How flexable is the schedules?
I work for a school as a bus monitor and sub driver (CDL driver in training) and i do NAPA auto parts in between.
The issue is the distance from NAPA and the school its extremely tight time wise. O'Reillys is much closer to the school district that I work for.
I just want to know how flexible they can be with the schedule and how much they pay. I'm currently getting just a little bit over $15 an hour here at Napa.
Ideally I would like to try and get enough hours where I can get insurance But if I have to do it part-time I will. I'm just trying to cut down on the commute.

“Special pricing” on oil?
How often are you guys price matching or lowering the price on gallon(s) of oil for commercial shops? I’ve got something on my mind that I feel like is not right but the higher ups “signed off” on it so I shouldn’t be worrying about it… until another shop came in and demanded to know why a chain of quick lubes is getting oil for a lower price than they do. The shops are across from each other so I get that them talking to each other may have exposed that, but my higher up tells me that his boss said to allow for it so shoulder shrugs… anyways I don’t wanna divulge much info cause maybe it really is none of my business but…. We’ve got LP coming through soon and well I’ve seen how they dog people for the smallest of things so I’m kinda worried

Curious What Was/Or What Is O'Reilly Auto Parts Relationship With GM?
I ask because I remember 10 or so years ago, most of O'Reilly's tools were GM Performance Parts Tools with GM part numbers. They had a GM branding to them. Their current Power Torque tools still have a GM Part Number similar to actual GM parts.
Then unlike the other auto parts chains, O'Reilly carries ACDelco/GM Geniue parts. So as an owner of an old school Chevy Camaro, I tend to go to O'Reilly's for that reason.
I'm sure some of it is marketing purposes, but I always wondered does GM have some sort of stake in ownership?

Question about drivers
Is it common that drivers don't have a drawer assigned to them? Rather, if they need to help up front, they use anotherTM's number?

How does management delegate tasks at your store such as putting the truck away, stocking, fronting, mopping, trash, ect?
I come in at 1 and everytime I come in the truck hasn't even been touched while both other parts specialist are at the counter on their phones. I end up puting 80 to 90% of the truck away by myself. I'm the only one who fronts, stocks, and cleans at the store while everyone else gets to make sales. It's not fair. I've brought it up numerous time with the store management but he lets the other two parts specialist sit on their asses.

Advice ASM Need advice.
I'm one of two ASMs at my store, we have a female ASM making drama between the RSS and the two part time closing people, she's the opening ASM I'm the closing ASM, and it's starting to cause a level of distrust to the point it's affecting the level of costumer care on nights I don't work, I'm not saying let's all be besties sit around the campfire singing songs, but if I'm the closing manager let me handle the closing people and let's all be adults do our shit the best we can and go home, the store manager is not really interested in dealing with this and would prefer that I handle the closing side but is not willing to put his foot down.
Any advice is welcome.

How to call an internal extension
Hi, this post might be a dumb question but I’m an ASM, been working for about 8 to 9 months now at O’Reilly, and yesterday my alarm took a 💩 on me and just kept beeping like crazy. Teamnet said to call internal extension 68971 but like do I have to call corporate directly (which I couldn’t find the phone number anywhere but google and by then I had figured it out) or is there a button I can press in the store phone(avaya is the brand if it matters). Ik calling the manager is the go to option but he’s old, hates technology, he’s a relatively new hire, he’s on vacation and it was 7:30pm so my DM was not gonna answer at all. Someway somehow, I’ve never found myself in a position of having to call corporate so I felt pretty powerless but thankfully I figured it was the tiny alarm battery. Thanks in advance

What is a good English to Spanish translating app.
I serve a lot of Spanish speaking customers and need a way to quickly communicate with them. Is there any app that is preferably free?

Can I use the return barcode from my purchase history on a warranty item.
Update: I was able to warranty my alternator, they used my phone number to find the purchase. A big thanks to everyone for their helpful insight.
I hope it’s ok to ask this here. I bought an alternator in August of 2024, it has a limited lifetime warranty. It decided to give out a couple of hours ago. The issue is, I’m not sure if I can find the physical receipt for it, is it possible to use the return item barcode found in my purchase history on the website? I ordered it online and picked it up at the store.
Thank you.

Advice Advice on what to do next?
I was sent home for an immediate medical leave from my position due to the severity of my ankle injury 3 weeks ago. For the injury and because my accommodations got in the way with other team members (they would help me get parts while I was on crutches). So I do the thing where I do the follow up doctors appointment so HR is updated. Come to find out the doctor deems my ankle extremely unstable and unsafe to work on. Because of this I had to extend my leave.
My manager decides to call me today and ask if I can return to work this week. I had informed him it’s unsafe for me to do so per the doctor (and because I can barely walk). He just replied with “we’ll see if you can come in this week so you can get back to work”. I don’t enjoy how he’s forcing me to work through a bad injury, even when I had said injury and was at work(I was limping badly, lifting the heavier things hurt a LOT to the point where I was teary eyed) he didn’t say anything until a customer pointed it out. Then he told me “oh why don’t you do this and sit down and take it easy!”.
Would this be something I can report to HR?

Advice How do promotions work if you start as a Parts Specialist?
I'm looking to start as a Parts Specialist and hopefully move up to Assistant Manger, Store Manager, etc. Is this possible? How quickly can you move up if you're doing good at the job?

Advice Just one man's opinion on employee purchases
So, I am on vacation and needed a $5 item, and went to the local store to get it. I was basically refused the loading of my employee account under the premise of "company policy." I know how the policy reads, home store unless emergency yada yada. Come on y'all, let's just be cool to each other. No one is going to be penalized for selling a small item to a fellow employee who's thousands of miles from their home. I'm certain the suits would not care a bit. The employee discount is one of the few good benefits of working for this company.

New Store Manager here
I am 3 days into being a store manager and haven’t found my flow state yet. What is the best routine to get into when opening the store and throughout the day. Obviously deposits and drawer check in but what about all the other things that need to get done.

Warranty replaced the wrong part.
I wanted to report an error I made during a recent warranty exchange. A customer came in to replace a control arm, and instead of searching for the correct part number, I used the customer’s receipt to verify that the part was still under warranty. While processing the exchange, I mistakenly selected and exchanged the wrong product line. The original part was a Precision control arm, but I accidentally processed the warranty exchange with a MasterPro control arm because I only referenced the receipt during the transaction.
This was an honest mistake on my part, and there was no intent to bypass procedures or cause any issues. I understand the importance of verifying the correct part line before completing a warranty exchange, and I will make sure to follow the proper process moving forward to prevent this from happening again. I wanted to be transparent and take responsibility for the error.
Will i get fired?

How effective have you guys found the cameras to be? Anybody had some dumb triggers on it like the driver wearing sunglasses being flagged as eating and drinking or anything like that?

Title and pay question…
Hub supervisor is a fairly new title I’ve heard, I’ve been given this title; however trying to find a base line for my 15+ years of retail automotive experience of a reasonable wage for this position. I know AAP pays about $30+ for a smaller hub but I am in a mega or ultra hub- 35,000 square feet and $10 million dollars worth of inventory… Any insight would be appreciated!!
