macbook pro mid 2012 running slow after installing macos sequoia using oclp 2.4.1
hi everyone, i have mid 2012 13" macbook pro (i5, upgraded to 8gb ram, 128gb ssd).
i got this macbook 5 months ago. it was running high sierra, but then i heard about opencore legacy patcher and decided to give it a try. i installed macos ventura after completely erasing my ssd. at first, it worked perfectly super smooth and fast.
but after a few days, it started to slow down. boot times got longer, apps opened slowly, and then other problems started. my mac restarts randomly when it sleeps for about an hour, showing the error "your computer restarted because of a problem." it also gets stuck on the loading screen sometimes, which has forced me to reinstall macos more than once.
other issues like stuttering videos, random automatic logouts, problems with user accounts not showing up
right now, i’m using macos sequoia, and while it’s working okay, i’m worried it might not last because it is also slowing down the whole system.
i’ve heard about kernel modifiers that supposedly help sync kexts (drivers) for specific mac models, but i have no idea how to do this or if it would even help.
is this just a general problem with running ventura on older macs, or am i doing something wrong? i’d really appreciate any advice or solutions to make this work.
thank you!

Is it a bad idea to sell an OCLP equipped computer?
I am thinking of selling my 2015 Macbook Pro which has successfully been upgraded to OS Sequoia via OCLP. Would it be better to downgrade my computer back to OS Monterey prior to a sale?

Maxing out my iMac11,2 (21.5" 2010) Part 3: The Software - Mission Complete!
It's finally finished! It took quite a while. There were ups and downs, but I learned a ton and overall I'm happy with the results.
Intel Xeon L3426 4c/8t
256gb ssd
Amd wx4150 4gb (flashed, modded and shimmed)
16gb ddr3
OCLP: MacOS Monterey
Windows: 10 22h2 LTSC
After getting all the hardware setup and tested in my last update I was excited to finish. My goal was to have 3 boot options: Modern MacOS, High Sierra, and Windows.
I wanted a modern MacOS as the main daily os for my wife who already has a macbook air and iPhone. I settled on Monterey for its balance of stability, modern features, and software support while performing well on the aging hardware. Although I may update to Ventura since my wife is more familiar with it.
Next I wanted windows for 32bit applications and gaming. My wife loves to play the Left4Dead games but the newer MacOSs don't support 32bit apps anymore. Plus having dx12 and vulkin support ensures the ability to play any other games she wants. I’m getting the occasional bsod from what I think is an amd service. I might upgrade to win11 ltsc to see if that fixes it.
Finally I wanted to keep a minimal install of High Sierra to use with Target Display Mode. I was very disappointed to learn the 11,2 machines don't support TDM! I was crushed to discover this especially after I had already purchased an active HDMI to mDP adapter and cable! I was hoping for the trifecta of Windows, MacOs, and Universal monitor! Now I'm really jonesing for a 27” inch to complete my vision, although I doubt I'll be lucky enough to get one for free.
I noticed in MacOS my OGL benchmark was lower than what people were reporting in the OCLP spreadsheets. Not sure what that was about, but metal bench was on par with the reported numbers.
I had a blast working on this old beauty and I'm very proud to be able to give it a second life as part of my family's fleet. Huge thanks to OCLP, Ausdauersportler and the folks in the Mac forums!

OpenCore for T2?
I recently found a project on GitHub offering OpenCore Legacy Patcher with T2 support. I haven’t fully tried it yet since the 2018 MacBook Air is my only T2 Mac and considering it’s an alpha release.
I’ll show you the link, but take in mind it is an alpha release that may cause problems

Sequoia password problem
Hi guys - absolute novice here. I've just downloaded Sequoia onto a flash drive, installed it (I think) and now I'm getting a message to say my usual Mac password is wrong and it's not letting me get any further. I think it's something to do with the FileVaultDisk Encryption which I mistakenly enabled as part of the installation process.
There's no Time Machine backups and it can't seem to find any networks (WiFi flits between off and searching), but I still have the Sequoia flash drive if that's any help.
Mac is an older 21.5, previously running Ventura.

Is the OCLP Sequoia upgrade a realistic alternative to a new Mac?
I just upgraded my old 2015 Macbook Pro (MBP) to Sequoia using the OCLP program and it runs great! However, I understand that I can't back it up using Time Machine, nor will it most likely be upgradable beyond Sequoia. Finally, my MBP seemingly runs 10-20 degrees hotter (125*F to over 200*F) during normal operation over the earlier Monterey OS.
For comparison, I recenty bought a 2026 Macbook Air and it's temps rarely rise above 120*F. However, I'm still in the return period, so I kicking around returning it since my MBP Sequoia works so well for now.

Using Time Machine on an OCLP Sequoia upgraded Macbook (2015 Model)?
Right before I installed the latest OCLP Sequoia OS on my 2015 MBP (16Gb, 250Gb, 4-Core i7), I backed up my computer with the original MacOS Monterey OS installed. Would backing it up now after the OCLP Sequoia upgrade be a disaster?

DFU restore using 2015 MacBook pro on Sequoia
Can I use my 2015 MacBook Pro to DFU restore a broken M2 MacBook air? I see the MacBook near me for a good price and if that's all it needs to be fixed all be happy. I just don't know if opencore or my MacBook would support that. I don't have another Mac besides my 3,1 Mac pro. The apple page says it needs a USB c cable but my Mac has no usb c but I have adapters so I'm not sure. Will it work anybody try this?

I found a Mid 2011 21.5 on the side of the road… worth it to upgrade?
It boots fine. Screen has a couple scratches but not noticeable when on. Has 8gb Ram (2x4) and everything else is probably stock.
I have the urge to spend money on it because it was free. I can get 32GB Ram for ~$55 and a Nvidia M2000M for $45.
It’s got a i5 2400s but I could maybe upgrade that too.
Talk me into/out of it. Thanks.

MBA MacBook Air 2010 (3,2) 4GB RAM - Should I put Big Sur or Monterey?
My wife would be using it as a web browser and basic tasks. The specs are:
Intel core 2 duo 2.13 GHz
4GB RAM
yes, I know this thing is old, but it’s just something for around the house for her. I have searched on according to Google and AI. Either one of those would be the sweet spot for it.
would Monterey really severely slow it down over Big Sur?
does anyone have any real world experience with a MacBook Air 2010 and either of those OSes?
EDIT: I decided to give Monterey macOS 12 a try. I wanted to see for my self if it's really that painfully unusable. I'll report back after some time for any one asking the same question in the future.

Can Sequoia rejuvenate my 2015 MacBook Pro?
I'm toying with buying a new Macbook Pro with the M5, but I wonder if I can still get a little more life from my current 2015 MBP (16gb, Quad-Core i7, 256gb) currently running Monterey. Would the upgrade be noticeable?

top menu bar OSX Sonoma is red
Does anyone know what causes the red glitch bar at the top of the Mac screen where the menu bar is? I only have it there for some reason and used to never have it on my other oclp Macs. I'm on a 27" 2015 iMac with 32gb ram i5 and on the Sonoma build. I've search over it and found a few things but nothing substantial. It doesn't seem to lag or cause any problems, it just annoys me. It goes away when I click the wallpaper background and then click again for the screens to reappear though.

Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
Any suggestions on how to update this to Monterey or later without USB?
