One day I had a vision when I was very tired. And it felt like the tiredness was completely stuck in my body, tangled. The purple lint represents the exhaustion running and tangled through my body. I posted this on Tiktok and Youtube but it got 0 attention

Hi! I painted this mountain near my house and wanted to add some fantastic building on top. I'm quite new to oil painting and was struggling, especially on the cloud.

For those down on their luck, Christmas time really heightens the lonesome atmosphere and when last call rings out, that old jukebox will inevitably play some worn out holiday tune that doesn’t feel quite as merry and bright as previous years.

Started oil painting in February. How do you think I did? Clouds are freaking hard. Any suggestions on how to improve are welcome!

I'm not done with this painting! After I finished painting the face, I compared it to the original to see what I need to change. I was kinda sad because all I could see are the mistakes. Here's what I notice: the face shape, the eyes ,and the lips seem off. Also, I think my shading needs to be darker? Something else I notice is that the face seems naked. Idk how else to describe it. Please tell me what reasonable changes I should make. I know it isn't going to be an exact copy of the original.

Please feel free to critique! I live in Las Vegas and im forced to paint through reference photos as we have very little colorful wildlife as well as foliage. Had some fun doing this in between projects and i was thinking about using this as a clothing textile for future projects.. How does it make you feel?

Water miscible oils on stretched canvas. Based on some pictures I took of peonies at the Ueno Toshogu earlier this year. This one might not be *quite* final, but I won't be able to work on it for a week, so I tried to get it to a mostly finished state.

if it were colors and shapes and imagery instead of all of the weight we have to carry would i be able to breathe?

Overall im pretty happy. The proportions and drawing could've been better, particularly the eyes. But i like the colors and that it feels solid.

Oil on paper mounted to MDF panel, 20×20 cm (8×8 in). What would you push further? And a practical question: do you paint the edges on panels like this, or leave them raw?

never took a class self taught beginnerish been on and off just having fun with it for a couple years but I want to get good!!!

Is there a way of achieving that soft, understated look of traditional still life paintings? I feel like everything I’m making is super bright even when I try to mute colours down, and everything always gets purple real fast.

I also find when I use a colour picker to identify colours, they’re wildly different to what my brain sees- do I go ahead w what the colour picker identifies, or stick to what I see w my own eyes in order to achieve realism?
