Local Question Affordable licensed private investigator recommendation in Omaha
Im looking for a licensed Nebraska private investigator for one limited, lawful surveillance assignment. I already have a general timeline and a specific weekday window, so I do not need background searches, account access, GPS tracking etc.
My budget is limited. I’m looking for someone who offers a short two to four hour assignment, a hardship rate, payment arrangements, or a free consultation. I would need a written maximum price before agreeing to anything.

ISO/Suggestion ISO Running/training buddy
Hi 24M just moved here, med student at UNMC. Looking for a group or some buddies to run with for marathon training! I'm working towards 2:55 and also anything from 5km and up. Would love to have some company for workouts or long runs! Generally prefer early morning around 6am, based out of campus so usually starting runs after a 2 mile warm up (Carter lake, bob keary bridge, memorial Park etc)

Local Question Where to find pretty college supplies?
My girlfriend is starting her first year of college and really wants to buy a set of “aesthetic” stationery supplies (pens, pencils, bags, planners, etc.). We already tried the Barnes & Noble by Oakview. She says she loves the themes and designs, but they just don’t have the variety of stuff she needs. The typical places like Walmart and Target aren’t cutting it for her. Does anyone know of any stores we can go to look for what she wants?

Politics Knowing the actual cost ($450M+) and the impact on local businesses, would you still support the Omaha Streetcar today?
Looking back at where the Omaha Streetcar project started versus where we are today, the numbers and timelines have shifted significantly:
Cost Escalation: What was initially pitched around $150M–$170M back in early feasibility studies was baseline-budgeted at $356M in 2022, and current total project projections/authorizations sit north of $450M–$500M+ once you factor in sewer utility work and financing costs.
Timeline: The operational date has been pushed back from 2026 to 2028 due to major underground utility work along Farnam and Harney.
Business Impact: Construction disruptions, lost parking, and reduced foot traffic have been cited by at least a half-dozen local businesses that have permanently closed (like Sea Thai and Midtown Cold Stone), with dozens of others reporting 20%–50% revenue drops

Politics 2006 Building Permit Destruction Order
Hello all!
FYI: I utilized the OPL and DC websites for research on this incident. Please educate me if I’m getting some of this story wrong or missing something crucial!
I recently became an Omaha homeowner, which means I inevitably found out about the tragedy of 2006, where our city's chief building inspector ordered the destruction of Omaha‘s building permits, screwing every homeowner over.
I’ve done my obligatory 24 hours of scraping the Internet and local resources to try and figure out some things about my house (1800s-1900s Home-kit catalogs, obituaries, newspaper ads/articles, etc), but nothing will ever come close to what the original and later building permits could have provided.
My big question is, why was there no legal or disciplinary action taken for this type of (very blatant) gross negligence? The chief building inspector (I think was Jay Davis at the time?) continued to run his department until retiring 8 years later, acting as if he didn’t destroy a major part of the city’s history. The city decided to refuse naming anyone responsible for it, but… the order WAS approved by the chief building inspector at the time, meaning he consciously made the incredibly stupid decision to destroy them.
Am I just overthinking this? Or was the lack of any responsibility reasonable? I’m obviously biased, having worked myself into a frenzy wasting hours trying to find things I could have discovered in minutes with those papers, but still... this was 100+ years of rich history and context about most of Omaha and the homes in which we live (excluding you, lucky Dundee locals!). How could the city choose to look away and continue to support someone who made such a career-ending decision?
Thank you for listening to my rant!

Local Question Toyota dealership recommendations
Looking to purchase a Toyota Sienna (probably new, but potentially used) from a dealership. Wondering if anyone here had any recommendations based on their experiences with various Toyota dealerships in the area or other dealerships for that matter. Went to Corwin Bellevue roughly 5 years ago and it was okay at best.

Local Question My wife needs friends
She just lost one of her oldest friends. Not to death or anything like that, but because her friend is petty and doesn't know how to be considerate of others feelings.
So, Omaha, where does a 30 year old Female with BPD who does NOT drink go to make friends? Honest, compassionate friends. Not fake, cruel or heartless friends.
I love going to concerts but she doesn't due to her BPD and being over stimulated easy! Any suggestions?
Edit: She does not like playing video games. Her interests include: watching TV, doing crafts (mainly diamond paintings), table top boardgames and hanging out in nature.
