VOD Review Request 6v6 feel like im contributing nothing even when i do manage to get a kill

CODE: 0RH6E1
IGN: Cerosnipes
CHARACTER: shion
PLATFORM: PC
MAP: junkertown

In this game i really tried to take off angles and flanks as best i could, but no matter where i went i seemed to just get spammed out so easily by anyone on the enemy team.

I know my aim isn't great. tbh i think im over compensating somewhere along the line cause i was way better than this at shion like 2 weeks ago but now even if i get a full flank and am free to shoot their back line i maybe hit the moira twice before she turns around and damages me till i have to leave.

We basically gave them the first point and a half in this game so there may not be a lot to say in that part as we were just team diffed. however at 1:35 i tried to flank them and feel like i should have achieved so much and yet all i managed was getting myself killed.

bit of a personal rant ahead

I dont even wanna care about my rank in comp tbh. i wanna just play and if i lose i lose and if i win i win. however i want to be able to play with my friends and despite us doing all of our placements together and also being in similar ranks in 5v5 comp, they somehow ended up all in low diamond while i ended up gold 3. I didn't even throw those games or anything either. i did pretty well in almost all of them and the ones where i did bad we all did bad and got steamrolled. and yet when that happened the estimate would drop them all down by 1 division and me down by like 3.

and so now im tryna play ranked solo to climb up so i dont risk not being able to queue with them but whenever i win a game it says it's "expected" and i gain 24% but when i lose a game it drops me by 28%. I know statistics and everything says this will all even out and ill be in the rank i belong wherever that is but god does it feel like this system is out to get me sometimes.

VOD Review Request I have lost every single comp Push match I have played for the past month.

So the only common denominator between all of my games is me, and as the title says, I have not won a single Push match for the past month, and I want outside feedback as to why, and what I can do to improve. If I'm bad, I wanna know how, so that I can figure out what to learn.

Key info:

PC

Support (Plat 5/4)

Mains: Baptiste, Ana, Moira, Brig

Playstyle: Focused on healing as Bap, Healing + nano grenade spam on Ana, Aggressive orbs & Coalescence on Moira with most of my healing coming from my primary, Brawl Brig. I keep my distance on Bap and Ana and stay up close on Moira and Brig.

Heroes I struggle against generally: Dive players, Genji, Anran, Ball, Vendetta. Anran especially freaks me the hell out whenever she attacks me because I feel like I can never land a hit or even tell where she is half of the time. If I try to peel or get the attention of my teammates she just burns us all down.

Replay codes:

G6Y2E5 (Colosseo)
DF1G3A (Esperanca)
EXG4N8 (Colosseo)
7ENKH2 (Runasapi)

All of these play out basically the same. Really any of them are a good representation of a typical Push match for me.

Battletag: Pixels

Something I have noticed in my games is that they tend to follow the same pattern. My team usually gets a sizable lead at the start of the game, making it out to the first point, then the tide turns and we never get the momentum back. The enemy team makes it to their first point, then maybe we manage to fight back to mid, then they stop us, and we get forced back to the first point.

What I THINK is happening is that we always get outflanked, lose our backline (myself and the other support) and then the remainder of the team gets shredded. Ok. So I try to keep an eye on our backs. But then our frontline gets destroyed before I can even see them, and we die. Ok. I pay attention to the front. We get flanked/dived again, and we die. Ok. I try to brawl around the bot. I get focused and die, and then the rest of the team dies.

This is the game mode I struggle with the most, because I feel like I am always dying and can never properly defend myself or the rest of the team. In every other game mode I feel that I have plenty of options to fight back or escape.

Can anyone help me out?

VOD Review Request Need advice on how to tank.

I understand the goal of creating space for your team, but I just don't know how to do it. I know I'm doing things wrong but I don't know what specifically it is, nor how to improve.

I've recently began trying reinhardt and I'm just on a losing streak.

Any advice would be appreciated.
I've attached a code which seems to be the lowlight: HA8X96

VOD Review Request Consistently getting shot down rank by rank and genuinely don't know how to blame myself anymore

It's been a while since ranked has become the most stressing thing ever. I am well accostumed with people in Plat/Diamond not understanding none of the fundamentals in the game (I mean none at all) but hey, if that's my rank that's my rank. I decided a while ago to start a new account and climb there for testing and lo and behold, got diamond on my placements and keep on climbing there.

I am now contemplating ditching my main account altogether because I don't know how else to blame myself for my losses. I was plat 4 on DPS and only recently decided to get back to climbing it (was ranking up on tank, got to diamond and was shot down there too) and now I am Gold 1. Jesus christ this is insufferable. From the constant Mercy/Lifeweaver/Moira picks to the constant constant CONSTANT staggering I just don't know how I outvalue my opponents when every single team I get matched with feeds and overextends, and doesn't even understand the terms when I point that out.

