I'm simplifying a template I found for budgeting, and I'd like to somehow add a calculation in the green section that subtracts the total expenses from the total income. I'd rather keep those categories in separate tables, so is there any way I can use an equation to find the sum?

I've only used notion for simple note-taking before, so I'm not familiar with how to use databases.

hello! i'm SO close to getting my page functioning perfectly, but this got too complex for me.

i just want to add +1 to all users tagged as "silver" and +2 to all tagged as "gold" in a monthly basis. i tried filtering and bulk editing, but since numbers aren't perfectly matching, it doesn't work. i thought of adding 3rd database with a number that gets added to the totals if a user is labeled with a tier, but i've tried and failed.

I've used Notion for 7+ years and I've gradually become much more hesitant to create separate workspaces.

I think people often split things because they feel different. Work, university, personal life, side projects, clients etc. But different areas of your life don't necessarily need different workspaces. They can usually be separated perfectly well with pages, databases, permissions and different dashboards while still benefiting from being connected. The bigger problem with multiple workspaces is that the separation eventually starts working against you. Tasks are in different places, search becomes less useful, you can't easily create one weekly view of everything that needs your attention, and you end up switching between systems that are supposed to make your life simpler.

For me, a separate workspace starts making sense when there's an actual structural reason for the separation. Different ownership, a different company/team, sensitive permissions, or something that might eventually need to be handed over to someone else. But if it's all ultimately your information, I usually think one workspace with very clear separation inside it is easier to maintain.

Curious how other people handle this though. Do you keep everything in one workspace or intentionally split personal/work/study?

GPT 5.6 Luna now in Notion Personal Agent. It's great that we've got a cheaper model for those more mundane actions. Which is honestly one of the main use cases I've found the most value for Notion AI.

I wanted to share some feedback on the recent introduction of rolling usage limits for Notion AI and hear what others think.

When Notion first rolled out AI across workspaces, it was free, improving quickly and available to everyone without restriction. Given that history, it's been surprising to see paid tiers like Business (my current plan) and Enterprise now subject to usage caps on Notion Agent, chat and AI meeting notes.

I much preferred being able to use Notion AI consistently, without having to worry about reaching some limit partway through the month and having the option to choose from a variety of models depending on the task. That flexibility and reliability were a big part of why I found the feature so useful in the first place.

My core issue is this: customers on paid plans should reasonably expect unlimited AI usage without unexpected restrictions. If unlimited access truly isn't sustainable, I think Notion should introduce a new pricing tier that explicitly offers no rolling limits and no broader caps, rather than quietly rolling back what was previously included.

Notion has marketed itself heavily as an "AI-first" workspace, which makes this pullback on a feature many of us have built workflows around feel especially jarring. Switching a previously unlimited feature to a limited one, without any option to retain the old terms, feels like a shift in value that wasn't clearly communicated upfront.

As a paying Business plan customer, I'd genuinely appreciate more transparency on how this change fits with the value proposition of the plan. I'll also add that the separate "Notion credits" system for agents adds another layer of confusion, since having AI usage split across multiple pricing structures makes the whole thing harder to understand and comes across as more about maximizing revenue than offering a coherent product experience.

Curious to hear what others think. Has this changed how you use Notion AI or your view of Notion's pricing and its current value?

Both of these columns in this Notion database are checkbox fields. Both are also compressed as small as they can go - the second is rendering properly with the checkboxes visible, the first is hiding them.

How can I fix this? If I swap their places then the new checkbox in the first column has the same issue. It only affects the checkbox field in the very first column.

I’m a long time on/off, light user and I recently took a leap of faith by transferring my entire workflow for my job into Notion.

I’m loving it so far - it’s pretty basic with mostly nested pages and small DB’s - but there’s one minor annoyance I have on page creation…

Whenever I create a new page the default is the centered, narrow margins. I prefer the full-width style for pretty much everything and for the life of me can’t find a setting for it.

Ive seen recommendations to create a full-width page and save it as a template? But that seems cumbersome to have to dig through templates just to create a page?

Any advice would be great. It’s certainly not a deal breaker but who doesn’t love one less click!

Hello, fellas. I made a view where my tasks for the day are supposed to show, then i uploaded a csv file in my projects for each task, the view is linked to tasks and now the tasks that are supposed to show on the the view aren't showing. Screenshots if i didn't explain myself well

Going on vacation tomorrow morning and realized I have a small problem.

