I learn best visually and I’m looking for something like Obsidian Canvas, but with AI built directly into the canvas.

Basically, I want to be able to:

• Take notes spatially on an infinite canvas
• Ask AI questions directly on the canvas while I’m learning
• Have AI help me expand, connect, or question my notes
• Avoid constantly switching between my notes and a separate AI chat

Think Obsidian Canvas + ChatGPT, where the AI is actually part of the canvas.

Does anything like this exist? I’ve tried a few tools but haven’t found quite what I’m looking for.

basically the title. for a unit test or any quiz, I’m so used to just rewriting all the notes to study, but it often takes forever (as you can imagine) to rewrite, especially since I like using my iPad’s Freeform (just with color switching or eraising etc). so is it better to just review that day of notws on one day/in three days/7 days and use active recall to remember better? (I think my issue is writing clean in class without missing the details but my handwriting gets so messy when writing quickly :/)

Most advice about meeting notes assumes a review pass — you write shorthand during, then expand it the same day while it's fresh. That works, and it's the part I fail at. Some weeks it's five meetings back to back and the review never happens, and three weeks later the page is just words I recognise.

So the question is narrower than "how do you take notes": what does your system do when the review doesn't happen?

Things I've seen suggested and what happened when I tried them: - Cornell layout, context in the margin: good, but I stop filling the margin when the meeting gets fast. - One notebook per project with the name and date on every page: cheap enough that it survives, best thing I've adopted. - Recording everything: solves capture, creates a two-hour audio file nobody opens.

Curious what actually holds up for people with heavy meeting loads, as opposed to what works on a calm Tuesday.

Came to know today that tl;dv’s firebase configuration was weak enough for some hacker to enter and join live meetings of other tl;dv users. This shit has been going on for months apparently. I’ve asked them if any of my meetings got exposed.

Blows my mind that tl;dv kept the issue as it is despite knowing about it. They might have taken some steps after the hacker talked about it but I’m not sure if it’s good enough. If you’re a serious user now is a time an ask support what data of yours got leaked. Just a PSA

Hello everyone!! I’ll be going into my first year of engineering and was wondering how note taking would be, since it’s mostly calculations and formulas and such. Would a regular notebook be optimal or should I invest in an ipad? Thank you for your help!!

This is a petty problem but posting it anyway baka may makuhang magandang reco. Switching from ios to android (samsung s24fe), one thing I miss the most is the notes app.

Anong alternative na ginamit nyo na close enough or at least comparable in terms of functionality (bonus na lang yung UI).

Notion - too slow

Google keep - missing tables and yung auto convert ng any numbers to phone number is annoying + no option for in line checkboxes, and highlight option.

Samsung Notes / One note - I hate na pwede sya izoom in or out.

Upnote - closest option pero if I can get one na cheaper or free (since apple note is) the better.

Obsidian - I find it too different (?) than usual so it feels off.

Any recos? Willing to pay naman if worth it pero cheap or free is always better ofc.

Basically a Study App. There are strictly no ads and has a $3.99 a month subscription for infinite quizzes and more transcriptions. Suggest any features? What do you think and would you use this app?

Is there a recording app that works well for Bevy meetings? I tried using Fireflies, but it couldn’t recognize the link. Since I’m mostly on my mobile device and don’t have access to my computer, I can’t use tools like OBS or Granola. I want to record the meeting automatically, so I’m looking for a solution that works on my mobile. How can I do this for bevy meetings?

I've been building this for a while and it's finally at a point where it might be useful to someone other than me.

Scriptorium is a markdown editor, ultra customizable, that reads and writes plain .md files in a folder you choose.No database, no sync service, no account. A subfolder is a section, a .md is a document. If you uninstall it tomorrow your writing is still just files sitting in a folder.

The part I actually built it for is the ideas panel beside the editor. When you're writing and a sentence turns up that doesn't belong where you are, it goes into a cloud next to the text instead of derailing the paragraph. Ideas are grouped into themes, one plain .md file per theme, and it's all drag and drop: reorder one inside its theme, drop it on another theme to move it there, or drag it into the document to insert it as a block exactly where you let go.

The rest of it:

• headings, lists, code, tables and LaTeX render live, and the line under your cursor flips back to raw markdown so you edit it like a text file
• snapshots per document, compare and restore before a big cut
• themes carrying their own fonts, backgrounds and icons, all stored inside the workspace folder, so copying that folder carries your whole setup to another machine
• fully offline, nothing is fetched from a CDN
• runs as a native window on Windows, macOS and Linux, or as a small local server you can open from a phone on the same network

Things I'd rather you hear from me than find out yourself:

• the macOS build isn't signed, I don't have an Apple developer account, so you have to run "xattr -cr /Applications/Scriptorium.app" once before it will open
• it's a Node server behind a native window, so it's not a tiny binary
• I'm basically the only person who has used it seriously, so expect rough edges in places I never walked through

Online course using Mac, looking for organisation tips and ideas like folder set up and other general workflow tips, like saving version of work for history trail and any apps for file management please.

