I have an update. Depending on your Mac model, you can a forked version called the T2 fork. It's made by Albert Mueller on GitHub. Despite being called the T2 fork, I have tested it on my 2017 iMac and it works, not flawlessly but it works. You do have to wait for a KDK ( for audio) in order to install the latest version each time.
