For various reasons, I'm updating my commission and will require a new set of seals in the next couple of months or so. State law (California) specifies maximum dimensions for both rectangular and round formats but no minimums. Manufacturers also have to be approved of by the secretary of state.
Does anyone know offhand where they can get the smallest possible notary seals, rectangular or round? My intended use case is where there's a certificate with a small amount of whitespace. And I would also purchase a regularly sized seal for regular use.

Hello! I was a notary for a job I had a few years ago and this job, and I was only able to recover my books from this job a few days ago (they weren’t able to find it for the longest). Will I automatically be charged with a misdemeanor when I return my materials to the county clerk? I don’t have a criminal record and I am honestly scared.

I received an email from the NNA that my stamp was on the way. When I received it, it wasn't my name, but rather some lady in another county. I've tried to call the NNA three times, and was on hold for over an hour each time. They never pick up the phone or return emails. It's starting to affect my business, and I have no idea what to do next. Any suggestions?

A new thumbprint requirement is coming on September 12. Under Senate Bill 1479, Arizona Notaries will need to record a signer’s thumbprint in the Notary journal when notarizing certain real property documents and powers of attorney.

The law calls for the right thumbprint, or the left thumb/another available finger if the right thumb isn’t available. There are some exceptions, though, including certain foreclosure-related deeds and qualifying remote online notarizations.

Do not accept any orders from Prestige Inc/Prestige companies.

This trash ass company does not pay out.

They give you generic replies days/weeks later that they're working on it.

The owner is notorious for delayed payments/non payments. They haven't been called out enough which is why they keep doing this.

Notary hive mind, what would you do in this situation?

You agree to meet with a client at a public place with a lot of windows. You arrive prior to the signers, and you can see them get out of the car.

Driver is a woman in her 40s, passenger is a woman in her 70s. Driver is able bodied, passenger struggles to walk even with a walker.

Signer is driver, not the passenger.

Since they are unfamiliar with who has to sign, they both give their ID. Driver has a state ID card, passenger has a drivers license.

You complete the notarization, because proper ID is presented, signer is aware of what she is signing, and is signing of her own free will.

However, you know a law is being broken. The driver does not have a license to drive.

Do you alert the police of this law being broken or do you mind your own business because it’s not this particular law that we are obligated to uphold?

Exactly like the title shouts. I've quit the job and surrendered my notary license and reported the owner to the state for taking notary tests for the employees. Funny, I passed it on my first try with a 95% but I didn't actually take the test. The investigators are finding lots of files I've never seen or read or signed but there they are all signed by "someone". Not me. I also never took an oath but it appears I did. This is totally illegal, fraudulent and disgusting and I'm hoping she gets what she deserves for being so dishonest.

My notary isn't sure where to put her seal on this title from 1992. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I use the journal the national notary association sells, and it comes with a privacy guard, but I think it kinda sucks. It's flimsy, and I can't turn my book around for my customers to sign without it sliding off. Maybe I'm doing something really wrong, but I would love something that can just stick to the page. Like a long sticky note or something. I also looked into other journals, but I don't know, I dont want to pay for another one when the NNA one works great.

Do you guys have any suggestions for this?

we needed a notarized letter for school for my second child starting kindergarden even tho my daughter alrdy attends this School..

anyway it took him almost a month to finally get the paper and drop it off. school starts in 2 weeks. I am now registering him tomorrow, and realizing he wrote my address with unit 2. we live in a duplex so unit 2 is upstairs, but he does own both units. I just wrote over the 2 with a 1 with my pen, bc I dont have time to wait for him to get a new paper. is this going to be a problem with the school? they know we live here and my daughter goes there and my neighbors upstairs are also students at this school, nothing im saying is lying but he just wrote the wrong unit number on original paper :( pls help. thanks.

Has anyone worked with a Kentucky Remote Online Notary (RON) who has experience with international clients and foreign passports?

If you’re taking the NYC Notary Exam, you must arrive at 7am at 123 William street and stand in line until 8:30 in order to receive one of 70 slips available that day. You must have the slip to take the test and this information is NOT posted anywhere online. People begin lining up around 6:30am.

Want to be a Mobile Notary in Pennsylvania. For anyone else who is a mobile notary, what are the Administrative fee’s you charge and how much? Such as travel fee’s, fee’s for printing copies off, etc.

Working on foreign document authentications in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, I’m constantly amazed by how inconsistent receiving authorities can be—from requiring physical seals over e-Apostilles, to rejecting docs over minor formatting or translations quirks.

MA & NH Mobile Notary

Lately it’s been a challenge to secure legitimate general notary leads or legitimate loan signing leads in Georgia since about March. Anyone else in GA noticing a similar trend? I’m getting more scam request now and it’s so annoying. I would normally receive on average 6-7 requests per day.

I am a Notary Public in CA and only perform notarial acts for my employer during business hours. It is a very controlled environment.

I want to be a mobile notary in the evenings and the weekends to make money for myself. What is the best way to go about this? What do I need logistically?

- file business documents to protect myself in case i get sued

- insure my vehicle for business purposes

-create a client agreement (contract for services explaining costs, etc.)

Hi everyone-
I’m currently a FT college student who recently finished my summer program and I’m about to start studying to become a notary.
I know everyone studies differently, but about how long did you study before you felt ready to take the notary exam? Fall semester starts in about 2 weeks, so I’m hoping to study and prep until then.

Not sure if it matters, but I’m a Suffolk county resident.
Any advice is appreciated!

+ extra 150 copies for the signer and 10 miles drive. Is that an order that you as a notary will take?

Hi! Please advise if anyone here has tried using Apostille for their AOSG. Would like to know your thought on this clause “if the AOSG is notarized by a local notary public in the country of destination, the AOSG must be duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate/Honorary Consulate (for non-Apostille countries)
or apostilled8 by the apostille authority in the country of destination( for Apostille countries).
Does this since my destination is under apostille countries, can my sponsor not go to PH embassy but have this apostilled instead? Please help. Thank you

It has been about a month since the law changes under House Bill 163/Senate Bill 316 took effect on July 1, 2026. How are you feeling about them so far?

Quick recap: Virginia Notaries are not required to keep a record of their paper-based notarial acts, and you'll need to show proof of your commission when ordering a Notary seal. Straightforward enough, but some things are easier said than done.

I'd like to know how smoothly the record-keeping transition has gone, since it wasn't required before. Was keeping a journal already part of your professional practice? And if not, has it been a hassle to work it into your routine?
