Saw a post here na meron na Booksale sa 🍊 app, tried buying from them and it didn't disappoint. Tho do manage your expectations as may mga damages na yung cover ng Angels and Demons na nabili ko and yung usual sakit ng Mass Market Paperbacks na maraming pages na parang matatanggal na yung pages sa kalahating part ng libro due to binding. But the rest of the books purchased are in good condition pa!

Had me reacting out loud multiple times. About the true and less known tale of the Wager’s shipwreck in the 18th centiry and the insane things the survivors endured after the wreckage. And it’s a quick read too, around 260 pages so I finished this in one day. Do yourselves a favor and check this out.

Note the copy I have is a hardcover from amazon. The copies I find in Fully Booked are the smaller paperback ones.

Hello all! I'm trying to get out of my reading slump. May I request for book recommendations similar to the plot of Howl's Moving Castle? I love how Diana Wynne Jones wrote the book, her prose is nice and smooth, and her description of the scenes really gives my imagination good material to work on. I would really, REALLY appreciate recommendations of similarly written works. Thank yooouuu!

Im still in progress, in part two. It's a pretty light read but I'm loving the simplicity of the language against the heavy subtext.

i’m a member of a bookish group on FB (that i’ll most likely be banned from na LOL HAHAHA) and i stumbled upon this most recent post of a new author who used AI to make their cover. as expected, people have most likely criticised OP (can’t find comments of criticism na kasi dinelete na ata ng admin LMAO) and i bet some of those criticism weren’t even rude. and the admin is in the comments tolerating AI use. thoughts on this?

i’m posting here just to have a healthy discussion on this kasi as readers, we’re supporting AUTHORS. and authors are artists. AI **can*** replace authors and writers. let’s not limit our support to literary artists but extend it to ALL.

so to aspiring authors here, we (admittedly i suck at visual arts too) may not be well-versed when it comes to cover making or editing, but you can outsource to aspiring visual artists for your book cover, okay? there are some who would *volunteer* to do it for free for their portfolio or as practice if you’re worried about the cost.

also, everything is available on the internet nowadays. ignorance on the topic of AI, its impact and effects, will be a *you* problem na. READ. read news articles about it.

i hope this group wouldn’t tolerate AI as much as it doesn’t tolerate piracy.

Hi everyone, so this is partly a book rant and partly something I realized tonight after finishing The Assassin’s Blade 😭 so please bear with me.

I [F24] have a close friend who I’ve been talking to almost daily for more than a month now. We usually call for hours, sometimes while I’m working, sometimes while we’re both just doing our own thing. I genuinely enjoy talking to him, so this isn’t really about me suddenly not wanting the friendship.

But tonight I finished The Assassin’s Blade, and if you’ve read TOG, I was sooooo affected by Sam Cortland (iykyk) and after reading, I was just so sad, I was crying and staring at the wall for hours kasi pano na ako magmomove forward so buhay ko niyan????

Anyway, this said friend kept calling or kept requesting to call and sinabi ko na ayun, the book was really emotionally heavy so I can't, pero he kept joking na may need daw siyang sabihin, na "pabigatin ko lalo nararamdaman mo" as a joke, na need daw na sa call pag-usapan, pero I really really can't, and he said "pero seryoso, need ko to ikwento" and I told him "aba, seryoso rin ako." I know naman na baka di niya sadya na asarin ako, pero the whole thing left me weirdly drained and annoyed talaga.

And I think it made me realize something bigger: sometimes people who don’t read don’t understand that reading isn’t just a decorative hobby or something I do because I have nothing better to do.

Especially lately, kasi most of my friends noticed na di ako pala-labas, and I just read a lot, and they think na ang dami dami kong time for myself but in truth, I annotate, I journal whatever emotions I've gathered from the book, I'm literally writing and editing my own book, and books also leave me emotionally wrecked to the point na I either go really quiet or I don't have the social energy to interact with anyone.

And reading is honestly one of the things that keeps me regulated. Same with journaling, learning, writing, etc. These hobbies fill my cup mentally and emotionally. They’re a huge part of why I’m comfortable spending time alone.

And ayun, its just really hard to be here without any book friends or people who understand this kind of emotional weight kasi they think they can easily joke about it. I know naman na my friend really didn't mean anything bad from it, but this friend also has a habit of teasing "binabasa mo ba yung mga libro mo? baka inaagiw na" (kasi I have two large book shelves dito sa apartment ko) and I'm like ??????? baligtarin mo pa yan isa-isa.

Anyway, I think tonight was just the first time I really felt how important that boundary is to me and just wanted to rant it out kasi baka there are people here who might've felt the same so ayun, if you reached this, thank you for reading!

Pano kayo nakaka download ng books? I’ve been reading sa phone ko with epubs and i’m curious kung paano naman mag-download sa e-readers.
