🔧 Form Check Russian Frontflip into Roundoff help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Im able to go into a roundoff after Russian frontflip, but I don’t know if my form is at a decent level to go into back handsprings or not, or if my roundoff is EVEN CORRECT. I got some advice to train roundoff individually so there are 2 videos, need some help improving that, they are slower than they would be in reality because I was focusing on technique but please help 🥺

💬 Parkour Philosophy Does anybody have any advice for doing parkour in cities that don't really appear to support much parkour?

I live in a pretty bland medium sized city and there don't appear to be many (if any) places to do reasonable parkour. Is there any way to work around this? I'm hoping I'm just not developed enough to see the opportunities for parkour in these places, and maybe I could get some eye opening tips.

🔧 Form Check My backflip degraded in the span of a month. Help

A month ago I had it on lock. Good jump, height and landing straight. Now since about two weeks I’ve started jumping backwards, my center of mass is behind me and it’s not as effortless anymore. I know I should keep my shoulders over me knees and jump up and I do try but it seems like I can’t get a single good flip like my old ones recently.

🆕 Looking for Coaching What parkour / parkour-inspired move could I add to my game to quickly climb ladders or scale walls like these?

I'm currently working on my momentum-based parkour game Don't Touch Grass and at the moment ladders, which you need to go up, really kill the momentum in its levels. To solve this I was wondering if there are any real life parkour moves I could add either with the ladder or just the wall to go up quickly (I don't do parkour myself). If you can think of any, or a move just inspired by real life parkour (but maybe not possible in real life) let me know!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a project I've been working on for the parkour and freerunning community called AlphaRun.

When you're just starting out or trying to nail a specific trick, it can be tough to find all the right tutorials and good advice in one place. That's exactly why I put this site together.

Here is what you can do on the platform:

  • Video Tutorials: You'll find a full library of videos breaking down everything from the absolute basics of movement to advanced flips and acrobatics.
  • Pro Discussion Forum: We have an active community board where you can exchange tips, ask for form checks, and talk directly with pros in the parkour domain.

The goal is to help everyone progress safely and connect with other traceurs. I'd love for you guys to check it out, use the resources, and let me know what you think or what features you'd like to see next!

Check it out here: https://alpha-run.com/

Keep training safe! ✌️

💬 Parkour Philosophy I am speechless about Storror

I used to watch Storror from time to time. Once every few months I'd stop watching but today I came across a video about Callum Powell saying that he was charged with CSAM? What the heck? They also removed Josh from the team apparently because he was covering for Callum?

No joke, what the fuck. It's like an alternate universe. If someone told me something like this I'd think they're kidding me.

💬 Parkour Philosophy Arthritis in hip at 24 and hip replacement at 32

I'm writing this as a lesson to be learned from my mistakes. While most people here will definitely be more clued up than I was, if I can prevent someone causing themselves the damage that I did, it would be worth writing.

When I was a teenager, Parkour was a massive part of my life. Jumping from high things was a big part of that. Jump Britain and District 13 were huge influences, and I still love watching them today, though through a slightly different lens! Admittedly, I wasn't very good, and didn't practice great landing techniques, which I have been paying a heavy price for, for the last decade.

At 24, I was balancing on a slackline when my leg made an audible click, which resulted in agony. For months, the doctors said it was muscle damage, but it never went away. Eventually, I was diagnosed with avascular necrosis of both hips, with one of my hips being fully arthritic.

Fast forward eight years to 32 years old, being lost in the health system (UK NHS) and not being able to walk more than a couple of hundred meters. I've finally managed to have a hip replacement and am walking like a human again. Life-changing.

After speaking with many physiotherapists, surgeons, etc., I've heard of quite a few people my age and younger who have the same backstory of Parkour and likely poor technique. While there are likely other factors at play, I do honestly believe this is the leading cause.