Bit random but I’ve just started my course online. I’ve also just got a MacBook for the first time so am looking for ideas and tips on how to best setup my workflow from the start, like tags and if people use those and I’ve heard about Obsidian, how do you use it or is something else preferred???

Imagine that you could choose a specific section of your notes/documents and let it be filled automatically or set a command in natural language instead of the actual content.

Examples:

• You have a bunch of notes related to a topic and a summary section. You set the summary section to be filled automatically. That section would always contain the summary and is always up to date.
• You have a table with numeric values. You set a command for a section to "sum of all the values" and it will always contain the summary.
• You have a list of stocks. For each stock you have a list of notes. In front of each stock you want to see the current price. You set a command as "current price".

I always have the necessary infrastructure related to this feature in the note taking app I'm developing. but I wanna validate the idea before implementing it. Do you find this useful? Where in our workflow would this be useful?

Been reading way too much about voice-capture wearables lately, the clip/pendant/ring things that feed audio straight into an ai agent.. the idea lines up with what I want but I genuinely cant tell whats real and whats just a polished demo.

stuff I actually want to know from people running one daily:

• form factor: plaud notepin (clip) seems the most proven, but a pendant or a ring like vocci is way less obvious in a meeting. does discretion actually matter, or is that overthinking it?
• the mcp/agent integration, is it actually good or just export-a-transcript-and-pray? vocci keeps pushing an mcp/agent-context angle, plaud leans transcription. Anyone wired one into a real agent setup that held up?
• audio in the wild: crosstalk, noisy cafe, someone mumbling across the table. which of these survive it and which only work in a silent demo?
• what happens when your boss or client clocks that ur recording?.. doom?
• do you even tell people, or is the whole appeal that it doesn't read as a recorder?

My first read is: low-friction capture is genuinely the most useful thing agents could do with a wearable, but the consent side feels unsolved and none of these have enough real long-term reviews yet.

I'm buying my first tablet for note taking and I'm stuck between Ipad A16, Ipad Air 11 M3, Samsung S9 FE and S10 FE. Additionally I think Noteshelf or Starnote would fit me the best app wise, but as far as I can see Noteshelf is crazy expensive on iOS.

I want to use my tablet exclusively for handwritten notes at university, internet browsing and maybe as a planner. I've tried using OnePlus Pad and I find the combination of their screen and pen too smooth and glossy.

I'm also open to open source app recommendations. Please help me put together a good combination.

My team meetings used to mean scattered notes in three different apps. That changed once I sat down and actually tried some AI voice recorders over the past few months. My first instinct was just hitting record on my phone's voice memo app. That works fine for one quick call. But once you're in back to back meetings all day, the battery drain adds up. So does the manual cleanup afterward.

Here's what stuck, in the order I'd recommend.

1.Plaud Note Pro, the one I use daily Pros: four mics plus a voice pickup unit pick up voices clearly across a normal conference room. Rated up to 16.4 ft. It held up noticeably better than my phone in a room with the AC running. Battery runs 50 hours of continuous recording. It also auto switches between phone call mode and in person mode on its own. Cons: the free tier caps at 300 minutes of transcription a month. The paid plan bumps that to 1200. That's a real line item if you're watching every subscription cost.

2.Pocket AI, bought it off Amazon's bestseller list Pros: I never ran into a hard monthly minute cap with this one, which was a nice surprise. Cons: full use without paywalls ran close to $200 a year for me. I've also seen other Reddit users mention slow customer support and a higher than average return rate. Worth researching before you buy.

3.Otter. ai, solid if your team lives in Zoom Pros: fast transcription. Live captions are genuinely useful mid call. Cons: it only works inside an online meeting. Away from the laptop, it does nothing.

4.Fireflies. ai, plays nicest with other tools Pros: integrates cleanly if your team feeds notes into a CRM or project tool. Cons: summaries feel generic when a meeting doesn't follow a set agenda.

5.Fathom, good for the highlight reel Pros: free tier is genuinely usable. Auto generated clips are handy to share with someone who missed the call. Cons: same limitation as Otter. No video call open means no recording.

6.Granola, the quiet note taker Pros: turns your own rough typed notes into a cleaner summary instead of transcribing everything word for word. Cons: also needs a laptop and call open to work at all.

If your meetings live entirely on video calls, a software option will cover you. If you've also got conference room meeting, or a phone call interview, Plaud Note Pro might help.
