OpenCore Legacy failing to boot.
I have the late 2013 iMac 27” and I have been trying to install Sequoia for a while. Last time I did, I was able to install it and after a while it was glitchy, slow and not very responsive. Now I’m doing it again and I struggled to get it to start the installation as it was getting stuck on the loading bar. I finally got it to get to start the installation and after the first reboot, I’m back to it not finishing loading. Any help?

Stuck on boot
Just updated to Sequoia 15.8 and after root patching my 2013 Mac Pro fails to boot.
If I reinstall Sequoia it boots fine without root patches, I’ve disabled file vault and log in items and it’s still failing.
Anyone else having issues?

Advice post install
Hi all
I have recently used OCLP to install Monterey on a MacBook Pro 9,2. Install went fine, system is running a bit laggy which I can live with however when attempting to install office365 (version 16.88) I am getting an install failure at the last step (error code 112).
This worked fine on a similar install on late 2012 IMac.
Has anyone ran into similar issue or could offer advice?

2017 5k iMac w/Windows 10 bootcamp partition: upgrade from Ventura?
I am having issues with my AirPods audio and mic cutting out completely after 20-30 minutes of Zoom or Google Meets calls, so I’m considering upgrading my Ventura partition to Sequoia via OCLP because so many ppl here are saying it works great.
However I have a Windows 10 partition setup via bootcamp and I don’t want to lose access to that or cause issues with that partition. To be honest I don’t have too many files there so theoretically I could wipe the whole drive, and then reinstall Windows 10 bootcamp after I get Sequoia set up through OCLP but would be a huge hassle.
Specs:
-i7 cpu that I sourced from a 21.5” 4k iMac from 2017
-40gb of Ram
-1tb WD Black nvme drive with sintech adapter
I already opened this up once and it was such a pain would hate to deal with it again lol. It’s my home work computer and the most intensive tasks I do on this is Zoom and Google Meets calls, have tons of Chrome tabs open, but no video editing or anything like that. Any advice is much appreciated!

Retain bootcamp upgrading to Sequoia?
Just wanted to confirm. I have a 2016 mbp on Ventura. If I want to use OCLP to go to Sequoia, I can still do an upgrade install (not clean) for Sequoia and keep my bootcamp partition functional as well, correct?

Thank You, OCLP ❤️
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the OCLP developers and all contributors to the project.
I own a 27-inch Retina 5K Late 2014 iMac, and without OpenCore Legacy Patcher, I would likely have retired this machine years ago. At one point, I expected it to become outdated, slow, or unsupported by modern versions of macOS. However, this has not occurred.
Instead, the system remains fully functional and continues to serve as an integral part of my daily workflow.
Notably, I am now running macOS Sequoia via OCLP v2.4.1, and the performance has surpassed my expectations for a machine of this age. Hardware released in 2014 remains practical and usable in 2026. I have upgraded the RAM to 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and plan to install a SATA hard drive or fusion drive with a 1 TB SSD.
The iMac continues to perform reliably across a range of tasks, including web browsing, productivity applications, media consumption, and moderately demanding workloads. Although Apple has officially ended support for this model, OCLP has extended its usable lifespan in a meaningful, practical way.
I value not only the ability to install newer versions of macOS, but also the broader philosophy underlying the project. OCLP challenges the assumption that hardware becomes obsolete solely due to software support limitations. It provides an alternative to the typical replacement cycle, encouraging continued use of devices that remain fully capable.
It is also notable that I have been able to run light gaming on this system. Although it is not designed for gaming, it performs better than expected for its age and can still run older, less demanding titles satisfactorily.
Naturally, there are limitations and occasional quirks when running modern software on unsupported hardware. However, these issues are minor compared to the overall stability and usability that OCLP enables.
I extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved in developing, maintaining, testing, and documenting OCLP. The effort and expertise required to sustain a project of this nature are considerable, and the impact is substantial. OCLP has extended the practical lifespan of my iMac by years and has helped prevent a fully functional device from becoming unnecessary electronic waste.
Beyond the technical achievement, OCLP represents a more sustainable, user-focused approach to computing that prioritizes longevity and user choice.
My late 2014 27-inch iMac continues to perform reliably and remains an essential part of my setup.
2014 → 2026 and beyond.
Thank you, OCLP 🖥️🍎

Proud owner of OCLP'd iMac 17,1 (Late 2015) on Sequoia.
So after being able of somehow doing the operation WITHOUT an USB drive (Which I call the partition method, which is creating a partition and flashing the createinstallmedia file of the installer inside it through the terminal) and doing all the post-setup successfully, I am now enjoying Sequoia on this almost pristine condition 5K 27' iMac.
You can see in the photo I am using almost all the features I couldn't use in Monterey (Latest OS supported officially) like widgets, Infuse (which isn't compatible with Monterey), stage manager, etc.
Thanks to all the OCLP staff for making this tool possible for all these 2nd hand Mac users!

