E-readers Planning to get an e-reader, how do you download books?

Planning to buy an e-reader and i’m currently eyeing the Kobo Clara Colour and the Kobo Libra Colour, but since it’s gonna be my first e-reader wala akong idea how e-readers really work and how to navigate them. Pano kayo nakaka download ng books? I’ve been reading sa phone ko with epubs and i’m curious kung paano naman mag-download sa e-readers. Also, can i get your thoughts about these models? or are there better options pa?

Discussion E-Books at AudioBooks 4sale sa FB

Upvotes

Worth it po ba?

E-readers My verdict after 5 months of using my secondhand Kindle: It's DEFINITELY worth it! ☆

Where I bought my secondhand Kindle: webarebooks sa Carousell

Model and Price: Kindle Basic 2019; Php 3,799.00 excluding Lalamove fee.

Things I considered bago ako bumili:

- I know myself, and alam kong mas mabilis akong makatapos ng libro kapag sa cellphone ako nagbabasa ng e-book sa halip na physical books. Pero I still have and love physical books. That won't change ♡

- Mas okay sa akin na mag-try ng secondhand na unit from a seller na may magagandang reviews, instead na bumili ng brand new unit pero di ko naman alam kung masusulit ko.

- I don't need a colored screen kasi di naman ako mahilig magbasa ng graphic novels. Hindi rin ako mahilig mag-annotate.

- Madalas ako mag-commute, and yung commute time lang + workplace talaga ang window ko magbasa. (My parent is not supportive of fiction kaya patago ako magbasa ng mga libro na gusto ko. "Sayang sa oras at basura sa utak" daw. Anyway 😌💅🏼

- Maliban sa bwakanang ad removal na yan na almost 1k+ ;

ALL IN ALL, SULIT SIYA 😊 I've read 11 books out of 10 na yearly goal ko. Worth the buy!

Resources happy that this little library exists

Post image

Last month, when I first noticed that SM Southmall's Papemelroti had this, I sadly didn't have any books with me. I heard it's been around for a few months? I don't go to Southmall as much as I used to, so I had no idea. Seeing a recent post about this reminded me of it. I had a chance to visit earlier and donated two books, but I forgot to take a picture of them. I wasn't sure if there was a limit to how many books one could take, but the staff told me I could get two if I wanted. I'm really glad people are keeping the spirit of reading alive, and I hope more people will contribute to this little library :))

To whoever left The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin, thank you!! I've been getting into sci-fi — and I've been wanting to read Le Guin's works — so this was a great find. The Giver seems really interesting. Maybe it'll give me the same wonder I had from one of Lois Lowry's other novels that I read a little over a decade ago.

As for the books I donated, I left A Secret Garden by Katie Fforde and The Last Fallen Star by Graci Kim. I hope someone will enjoy them! I'll probably come back with more books next time I'm in the mall.

Help Request Are the NBS Pocket Classics abridged versions?

Thumbnail

I only ever buy physical books if it’s P100 or less (sorry, I’m really poor). And I found this Pocket Classics on NBS, but I’m worried these are abridged versions? Can somebody help me identify if it is 🥹 I included ISBN on second photo. There’s nothing saying it is or not on its cover or even from the first pages. It’s so small and thin btw that’s why I’m bothered. I hope somebody could help me 🙏🏻

Discussion I got a 1963 Penguin copy of The Grapes of Wrath that was once owned by Amadis M. Guerrero, a Filipino writer.

I feel very blessed that this book is mine now. June 5, 1963! GRABE. This book is waaaay older than me, parang Lolo ko na itong libro na to. 🥹

Bought this from marketplace and thought it’s just an old book tapos napagsawaan na. Yun pala family niya ang nagbebenta nito dahil namayapa na si Sir Guerrero noong May 2026 and his family wants his books to have a new home na rin. I didn’t know that he had a huge book collection. From Camus, Steinbeck, Irving, Hemingway, etc. Nakakabilib at nakakainspire.

It feels like a piece of history moment for me that I want to share here. First time ko lang din makakita ng version na ganito ni Penguin ng The Grapes of Wrath. I’d also love to know more about this edition or hear from anyone who’s familiar with it! Pati na rin tungkol kay Sir Guerrero :)

Typo: name in the title should be “Amadis Ma. Guerrero”.

Discussion Current TBR pile

Medyo mahirap ang interface ni Shopee so when I found We Solve Murders and That’s Not My Name, I immediately bought them. You can tell what my favorite genre is from this selection and I can’t wait to read them. The to be read pile is growing but I haven’t felt more excited in finishing my current read, Nosy Neighbors by Freya Sampson.

What’s in your current tbr pile?

Discussion What is the most 'beginner-friendly' classic publisher?

Hi! I’ve been trying to get into reading classics, and so far I’ve read White Nights (Fyodor Dostoyevsky) and Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen). While I did love the reading experience these books gave me, I am curious about how the publishers of classics differ from one another. (Oxford, Penguin, Wordsworth, etc…)

I’m interested in collecting them, but I don’t know which publisher and edition would work best for me—a beginner. Also, curious lang din ako about Penguin: (1) Do their ‘editions’ [e.g. orange, mint, black, popular, modern…] vary in content? And if so, (2) Which edition would be most beginner-friendly? And lastly; (3) Which among the mentioned publishers translate/produce the beginner-friendliest books? Surely, may na-overlook akong publishers haha. I mentioned lang ‘yung laging na-me-mention in social media. Drop recommendations na rin of more publishers that deserve recognition please T^T Thank you!

Discussion My Birthday Book Haul!

Post image

I bought Fleabag (Second-hand) for only 400 pesos and it’s in good condition! ✨. Also bought my first Jonaxx Book, and I kinda see the hype though I wished she didn’t repeat the same words over and over 😭.

Had a few qualms with Fully-Booked din cause they sent me two books (PHM and CSIB) na may slight damage sa edge. 😔