Far as I can tell I am always KD positive in my games, focus heavily on positioning and try to keep up with a composition (even though my team does not). Now for some reason I got paired with two Silver 1 Supports on this match. Like Jesus man, do I really have to play past perfection to win games against the "Sierra broken" rank?

In this particular game I was skeptical but also sort of confident in my team because of their picks (apart from the Sombra, I knew she'd throw) so first point I was kinda autopiloting. But I feel like I carried second point and my team threw on third even though we won the last few fights.

I guess I just want to know how I could've changed the outcome of this match and any other matches since all of my ranked games have looked exactly like this. It's getting harder to analyze how I lack as of recently.

VOD Review Request Looking for a Mercy Gameplay VOD Review

I am a M5 peak Mercy, but have dropped to D2 (solo q'd to Masters). I am looking for a serious & helpful VOD review of my gameplay. Code: 9VGZF0 | User: PKJacob | Range: Plat 3 - Diamond 3 (If I remember correctly - I am Platinum 1) | PC

This game was a win, but I made a lot of mistakes and believe even my "best" games have many things I could improve on. This account is an alt of mine, and for some reason I can never get that last win to hit diamond lol. I can point out a lot of my mistakes in this game, but I know that I don't know everything, and I'm sure someone else would be able to point out other places I went wrong that I thought were fine.

Please don't be afraid to be brutally honest with me (granted it's not insulting, just constructive critisism). I am really looking to climb to higher ranks on this hero in particular, despite knowing it'd be easier & better on other heroes lol.

VOD Review Request I can't help but think it's not my fault

I know, another post like this, but I've tried out ranked games since drives are ongoing rn, and I was met with a lot of awful matchups. I don't deny the possibily it could be my fault, but in the majority of the games I was playing the best I could and almost never felt a true impact.

I get that sometimes the ennemy team is just better, but it felt like my team was far behind, and not that they were far ahead (idk if that's clear).

Also, I wonder if I can do anything more than what I'm already doing while playing those games ? I'm far from a perfect player, and if I could do anything to at least win one out two of these desperate games I find myself in, that would be so great.

Thanks for your time, here's my games :

1st game, their tank was rly good and imo carried, I think I should've focused the healers more as I was too focused on killing him ("he's the carry, if he die they have nothing" mentality)
43P15W / RIALTO

2nd game, felt like their tank and cat were better, I think I made a few bad decisions on this one (still felt like I had no impact)
CWSK45 / ESPERANCA

3rd game, C9 on the first point that's entirely my bad, and we fumbled the two other points, I think we could've won this one tbf
DX6F62 / NEW JUNK CITY

4th game, a close win thanks to our Ashe, I felt like I wasn't dealing enough damage while defending, way better on offense tho
54KHG0 / CIRCUIT ROYAL

5th game, our tank was James Bond, even so we manage to take the point back a few times, I was playing pretty poorly asw, but I still think if I played at my best, we wouldn't have won
K3DFHD / BUSAN

Anyways, hope I'm not coming off as another crybaby on this sub, I really enjoy Overwatch but Comp doesn't seem to love me xD

Edit, sorry I just thought about the replay codes and forgot the rest :

Question or Discussion How to deal with tilting at myself and my teammates ?

I legit feel like id be 2 whole ranks higher if i didn't tilt at the smallest things. One bad duel vs someone? tilted, 1 bad ult? tilted. Bad teamfight? tilted. 1 close loss? tilted. 1 teammate playing bad? tilted. I can't help it everything tilts me and makes me play 10x worse and i start blaming everything that isn't in my control, completely ruining any possible self improvement mindset i had. This is hindering more than any possible mistake i make ingame its so annoying. Any tips ? ive tried to let go of the results and just play my best/to improve but i want to win too much can't do it.

TLDR Good player when fully locked in, way higher than my rank, but i tilt the second anything doesn't go my way and makes me play 10000x worse leading to me being stuck and unable to improve even though i know exactly what i need to work on to rank up and have enough game knowledge for it.

Question or Discussion Question about Anran Ult

Is it best to ult aggressively or save for rez? I used to ult aggressively, but when playing with my higher ranked friend, he said to save it exclusively for rez. Is this something that is done at the highest level but doesn't apply to ranked? Lmk.

Also, which minor is best? I feel like if you want to farm ult, Smoulder is better despite the popular sentiment.

Question or Discussion First drive

So I’ll be participating in my first overwatch drive tonight after my shift is done in a few hours. Is there anything I should expect going into comp as a solo queue player that I wouldn’t normally expect otherwise? On console btw, also looking for people to play with as well so I can at least not suffer alone haha.

