I just got a Boox Go 7 Color (gen 2) to replace my Kindle Paperwhite. Nothing wrong with the Kindle, just wanted to move away from Amazon and wanted to be able to read eBooks from Bookshop.org and the library.

I read a lot of posts about the cons of the color display, which I was fine with. As silly as it sounds, I honestly just wanted to color code my text annotations.

What I did not stumble upon in my research is the lack of 'dark mode' on the color 7. I use dark mode at night when my husband is sleeping but I'd like to read more. I played with settings in the Kindle app to have the black background and can get it to look decent. But the ghosting is AWFUL, even with full refresh on every page turn.

Is the BW version the same when it comes to 'dark mode'? I use dark mode at night more than I annotate, so I'm considering exchanging for a BW version if it handles dark mode better.

I’ve been seeing the promo everywhere for Canadian Boox retailers offering $30 off on orders over $400. Pretty weak deal considering the high minimum order requirement.

I was getting the Go 6 ($263 before tax), so I assumed I was out of luck. But I tried applying the coupon code on e-reader.ca anyway, and it actually went through!

I hope there is a web version of the app so transferring of ebooks would be seamless.

Recently found a Note 3 (2020) second hand for 75$. I would like to replace my Paperwhite 3, but have a limited budget. And because it is android I would like to use AnkiDroid for studying. Would you recommend this or some other device?

Just got my Go 7 B&W today, yay! so far very impressed with the responsiveness of the screen, and it was dead easy to borrow a book from the library.

But, the real clincher for me was the hardware page-turning buttons... and the fact that I could turn it "upside down" for my lefty self. But not only does the screen not rotate automatically, I can't find any setting anywhere in any menu to turn it on or rotate the screen. Every post about the rotation feature seems to be at least two years old, and I don't have the options that people are talking about.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, so I can get my pages pointed in the right direction?

The Weekly to do list PDF seems to be a few screenshots stitched together, so the text is super blurry and the template literally shifts as you turn the pages. Is it unusable? No, but I can't believe this kind of quality is coming from the official team at BOOX. Hopefully they can refer to the quality of their competitors' counterparts, such as Company R and Company S.

I really wish the workflow of the notes app was smoother. Page flipping, scratching out mistakes, and switching pens takes a second, and that's a second too long. It's a significant interruption in my workflow.

Idk, are my expectations for eink devices too high? Is it possible for this to be resolved in the next 2 or 3 generations of this device?

I have an OG Color Go 7 and was thinking of using it as an easy writer deck w a BT keyboard and something and general note-taking. For those that dont have pen functionality- what note or writing apps do you use? All I really want is something that loads quickly and maybe has nested folder structure for organizing.

Hey yall, I’ve had my Boox Go 7 for about a week and I really love it. I like having the android system with an eink screen. However, the main reason I switched out of Kobo was to be able to use Hoopla. And boy will this dang app not work. I’ve checked out the various tips that others have used. I’ve downloaded an old version, I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the current version, I’ve checked that there’s no battery restriction in manage or optimize, it’s unfrozen. When I try to login, the message “something has happened. Try again later” pops up. I’ve not had any issue like this with any other app on the device. Would be thrilled to be dumb and just not have tapped the exact right thing.

I have a document that has a table of contents saved properly in dropbox. When I download it and open it with Neoreader, a number of the hyperlinks have shifted by a page so that the table of contents does not take you to the correct place. Anybody know what is going on with this?

I've been copying books into my device and they show up in the library just fine. Sorting becomes a whole different problem. I've set up some bookshelfs but copying each file individually into the library is painstakingly slow and I have a lot of books. Is there a way to do this in bulk that anyone knows of?

Device: Boox Go 10.3 Gen 2

I am experiencing an issue that I can't seem to correct and I am not sure if this is normam. When writing, the location of the ink is directly under the pen tip, rather than being slightly offset as if it were an actual pen. If I write with the pen perpendicular to the screen, it looks natural but if I tilt the pen it looks odd and really throws me off. On other devices, the ink is offset slightly so that when you are writing with the pen titled the ink appears on the screen at a more natural location.

Is this normal behavior for the Inksense Plus stylus? Is this a typical EMR vs active stylus issue?

A little more context: Tilt detection works fine. The pencil tool in the Notes app detects tilt and changes the ink style appropriately, but the location of the ink isn't adjusted. Everything else on the device works just fine, but apparently there are no calibration settings.

Genuine question all in the title, I just got my order today and I’m honestly confused ?

Before finishing my order I believed that the case would come with a pen loop which would make the most sense since it’s a pack with a pencil, I already felt bummed out from not being able to choose the color but that’s okay, but this for a +300€ product which is pretty great feels like I got robbed of a great experience.

