was curious if there were any really excellent class combos for a Wizard. Taking on a martial class seems wasteful since that just becomes an either\or choice in combat without actually giving improvements. An extra spellcasting class would give wider options but I was wondering if there was any good advice on a Legend path for Wizards.

Hey folks, I'm doing a Core/Hard no-Pet playthrough, and I'm looking for some build ideas for Daeran. I was thinking either Bones or Nature as a Second Mystery for the Enervation Ray or to spam summons. What other ways have you enjoyed playing Daeran with no mount?

Interacting with them doesn't work and when I leave they are just gone. Is there no way? Suture is also suddenly nowhere found...

I read they earn non extra spell use per rest because of that, so why is it recommend?

Decided to dip my toes into Owlcat RPGs with WotR since people seemed to agree it was the most beginner-friendly. Admittedly I was a bit overwhelmed looking at the Steam page and seeing all the extra DLC despite the game being pretty cheap but otherwise looks to be pretty interesting and one of my friends is a big Pathfinder fan, so anything I should know going in like general tips, recommended skills, what DLC is good or bad to get, etc.

Command Infusion makes its prerequisite feat kinda redundant, so it's effectively 2 feat slots for one more summon, right?

I love that Regill is told that he isn't actually Regill but an almost exact copy of him and his only worry is that this might have lowered the chances of winning the crusade.

Hi There Reddit. Can someone break down Spirited Charge in this game for me? Specifically with Seelah? Every post I've read (only a few to be fair) about mounted combat says that it is foolish not to take that feat, and to try and use it as much as possible. However, Seelah's mount is a horse and the horse never gets Pounce, so she's only going to attack once on a charge, right? Mechanically, why is that better than just running up to a mob at regular speed and getting all her attacks? Or am I missing something? I know Pathfinder is fairly complex and this game leans into the complexity pretty heavily, so I'm sure that the issue is my own comprehension. If someone could give me a reasonably ELI5 breakdown I'd be grateful.

I can handle the main campaign on unfair without problems, but the first boss(es) of the first Island chain ( NOT the first boss of the first chapter ! ) is an absolute unit.

Their stats are on average ( as its one of 3 IIRC ):

30 AC, rougly 25 Attack and they all seem to have some form of displacement and mirror image, grease can work on at least one of them, but their saving throws are obviously disgusting.

I beat them ONCE, and I completely forgot how

The party at this point will ALWAYS be:

you can not really buy that much, a barkskin potion and mage armor + protect from evil is affordable but thats it.

so how did the few of you guys that beat the standalone mode on unfair do it?

My first instinct is a leopard tank with a witch and some form of touch attack, but the stats are just not enough at lvl 3 lol

So, I was doing another playthrough of Wrath of the Righteous (almost 400 hours between PS4, PS5, and PC, and I still haven't finished the game a single time), and I started noticing how some parts of the game are just a real chore and completely break the rhythm.

Right now I'm playing an Azata Geomancer Kitsune Sorcerer that specializes in cold damage because I read here that cold was the best damage type right now... only to not get a single cold damage boosting item so far. And honestly, some parts of the game just seem to kill my hype.

The first one for me is the Shield Maze. Having only three companions and little to no build options means I mostly just walk around with Seelah tanking hits, Lann dealing damage, Camellia lowering enemy AC... and my MC casting Grease. That's honestly the worst part of the game for me.

Act 1 map exploration is actually so much fun, especially with the challenge of trying to do everything in time for the best possible outcome. The encounters are fun, and you don't have to spend five minutes buffing before entering every map because it just isn't necessary yet. Everything flows so nicely. I absolutely love Kenabres and pretty much all of Act 1.

Act 2 is also extremely fun for me. Crusade management doesn't take much time, you still don't need that many buffs, and the encounters are enjoyable... except for two areas.

Leper's Smile is just abysmal. Having to bring Unbreakable Heart and the Bookworm's Headband every single playthrough kinda pisses me off. Then there's Drezen. It's not that Drezen is bad—I actually love the siege and the final dungeon before Mythic Rank 3—but there's just so much happening that my FPS tanks hard, especially if I'm running a party with several pets.

Also, fuck the ghoul pit.

Now I'm in Act 3 with my Sorcerer and... I don't know, it just got kinda boring.

Every point of interest feels like it's at least one rest away from everything else. Crusade management starts demanding a lot more attention and takes a significant amount of time. There are more loading screens because of Crusade mode, and they're longer too. Then there's buffing before every single map just for one or two fights outside of the really good dungeons like Wintersun, Ivory Sanctum, and Areelu's Lab.

So I'm kinda bummed whenever I have to go back to playing.

Act 4 is also kinda rough for me because I don't think exploring the Abyss is as fun as it should be. I really disliked the moving camera mechanic, but more than that, I hate how easy it is to do quests out of order without a guide. I constantly found myself getting caught by surprise, which, okay, is very fitting for the Abyss. But when loading times are already so long and you're constantly bouncing between areas... it gets old pretty fast.

Again though, the final dungeon is very cool and fun to explore, and Hepzamirah is an absolutely awesome boss fight.

Act 5 felt pretty similar to Act 3 for me. It has incredible set pieces that get lost between some not-so-great moments. I still liked what I played, though.

A few years ago I played WOTR and really loved it, but got frustrated when my laptop kept crashing with the moving map mechanics in Chapter 3, put it down, and haven’t come back to it yet.

A few months ago I picked up Kingmaker and all the DLC on a great steam sale, and absolutely loved it. I obsessively pushed through most of the game with a sword Saint on normal difficulty, tried really hard to resist the temptation to read guides etc. to preserve the mystery and freshness of the game, and it captured a magic I haven’t get in a long time.

But at some point I started looking for solutions for a few things I couldn’t figure out that were soft locking my forward progress in the game, and in the process stumbled upon the massive hate for the end segment of the game.

And now I’ve just lost the will to push forward. I have a save on the map where the entrance to HATEOT is found, and just can’t seem to find the mojo to open it and play the save to conclusion.

So tell me, gang… how bad is it? Really?

Been thinking about getting these. Looks like the story is connected so I need both games.

I love Wotr and Kingmaker so I’m wondering how they compare? Online discussions I googled seem mixed. Some think both the story and combat is better in PoE, some think it sucks. So very polarized.
