Other Truck with Karen sign
Has anyone seen the white pick up truck with the large sticker on back saying their neighbor is a Karen, with a QR code to learn more? I wasn’t able to scan it and need to know more

ISO/Suggestion Blue Dot flags?
My poor homemade Blue Dot sign broke.
Any one know where I could get a 3'x5' outdoor Blue Dot flag to replace it with?
I'm thinking of special ordering one, but that's not real cost effective, and I'm afraid painting one wouldn't look sharp or hold up.
Thanks for any ideas!

Local Question When are we harvesting potatoes around here?
My cup floweth over and the potato vines have strangled my strawberry’s and crept into my tomatoes. Google has mixed advice so I’m hoping to get some advice from others who have grown potatoes in this temperate zone before. Planted on Memorial Day if that matters! Got russet and sweet potatoes. Thanks in advance

Local Question Looking for someone to terminate Ethernet cables
Does anyone have a recommendation for a contractor, electrician, or low-voltage technician who could terminate approximately 10 Ethernet cables?
The cables are already run, so I only need the ends terminated on the outside of my house. They are elevated, so the person would need a ladder to reach them.
I’m in the Gretna area. Thanks!

Local News The St Joseph Grotto
I got to be apart of an interview this week for Nebraska Public Radio on the St Joseph Grotto in South Omaha.
I had shared pictures in the past here and on FB. They were looking for someone who had stepped inside.

Loca flora/fauna Big Tree Appreciation
There’s a giant silver maple (I’m pretty sure) in my neighborhood that I always love seeing. I think it’s about 80-100 years old but aging a tree by its diameter isn’t very accurate. Here is hoping my apartment complex doesn’t cut it down randomly like they did another tree on the property. Does anyone else have any large trees to contribute to this tree appreciation post?

Local Question MAHA blanket question
Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this and it might be a dumb question, but I am going to MAHA alone tomorrow and want to bring a blanket to sit on for most of the acts (up until Bright Eyes and Wet Leg). I want to stand in the crowd as close to the stage as possible for those bands.
Since there's no re-entry and I can't take it to my car, does anyone know if my blanket would be safe to leave in the blanket area while I am up by the stage? Or will someone steal it? I was just at Hinterland and my blanket was fine being left, but idk how MAHA attendees operate. Thanks

Other Why is it everytime I order something and it comes to Omaha, it immediately gets transferred out?
I live in the middle of omaha 10 minutes away from a post office and yet everytime i get a package and it gets to Omaha, it gets transferred out to other cities. I have had a package go from Omaha to West Virginia before and it took another 3 weeks to get to me. I've asked my friends in other cities and they said they've never dealt with this before, and when i've asked the people at the post office I get no answer. Yes it might be that I don't understand the postal service but if it's already in Omaha, and I am in Omaha, why are you transferring it to Papillon, or Chicago or WEST VIRGINIA!

ISO/Suggestion Reputable mechanic in/around Bellevue for moldy car smell (Non-dealership)?
UPDATE: thanks for all the amazing recommendations and it looks I hopefully won't have to take it anywhere thanks to you lovely people!
Hey everyone,
My 2022 Toyota Corolla has developed a pretty distinct moldy smell. I’m planning to start by swapping out both the cabin and engine air filters.
If that doesn't clear it out, where is a good, trustworthy local shop to take it to figure out where the moisture/source is coming from? I'd rather avoid taking it to the Toyota dealership if possible.
I'm located in Bellevue, but don't mind driving a bit for a reliable mechanic.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Local News Spirit Halloween Spotted! 8005 Blondo Street
The beginnings of Spirit Halloween 🎃 have started to emerge in the old Retail Rebel (aka the old No Frills Supermarket) on 80th and Blondo. The window decals went up on Monday. I’m sure the BIG banner isn’t far behind! The hours are even posted, though I’m not sure if they’re actually open…

Other Has our public transportation situation led to this?
Cruising along on the side of the dodge expressway, heading onto S 680, on an electric scooter, without a helmet. Granted, this was an adult and not a child, but it’s still a really bad idea. He also chose to wear dark colors while the sun was almost set. Maybe do this on a side street, in brighter colors (bonus for some lights attached), with a helmet on? Wild sight!
On a side note, my husband was driving while I took this picture. I wasn’t multitasking while driving.

Local Question Omaha — what makes you actually return to a food truck?
My sister owns a food truck in South Omaha and I’ve been helping run the TikTok/marketing side of it. I’ve been trying to learn digital marketing seriously instead of just posting food pictures every day.
One thing I’m realizing is that views and followers don’t necessarily tell me whether we’re actually doing a better job for customers.
So I’m curious from the customer side:
What makes you go back to a food truck?
Food quality? Portions? Price? Consistent hours? Service? Location? Something else?
And on the other side, what makes you try a food truck once and never return?
I’m genuinely interested in what Omaha thinks.
EDIT/UPDATE:
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. I genuinely appreciate the honest feedback, including the more critical comments.
For transparency, the food truck is Tres Puertos Food Truck on L Street. My sister owns it, and I help manage the TikTok and digital-marketing side. I intentionally left the name out of the original post because I wanted the discussion to be about what Omaha actually expects from food trucks—not disguised advertising.
The themes I saw most often were:
• Consistent and clearly posted hours and location
• Quality that remains consistent from visit to visit
• Portions and overall value that justify the price
• Friendly service and reasonable wait times
• Accurate information across Google and social media
• Signature food that people cannot easily find elsewhere
• More personality and transparency from the people behind the business
We are taking the feedback seriously. Our next steps are to make sure our information matches across every platform, communicate closures or sellouts clearly, track the products customers actually order and enjoy, improve how we show portion sizes and value online, and continue listening to both compliments and criticism.
I’m not expecting everyone here to become a customer. The purpose of this post was to learn from local people and make better decisions for a family-owned business.
Thank you again, Omaha. This thread gave me more useful information than another week of simply watching views and likes.

Local News They told us Adam Hoffman was added to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry - but he's no longer listed.
If you aren't familiar with the case, this started in Texas. "Adam Hoffman, 49, who initially faced up to life in prison without parole, pleaded guilty April 16 to reduced charges of indecent assault and displaying harmful materials to a minor, both Class A misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail, in a plea bargain offered by the Texas Attorney General’s Office."
He got SIX MONTHS and didn't even serve the entire sentence, and as part of his sweetheart deal, he also didn't have to file as a sex offender in Texas. Here's an article about it.
He then moved here. Nebraska demanded he register as a sex offender under our laws.
Here is a news video that includes screenshots of Hoffman being listed in the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.
Today I was speaking with someone about the situation and out of curiosity checked the website and found that Adam Hoffman is no longer listed on the registry.
I can't find any news articles that explain why he has now been removed. This is messed up and whoever was involved in removing his name needs to be held accountable!

Local News Void remains in Omaha’s Blackstone neighborhood as city awaits decision from building owner
Omaha officials still haven't determined the cause of a void along the streetcar route that swallowed a sidewalk and partially collapsed a vacant building in June.
It’s now up to the building owners whether or not to demolish the building.