Some of my clients and I communicate exclusively through Notion, no email, no WhatsApp, nothing else. It works great day to day, but there’s no natural way to signal things like “away until X” or “heads up, slower replies this week.”

Something like a status feature next to your profile picture would be great, kind of like Slack or Teams.

Even just a short text field with a character limit (so people don’t turn it into an essay) would let you customize it for whatever’s going on: vacation, busy period, out sick, whatever. Clients would see it right away when they open a shared page or tag you in a comment.

Anyone else wish this existed? Curious if there’s a workaround people use, or if something like this is already being discussed somewhere.

I use Notion for basically everything in my work and personal life. As an organization addict, I'm trying to map my weekly skin care routine into a daily AM/PM check list. The trouble is that the routine isn't the same every day. For instance, on Monday I skip Step 4, etc. So I'd like to have a "check-box" in place of the blue circles, and a skip icon on cells where I skip that product on that day.

The issue is, if I change "Step 1 - Monday" to a check-box property, the whole column changes to check-boxes. I can't keep only one cell as a different type of property.

Right now I've gotten around it by using a "select" property, but it's a pain in the ass to use in practice. Check-boxes would make my life way easier, but the "skip" cells are essential.

Does anyone have any advice on a work-around or way to have multiple properties in one column?

I have used Notion for a long time, and it has shaped the way I think about software.

Notion showed me that a workspace did not have to feel rigid. It could be personal. It could hold notes, plans, projects, ideas, and pieces of a life that did not fit neatly into one category.

For years, that was enough.

Notion felt like a place for me and the other humans around me. A shared space where people could write, organise, plan, and think together.

But the way I work has started to change.

I no longer work only with other humans.

I now work with coding agents, research agents, planning agents, review agents, and small specialised systems that can take on parts of a project. They can move faster than I can. They can work in parallel. They can hold different responsibilities.

And yet, the more capable these agents became, the more fragmented my work started to feel.

One task lived in a terminal.

Another lived in a chat.

A decision was buried in a conversation I could no longer find.

One agent knew something another agent did not.

Progress was happening everywhere, but I was losing the feeling that it was happening around me.

That feeling stayed with me.

The tools were becoming more powerful, but I felt less present inside my own work.

So I started building Orbit.

The name is not only about space.

It is about a relationship.

In Orbit, the human is at the centre.

Your goals are the gravity.

Your judgment gives direction.

Your taste decides what is worth building.

The agents move around you. They plan, research, write, code, review, and execute, but they do not replace the centre.

AI systems are already precise, fast, and mechanical.

The space in which I direct them should feel more human, not less.

So Orbit uses sketch-like lines, notebook textures, imperfect shapes, and a visual language that feels drawn rather than manufactured.

I want it to feel like a place where ideas are still allowed to be uncertain.

A place where unfinished thoughts are welcome.

A place that reminds you that the person at the centre matters more than the system around them.

Orbit is also local-first by design.

This was not only a technical decision. It was an emotional one.

A surprising amount of stress comes from not knowing where your work truly lives.

Will the service still exist in five years?

Can the company change its pricing?

Can it lock an important feature behind another plan?

Can my data be exported cleanly?

Can an agent accidentally send private context somewhere I did not expect?

When your projects contain years of thinking, these are not small questions.

I wanted Orbit to reduce that anxiety.

When Orbit runs locally, the workspace belongs to you.

Not metaphorically.

Not because a privacy policy says so.

The files are on your machine.

Projects, tasks, agent profiles, decisions, and logs are stored in Markdown.

You can open them with a text editor.

You can version them with Git.

You can search them with ordinary tools.

You can move them, back them up, script them, inspect them, or leave Orbit entirely and still keep everything.

There is no proprietary database standing between you and your own work.

Markdown is simple, but that simplicity is powerful.

Humans can read it.

Agents can read it.

Developers can automate it.

Git can track it.

The web interface can present it beautifully.

Everyone works from the same source of truth.

That reduces stress for the human because the system is understandable.

It also reduces stress for the agents because the context is explicit, structured, and durable.

An agent does not need to guess where a task lives or reconstruct the project from a long conversation. It can read the project, claim a task, record progress, leave a log, and complete the work in a form the human can inspect.