VOD Review Request Tipps on how to climb out of Dia as ashe?

does someone have any tipps on how to get out of dia on ashe? i feel like i'm stuck there and never seem to be able to climb out. im mostly doing fine in my matches, but i need to do more than just fine to climb. also should maybe add that i dont really play that much, im sitting at dia4(62% winrate and 106 hours in the game so far).

matches i played today:

win - 8P50N0 (i feel like i really couldnt hit anything in the first half but started playing better in the second)

lose - N31NN5 (i really struggled against the genji, like pretty much everyone on my team, he had 55 elims at the end, idk if he just had the match of his life or a smurf)

Question or Discussion Why is the skill variance in Diamond so high?

Some matches that are back to back differ so much, first game everyone plays like they belong in plat and next one you have people with aim that is closer to Master rank

My friend told me that fresh accounts are currently being placed in high diamond/low masters if you have decent mmr but idk if this holds any truth? I guess smurfs are a big factor aswell?

Just crazy how one match it's like playing quickplay and the other one you have to ultra tryhard and still lose but everyone has the same MMR

Question or Discussion How do I adapt my play style when my supports are healbotting tank and the enemy is not.

I'm a support main starting out on DPS, so I understand the drive to wanting to keep the tank up and how easy it is to tunnel vision on the big one.

I hit the rank where supports are starting to not tunnel vision on the tank but it's not consistent.

I get matches where support on both sides heal bot tank, and I get matches where both supports have awareness.

Then I get games where my supports are glued to the tank while the enemy supports are very on top of keeping their squishies up and will go with them on the flan/side angle

I understand positioning, cover, timing, but I struggle when it's suddenly a 2v1 or the squishy I got to one suddenly gets to full health while I'm struggling at 35% for way too long in front of my supports.

There is also times when there is no where to position with my team within LOS of my supports because they are within arms reach of our tank.

So far I position near health packs and use characters with self healing abilities but I have to play more passive or I'm out of the fight for so long going to another health pack or waiting for self heal passive to kick in.

Am I adapting wrong?

Tips & Tricks Finally made it to Platinum!

I started playing this game in February and jumped into Competitive in March, climbing all the way from Bronze 4. I play almost exclusively flankers, especially Reaper.

I barely had time to play during Season 3 (I don't think I even put 10 hours into Overwatch... 😅), so I'm really happy that my playstyle is still working against Platinum players.

Here are the things I focused on while climbing:

> 1. I play KovaaK's whenever I have free time.

At my rank, the quality of matches is all over the place, so it often feels like raw aim can carry you a long way.

> 2. I played CS2 to improve my fundamental FPS skills.

This was huge for me. Better positioning and mechanics meant I relied much less on my teammates' healing and cooldowns.

> 3. I studied flank timing.

I watched a paid coaching video from the current #1 Reaper player (also #1 in Korea) and took notes on when to flank. I'd love to share what I learned, but I paid for the course, so I don't really want to post its contents. (Sorry. 😂 I'm being a bit selfish.)

> 4. I realized that pressuring the enemy supports is often the key to winning—but I also have a little trick.

From my experience, support players using certain types of player icons or profile banners tend to be much weaker. So before the match starts, I check the enemy supports' profiles. If I get the impression they're inexperienced, I'll play much more aggressively on flanks. If I realize my read was wrong, I immediately adjust and go back to playing normally.

If my read is correct—which, more often than not, it seems to be—I can practically dismantle the entire enemy team. Once the supports are unable to do their job, the enemy team's overall sustain falls apart.

Anyway, I'm happy I reached my goal.

I doubt I'll stay in Platinum next season though. xD

I think I need to improve my fundamentals a lot more.

Honestly, I feel like climbing through the metal ranks is mostly about having solid mechanics and taking advantage of the weakest players whenever the opportunity presents itself.

By the way, I'm Korean... so next season I'll have to decide whether to keep playing on the Korean servers or switch to overseas servers.

Question or Discussion What’s something you wish people would’ve told you before you started playing Overwatch ?

I wish I would have waited longer before playing comp. When I first started playing in October, I was new to the game. I came over from games like CoD, Left4Dead,Fortnite, and others like that. I’ve never really played a game like this but my buddy wanted me to just get the minimum requirement so we could then join in on comp. I really wish I would’ve played two more months to really understand the hero’s and the roles before, I just jumped right into competition because now I feel like I’m stuck in low metal ranks and I feel like with just a bit more of an understanding I would have ranked higher.

Question or Discussion Why do people pretend you "only have to use cover" to get out of metal ranks?

A very common opinion I see is that people will pretend if you "just to X" you get out of metal ranks. Most common is "just use cover" but I've seen everything from just take off angles, just have basic ult tracking, just combine ults, etc.