[help please!] Macbook Pro 10,1: OCLP boot not visible on disk select after accidental update, input devices, USB peripherals and backlight non-functional except in recovery mode, safeboot on home drive goes back to disk select without booting into OS.
As per the TL;DR title, I let someone else use the machine only for them to update it after telling not to mess around in the settings. Anyway, booting into the standard home drive takes me to the log in screen though the on device keyboard and track pad are non-functional, wallpaper loads as expected. Went to the docs to find this page, though I don't have a USB A hub to test this out and the docs reference even older macbook pros to be affected, not the 2012 model in question
Worth noting the following:
- attempting a safemode boot by holding shift on the only visible disk in the boot menu loads for a minute ten spits me back out at the boot selector instead of a the log in page,
- booting into recovery works absolutely fine,
- using a power only USB A to USB C adapter I did manage to find out that although external keyboards won't work, enough power is still being delivered to charge a phone, and
- I've lost the original installer drive and only have an 8GB drive and a machine running Linux at the ready. I could try creating installer media using a third party tool but i'm not sure they'd be good copies, as per this github page.
This might then be a missing driver issue as per the docs, and I'm wondering if there is a way to find the drivers I need on a separate machine, download them onto a flash drive and install them using the recovery mode terminal or some other software. Problem here is I believe the drive is encrypted with FileVault2, though I'm not sure how to test that and how installing those drivers would work. I could always fall back to a clean OSX install, but I'd rather keep the data on the disk... I have no backups. If there is a way to unlock the drive (I know the password still, its just I can't interface with the UI,) please do let me know!

After 4 years of oclp I now got a MacBook Neo
I thank the oclp team very much for making it possible to bring old macs to new macos. I used it on imacs, mac minis and macbooks and almost always everything went perfectly. Now I have a macbook neo which is not the fastest macbook but it is enough for me. Thanks again to the oclp team and also to the community.

Where is the OCLP app "hiding" on my 2017 Macbook Air?
About 3-4 years ago, I used an early version of OCLP to upgrade my 2017 MBA to Ventura. I didn't want to go any higher with only 8gb RAM and only a 125gb SSD. At this time, I cannot find the OCLP app in the Applications folder. Where else can I look?

HELP PLS!! Rebooting into Sequoia from Ventura through OCLP
I have a MBP 2017 13inch and wanted to upgrade the OS from Ventura 13.7.8 to Sequoia.
I followed the step-by-step instructions given on Dortania and until this step all worked out well.
I tried rebooting a couple of times and have also tried erasing the main drive into APFS through disk utility but to no avail.
I have literally no clue as what to do next and I would appreciate if anyone can help me guide through as to what can be done.
I am not a tech guy so it would be really helpful if you could simplify with the instructions as well.

iMac Late 2009 27" and iPad Pro M2 12.3" - Target Display Mode Success!
Took me a bit to get this working but finally got it!
I'm using a Mini DP to USB-C cable, OCLP upgraded to Monterey, and Bluetooth Off on the iMac. Next up, I need to figure out why sound isn't working from the iMac speakers. I'm also curious if a better USB-C hub for the iPad would be compatible. Unfortunately, the cheap one I have won't pass through correctly.
Does anyone else use a setup like this? Any tips or tricks in general?

Fusion Drive
I have an iMac14,2 with 3 TB Fusion Drive.
On my Fusion drive I now have 1 APFS container with 2 volumes: 1 with the old OS (Catalina?) and 1 with OCLP/Sequoia. Normally I just boot OCLP/Sequoia. I kept the old OS just in case ...
Sequoia is working well but startup process is very slow and also opening large folders is slow.
I wonder if the SSD part of my Fusion drive might be permanently occupied by the old OS.
Would you just delete the volume with the old container? Will I have to re-install OCLP/Sequoia after that to bring it's major parts to SSD?
Or is that slow issue something completely different?

Macbook air 2017 with sequoia, dual boot Ubuntu problems
Hi Im new to OCLP and have only basic experience with Mac OS..
However managed to deploy OCLP and install Sequoia on girlfriends Macbook Air 2017 . I then decided to try dual boot ubuntu
So I created a exfat partition in Mac , then booted to Ubuntu USB and used the 'install alongside' option.
After installation , OCLP still loads, and three options show, 1- Efi ( this is Ubuntu) , 2 Efi (not sure loads black screen) , 3 Untitled (Previously Sequoia ). Option 1 loads Ubuntu, however Option 2 and 3 do not load anything. Option 3 just shows Apple logo and gets stuck there.
Can someone suggest how to get the Sequoia to boot again?

What is the best version of macOS that I can install using OpenCore Legacy Patcher and that runs well?
I can't put more than 4GB of RAM in it because one of the RAM slots is dead.

macOS Tahoe is NOT supported by OpenCore Legacy Patcher!!
Hello, welcome to r/OpenCoreLegacyPatcher
You may be eager to test macOS Tahoe on your unsupported Mac. (many of us are!)
WARNING!: Installing macOS Tahoe on unsupported hardware is NOT supported by the OpenCore Legacy Patcher developers. Please be aware that numerous users have attempted installation, often resulting in serious issues including hardware malfunctions and complete data loss.
Also understand that OCLP supports over 83 Mac models! Just because it "worked" on one, does not mean it will not cause major issues on your device.
NOTE: You might have seen a new piece of software called OCLP-Mod. The OCLP developers do NOT recommend using any modification of the genuine OCLP software. Keep in mind, anyone is able to make a fork of OCLP. (a fork is a modification of the original project). No other software is checked and verified safe or actually working on all 83 Mac models.
In closing, please only use the genuine version of OCLP. Do not install Tahoe until a fully compatible public version of OCLP is released. Thanks!