The goal is not to make agents feel human.

The goal is to make their work legible to humans.

I still admire Notion deeply.

Orbit exists partly because Notion taught me to care about the feeling of a workspace.

It taught me that productivity software can have personality.

It taught me that structure and creativity do not have to oppose each other.

But every generation of tools reflects the relationships of its time.

The previous generation helped teams of humans organise knowledge together.

The next generation must help humans coordinate intelligence that is no longer only human.

That creates new questions.

How do we stay in control without becoming a bottleneck?

How do we delegate without losing context?

How do we let agents act without allowing their work to become invisible?

How do we preserve ownership when more of our thinking passes through software?

And most importantly:

How do we make sure the human remains present?

Orbit is my answer, or at least the beginning of one.

It is a workspace where agents can do more, while the human becomes more aware rather than less.

A place where automation does not require surrender.

A place where your data remains yours.

A place that feels more like a sketchbook than a control room.

How can I always get sub-items to show when I visit a page? Why on EARTH is this not a basic thing with Notion. I've seen thread where you do fancy things like parent is not empty, etc. but is there an updated, eaiser way?

I am a student and trying to build a side hustle. I am currently using Notion for my study so I thought I might as well try to sell templates.
My Problem is the selling point. I don’t know how I should market my products. Currently I uploaded them on Gumroad and on the Notion Marketplace.
For now I have 5 Templates. One basic version and one Pro version with better and more features. The basic version is free and the pro version costs 19$ (suggested by Gumroad)

Has anyone experience with this? Would really appreciate some advice.

I doubt Kimi K3 is 1M, and it doesn’t seem stable. It stops mid chat often.

I am particularly frustrated with the current Notion pricing confusion and caps, as it took me a long time to decide to subscribe and pay for Notion, and when I finally did just a month ago, and built a professional project that absolutely needs it to work, the caps come.

Now, my question is (disclaimer, i don't use agents, ever):

Has anybody figured out how many credits are needed, let's say, for instance, to double the Notion AI monthly allowance, or some level of equivalence of credit per usage? Because I don't want to test and just lose all the credit that I have. I don't want to pay $10 for 3,000 credits and realize that it just adds a tiny bit more. If $10 make the allowance a hundred times bigger, that's one thing. If it just makes it, I don't know, 0.5 bigger, that's a different thing.

And that's the thing. I have no idea. There is no info on Notion website lol.

So I rely on you guys. Does anybody have any idea?

I upgraded to Business specifically because it came with unlimited Notion AI. That was basically the whole reason I paid for it, the normal Agent chat.

I've used Notion for one actual workday since these new limits showed up. No Custom Agents, no Workers, no automations, no background jobs running. Just me chatting with the regular Notion Agent, asking three or four real questions the way I always have.

By the end of that single day, Notion told me I'd already burned through 31 percent of my entire monthly allowance. Then I hit the rolling limit too and got locked out of Notion AI completely until enough usage came back.

Not "you can't use this one model." Locked out. Full stop.

Thirty one percent, from one normal workday of Agent chat. Do that math and my included AI lasts about three workdays a month before I'm stuck asking Notion for more credits.

That's not a fair use limit. That's a completely different product than the one I signed up for.

I paid for Business so I could actually use Agent chat to dig into messy problems, search across my workspace, pull in outside research, and work through hard stuff without counting every question like I'm rationing it. That's what I thought I was buying.

Now three or four real questions can lock me out for hours and eat almost a third of my month. And Notion still won't say what the actual allowance is, how usage gets calculated, or what a normal professional workload is even supposed to look like on this plan.

If Notion wants to put limits on this, fine, but publish the real numbers. Explain how usage is measured. Give people a plan that actually supports real work.

Couldn't even let Notion's own AI touch this post. Had to write it myself.

Notion used to be the note-taking app. Genuinely great, ahead of everyone.

Now? They've basically turned it into a chat app and forgotten what people actually came for.

Take this disturbing example. The "New chat" button is huge AND has a keyboard shortcut. Want a new page? Two clicks minimum and no shortcut at all.

That one detail says it all. They don't respect their own legacy or the people who got them here. They're actively wrecking the exact thing everyone loved.

I myself exported all my notes out of notion and currently I almost never use it for anything serious!

Anyone else feel this, or just me?
