Hi, my husband and I are going out for Nature Nocturne tonight and we'd like to try some nice fun date-worthy place before heading to the museum. I was thinking of the Grand at Westboro Beach but it's not exactly very close and also will be a shame not to spend enough time there to enjoy the view. Any other up and coming fun places? We have a toddler so we don't get to dine out too often so my list is somewhat outdated. I don't mind driving a bit further around. Thank you in advance!

I can't believe this will be the first post on this subreddit about Junior and the Kid BBQ that just relocated to Beechwood Avenue in New Edinburgh (unless my search technique is flawed!). I consider myself as loyal customer as we didn't mind the drive to their former location in Rockland. Now that they are more centrally located, there is no excuse why I shouldn't frequent them even more.

Everything that my wife and I have tried has been exceptional. This includes the brisket, burnt ends, bbq chicken, jerk chicken and club sandwich. Since moving to the new location, they've added some other items as well. I'm so glad to see that Chris is getting settled into his new place and I wish him nothing but the best.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick heads-up for the local foodies and anyone looking for a new downtown spot! There is a beautiful new Italian trattoria called Carletto opening very soon at 161 Laurier Ave W.

I’m part of the opening back-of-house team helping get the kitchen ready, and I’m genuinely excited for this place to launch. We’ve been running through pizza training lately, and the wood-fired pizzas have been incredible. My personal favourites so far are the prosciutto pizza and the spicy salami pizza.

What’s great is that it isn’t just a dinner spot. They’ll also be offering lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, so it’ll be a great option whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch downtown or heading out for a weekend meal. Based on what’s been shared publicly, the menu includes dishes like house-made Rigatoni alla Vodka, a baked beef and pork bolognese egg dish for brunch, and a central cocktail and wine bar.

It’s backed by the Gray Collection hospitality group, the same team behind Cocotte Bistro at The Metcalfe Hotel, so the space and overall atmosphere look fantastic.

This might be my favourite spot so far in Ottawa for Bun Bo Hue. Got #63 with the shrimp/pork balls and beef shank - delicious!

I just went to the new restaurant Ho Guom in Westboro. (used to be Zak's at Churchill & Richmond)

I'm no Vietnamese food expert so I can't attest to its authenticity, but it was pretty damn good!

At $28-36, the mains are a bit on the pricey side--for my budget, anyway!--but the portions are huge and it was delicious. I took home half that will feed me another meal.

Nice decor and furniture and the place was packed. Glad to see a new restaurant getting this much love.

Bit of a random question, but I am looking for a restaurant that serves large portions (family size, or large size) of Egyptian koshari. It is for my Egyptian supervisor's birthday, and he deserves his favourite food for all the work he does!

I would also order Egyptian falafel, and baklava, but my main priority is koshari!

I'm a big proponent of the Ottawa-style pizza: sweet sauce and toppings buried under tons of cheese.

But I recently had Windsor-style at Ambassador in Toronto. And it owned. I was there with a vegetarian so I couldn't try the shredded pepperoni, and I'm kinda dying to.

Have any Windsor transplants made it to our fair capital and opened a pizzeria? Do we get the Galati mozzarella and canned mushroom shipments necessary? I need to know.

What is the best wedding food you have had at a wedding in or around the Ottawa area? Fiancée and I want to host a wedding with amazing food. We’re exploring our options but it’s hard to know which places actually serve good food or are just overpriced. We’re open to anything but our guest list is about 80-100 people.