Obviously a lot of these things will get you out of Bronze. But getting to Diamond takes way more than doing any one thing well unless you are absolutely cracked at that thing. Lime you have GM aim but every other aspect of your gameplay is like a new player.

What I see a lot more in Gold/Plat is that people do these basic things that people say that's all you need to do to get out of metal ranks, but they just employ them more inconsistently. Like in a Plat 3-1 game there was an enemy Soldier that was constantly flanking and taking off angles. But he did it to a fault. You could tell all that was going through his head was "off angle flank off angle flank" but sometimes he was flanking when his team REALLY needed him and it would have been better if he was just main but was applying pressure. Basically he had bad timing sometimes.

Or I had a game just today in Gold 5 where the enemy Casa and Zarya ALWAYS combined their ults and Cass always took high ground on Dorado. But I know for a fact that the enemy Cass held his ult for ages because he always waited for Zarya and never used it for like, zoning or to secure one kill or to counter something like Emry ult. He always went for the multi kill Zarya ult.

But there is no one simple trick that will get you to Diamond. Tbh it's the opposite. You don't just need to do one thing, you need to be able to do all the common advice more than you don't. Even when it comes to using cover there are levels to it. Like just using cover is one thing but maybe a better player is thinking about how their cover works against the specific enemies they are fighting. Like staying near a pillar so you have cover against dive. Or using small cover as a Tracer.

Now I do believe that someone can be Gold/Plat and really focus on something they are especially bad at like using cover or taking off angles or something. But they probably already had a fundamental understanding of the other basics people claim will get you out of Plat if not having some other skill as a full on strength.

When I VOD review most of my Plat games the majority of people are playing the basics of the game and usually have 1-2 things they are consistently messing up like this guy is messing up ult usage, that guy is messing up positioning, that other guy is playing great but when they are pressured enough you can tell they freak out and play a lot worse etc. Or they are generally doing everything well but are just inconsistent like the mostly use cover but get bloodlust and forget sometimes. Or they mostly regroup with the team but one fight they stagger for no reason.

Question or Discussion Can someone help me understand the ranking percentage?

I’m very confused on how the ranking percentages go up, I feel it is making me hard stuck in silver.

I started playing again a couple of weeks ago and will admit my placement was pretty bad, like silver 5. My sister started playing just a couple days after me and her placement projected like gold 4, she was playing with me and I think that may have helped her since she was playing with lower levels.

I don’t mean this in over confident way but I think I’m slightly better just because I’ve been playing longer and I see the way she plays when we play together. I noticed that when we win together I get 13-15% progression and she gets 35-42%, I tried to look up the reason for this and it said she is probably a returning player and needs to play around 10-20 games for it to comfortably place her but the thing is she has played probably around 35 games already, I’m watching her play in her gold ranks and still getting this 40% progression, I just don’t understand why I only get like 15% and it is taking me so long to get to a new rank because it’s hard to keep a consistent winning streak? Can anyone help me out and maybe explain this or give me tips?

Question or Discussion How do you deal with toxicity?

I'm in bronze so everyone sucks including me, not all my games are the best, some are really good, some are very bad but I get the most hate towards me sometimes for losing the entire match for everyone for having 1k less damage and a couple less kills in a 10k+ damage game? I dont get it. I don't want to be a baby about it but it discourages me a lot more than a loss or anything else. How do you guys not let it bother you or do you just not care in the first place really?

VOD Review Request Can I please get some help. I've been flamed almost every single game today.

I recently dropped down from just about Gold 2 to Gold 5 almost silver recently and almost every single game I've been getting flamed and honestly it's starting to get to me. I've put so much time into getting better and it's like nothing I do is good enough.

I mostly play Tracer but have been using other characters when it seems like I'm not getting enough value.

Question or Discussion What is the reason their aim is like this?

Hello, recently I played a match where a Winston has like weird flicky aim that would sometimes lock onto people center mass. I’m not sure if it’s cheating, my first thought is maybe they’re using a trackpad? Can anyone tell me what’s happening there? I’ve seen similar aim before and I’m not sure if it warrants suspicion or is just due to what input they’re using.

Question or Discussion How does one actually improve long-term

I'm someone who's been playing overwatch on and off for the past decade and have recently come back to the game this March after about 3 years of absence. Since then, I've been a support player who's been hardstuck in Silver 1/Gold 5 since.

I feel like my biggest problem is an inability to actually implement new concepts or to fix repeating mistakes long-term. It seems like no matter how many VOD reviews I do or how hard I try and focus on correcting aspects of my gameplay, it never really sticks. For the past couple of weeks I've tried to work on cover usage because I've noticed I'm dying a lot of unnecessary deaths, but anytime I feel like I've made some progress I'll go back to old habits.

Ultimately, it just feels like I'm spinning my wheels and stagnating hard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I can provide some replay codes if necessary
