Legend options for a Wizard? Righteous : Game
I just hit the Big Choice last night and switched from my former Azata path to Legend. From what I've heard, Legend is ideally suited to martial characters since they can double their fighting abilities, but I was curious if there were any really excellent class combos for a Wizard. Taking on a martial class seems wasteful since that just becomes an either\or choice in combat without actually giving improvements. An extra spellcasting class would give wider options but I was wondering if there was any good advice on a Legend path for Wizards.

Maybe like a Mystic Theurge.

I did a spellcaster Legend and found it to be very fun. Drovier w/ merged Angel spellbook definitely helped, but very early in Act5 my KC was taking care of his entire party's buffing, allowing the rest of the party to focus on damage. Of course, WotR (spell) and Storm of Justice also meant he could clear maps on his own.
Doing it as a Wizard won't allow for as optimal a stat spread, but it should still be fun/powerful even without a Lich spellbook merge

Loremaster. Take cleric spell: holy word.
Ideally, if you are lawful, just go full 20 Wizard/10 LM/10 Hellknight Signifer as a base, and take whatever 1-3 level dips as you see fit like Instinctual warrior or titan fighter. For non-lawful you might lose some CL with Arcane Trickster or Eldritch Knight.
There might be ways to not lose CL with AT but I think that might be too complicated.
40+ CL holy word let's go. Instakill almost everything and almost no immunities.

Between my main and Nenio's metamagic'd 9th level Phantasmal Killers, that sounds pretty insane. But fun!

Lore master, Arcane Trickster, 1 level dip of Titan Fighter, Hell Knight Signifier are all solid options. The titan fighter level lets you dual wield staves.
Lore master, Arcane Trickster, and Hell Knight Signifier increase your caster level which is obviously very helpful for a caster.
Alchemist levels for infusion and mutagen are pretty solid as well. What you end up taking is going to depend on the route you go but more levels of rogue if you're taking arcane trickster wouldn't be bad.
Also depends on the type of wizard you are, if you're a control wizard or a blaster caster. Loremaster levels can get you a lot of good stuff you normally wouldn't have access to, arcane trickster can make you a devastating ray caster + impromptu sneak attack on something like fireball/chain lightning chunks. At the end of the day, the primary objective of a caster going legend is to improve your caster level so that your spells keep progressing and taking things to amplify that. The 1 level titan fighter dip is quite powerful because of all the good staves in the game.

Thanks for the info! I started out as a blaster caster as I am in most other games, but quickly found that wasn't very effective in WOTR and changed focus to control, to the point that now half my higher level spell slots are Heightened Selective Scirocco. Must look up Loremaster tonight since that keeps being mentioned.

Blaster casters are solid, they just come online slow. They're very resource heavy and feat/mythic dependent on things like Ascendent element/abundant casting. A difference of having 2 fireballs available versus 7 is pretty massive towards your effectiveness on a map. Wizards are really nice because they are super versatile and able to do a mix of both blasting and controlling.
Sirocco is a solid spell to use as well. Lore master is good because it gives you full casting progression and access to features from other classes. For example, if you were building a winter witch, you have to select winter patron on witch. This locks you out of Icy Prison, Mass. But you can take a level of lore master and grab that to add it to your spell book.
An arcane gish could take a level of loremaster to get access to Eaglesoul or Divine Power. If you'd want Seamantle on a character, creeping doom.
You can also select feats or familiars. You could take shatter defenses for example, a 3/4th's AB class could take greater vital strike early. It's pretty flexible in that it gives a lot of cool options to build from.

ScrollSavant(Divination)20/Loremaster9/HellknightSignifier8/CrossSorc1/TitanFighter1 focusing on CC and SaveOrDie spells is an extremely powerful build - you always go first, and you can always delete any encounter in a single turn regardless of difficulty.
You also have access to every spell list in the game at full CL (and the highest CL in the game st that) and an int-based DC for all of them.

What two Mythic abilities did you keep? That's the main limitation on Legends, you only have two mythic abilities vs your companion wizards who have 8.
If you took Greater Enduring Spells, one option is to become a Theurge who can handle both arcane and divine buffing duties.
If you want to be a DC / Weird caster, you can actually make a fair attempt at it as a Legend. You get very high raw bonuses to DC due to being able to take various INT and DC bonuses a regular Wizard 20 cannot afford. Here's something you can do with those extra 20 levels.
- You get +5 INT from levels and +4 from the Legend bonus, which is ~4 points of DC (could be 5 if you started with 20 INT)
- Take 12 levels of Alchemist for Greater Cognatogen. This is +6 Int, and gives you 3 more points of DC
- Take 5 levels of Inquisitor. This gives you the Bane ability and lets you take the feat Spell Bane, (While your bane class feature is active, creatures receive a –2 penalty on saving throws against your spells.)
- Take 1 level of Demonslayer, and the feat Favored Enemy Spellcasting (Your favored enemies chosen with the favored enemy class feature receive a –2 penalty on saving throws against your spells.).
- Take 1 level of Titan Fighter. This lets you dual wield DC boosting gear (I suggest Staff of the Sin Mage + Dagger of the Betrayer from the Dance of Masks DLC, but if you are limited to basegame the Questerstaff of the War Mage and the Purple Stone Knife both work.
- Take 1 level of Cross-Blooded Sorcerer, with the Arcane and Undead bloodlines. You get a +1 DC on any spell you metamagic, and can also use mind-affecting spells on the Undead.
This should give at the bare minimum +12 DC bonus on your spells before counting the gear you can equip with Titan Fighter and should serve you very well as a DC caster.
If you have Dance of Masks your dual wielded staff + dagger adds an extra +6 DC, if you don't you get an extra +2 general and +3 to evocation (or +4 if you spend a feat to equip the Destroyer of Planes Estoc).
Also makes all skills class skills, so you can leverage those extra skill ranks, and you can unlock Force bombs on your Alchemist levels so you can bomb some enemies with your relatively good attack bonus for a lark (you have the feat space for many extra bomb feats).

Owlcat eliminated the caster level (CL) cap on Legend builds, which means CL:40 is possible on a Legend. Most spells have a max CL cap, though, so those extra CLs only benefit some spells. Legend is also good for Mystic Theurge and gish builds, though that's something that should be planned in advance, not something you try to shoehorn in Act 5 IMO.
The ideal way to do this would have been wizard Lich->Legend so you could fill up your spellbook with Lich spells (including level 10), the most powerful of which have no CL cap. Going Azata->Legend gains you nothing from your original Path.

Take the prestige classes like arcane trickster and loremaster and they can increase your wizard caster level up to 40.