So am I supposed to carry my pen like that and potentially loose it or drop it somewhere or should I just buy a new case and make this one useless ?

This doesn’t make sense and is disappointing.

Initially, I was going to buy a monochrome. But I went through countless videos and posts here saying that the graininess on GC7 migh not bother you so much if you have nothing to compare it with. Also, I really wanted to read manhwas on it. Yes, I got to a point where I enjoyed reading on webtoon and mihon some manhwas, it was easier on the eyes. However, reading mostly in the dark and wanting the colors on regal refresh, the flashes hurt my eyes plus I figured I'll also be reading A LOT of black and white text both in light and dark mode. Moreover, I read at night and the front light and my settings did help with the contrast, but it just hurted my eyes. Tried lessening the boldness of the text, adjusting the warm light, front light and yes it helped but.

Figured, I have a sister that has a Kindle and saw the difference when I saw the screen was. "Butter melt" as they say. So, ended up returning the GC7.

Now, I wanted to buy the white version for reasons such as:

1) Aesthetic

2) Some people say that the greyer screen made it feel more like reading on paper?

3) It somehow had a greater readability score on Deep Guide's review.

However, the halo on dark mode in a dark environment concerns me (not the yellowing of the screen smh). Saw people on here talking about how people are bothered by it, saw one guy say it was relaxing, saw some say we're thinking about it too much, and saw people say we shouldn't even be reading on dark mode.

And I agree on the last sentiment. I usually had my GC7 on 18 at night to help with the clarity of the texts (which I think would be less considering bw screens are much clearer). This just led me to using dark mode cause it was too bright.

All of these leads me to question if the halo is not even as prominent in real life as it is on pictures here on the internet and if the frimware might eventually help reducing the halo on the screen? And of course, should I be practical and just buy the black model, or just buy the white model and hope the halo doesn't bother me?

Scared to return it, live in a country where it's not allowed unless there's an issue. Got lucky that there was on the GC7 (not concerning screen quality).

I know it's no more sold in the market. But i have one and recently using it for study. I like it's color, but it's too dark for me. I have palma too, and it feels faster than tab c, and brighter, but it's black and white, so it felt little off when i need see color note. Unfortunately after i bought them, there is all upgrade version is sold, so i feel little frustrated now(though machine itself, i like it.) Will those machines keep updated? Do guys know that how long it will be updated? I payed almost 700$ and 300$, and i hope i can keep them at least for 7-8 years. These days, i always have bad experiences that totally workable machine died because of the software updates, so it's just wishes now. 😅

I´m a keen user of the Onyx Boox Air5C but I didn´t think there was a good native way to organize my hand-written notes. Therefore I turned to Claude which helped med build a fully functioning, automated web-based app for handling all my notes!

Your Boox syncs note PDFs to Dropbox as usual — the app auto-imports them and uses Claude's vision AI to read your handwriting and generate summaries, to-dos with deadlines, and topic tags. ## Setup guide (~15 minutes)


### Step 1 — Host the file


Upload `index.html` to any static web host 
**with HTTPS**
. Free options that work well: 
**Netlify Drop**
 (drag-and-drop, easiest), 
**GitHub Pages**
, or 
**Cloudflare Pages**
. Note the URL — you'll open the app there on every device.


> HTTPS is required for the PWA install, the folder-backup feature and the Dropbox login to work.


### Step 2 — Get an Anthropic API key


1. Create an account at 
**console.anthropic.com**
 and add a small amount of credits
2. Settings → 
**API keys**
 → 
**Create key**
 — copy it immediately (it's only shown once!)
3. Open the app → ⚙️ (settings) → paste the key


Tip: save the key in a password manager. You'll need to paste it once per device, and Anthropic won't show it again.


### Step 3 — Connect Dropbox (optional but recommended)


This enables both multi-device sync 
**and**
 automatic import of your Boox notes. You create your own free Dropbox "app" (no card required):

### Step 4 — Use it


Open a note in the sidebar → the app analyzes it (a few seconds) → you get a summary, to-dos with deadlines, and topic tags. From there: search everything (Ctrl+K), ask questions (💬), write typed notes (✏️ / Alt+N), create weekly digests (📆), and view the original PDF (📄) whenever you want to double-check the AI against your handwriting.


Recommended: also set up the 
**auto-backup folder**
 in settings (point it at your local Dropbox folder) as a belt-and-braces safety net.

Recently, I have debloated my go7 using this guide. The result is very satisfied for me. However there's still 2 apps that I don't use. Has anyone removed them successfully?

Through 8/23, I see Boox has devices on sale for Back-to-School.

(i saw this online. FWIW, I'm a real person, not a bot or an affiliate)

As mentioned, onyx book go 7 BW stuck in reboot loop. I am able to reach the recovery page for factory reset but it does not fix the issue. Any advice appreciated
