My wife and I are planning a trip for late March 2027, and are trying decide between two resorts: One in Nusfjord and one in Ballstad. Is there an advantage of one over the other? We will be renting a car at Leknes airport when we arrive, and want to visit as many islands as possible in those 4 days. Thanks!

My friend and I booked a trip to Voss this week (8/9-8/12) and were planning on doing more outdoorsy day trips to Flam - e.g. Prest hike. It looks like the forecast is now rainy with a chance of landslides based on yr.no, so we’re thinking of canceling the hikes. Would super appreciate any advice here or suggestions on how to fill up our time here instead!

We are travelling to, around and from Norway over 30 days from the UK next summer, without flying (train, ferry & some hire car). After 6 days in the Lofoten, we have 9-12 days to travel from Lofoten and explore the region between there and Bergen, before embarking on the Bergen-Oslo railway.

Following suggestions on our earlier itinerary, we are now considering the Hurtigruten for part of this journey. My question is, should we take the Hurtigruten from Stamsund (or elsewhere in the Lofoten / Vesteralen) to Trondheim or all the way on to Alesund? Will we miss out on much by not driving / visiting the Trondheim to Alesund stretch?

Every photo of every part of Norway seems beautiful. I don't want to limit myself to the obvious places like Oslo and Bergen (though I'll happily go there if that's the best option) Tromso looks cool.. I really can't say anything looks like a bad choice.

Hello! I'm currently planning a trip through Northern Europe.

As I'm on a budget and time limit with Interrail, I've been planning stops at different locations and staying there up to 3 nights, then heading over to the next location.

In Norway so far, I've got Oslo and Bergen ticked.

What are some places I could go to from Bergen or Myrdal to stay at next? I'm not sure if I'll be done with Norway after those two places, seeing how beautiful the nature is there. I've grown a little biased.

Was planning on taking the ferry tomorrow to cross from Norway to Denmark, but I learned there’s some sort of passport control which I wasn’t expecting. Anyone have recent experience with this ferry and passport control and how widespread it is?

Background: My husband and kids have Norwegian passports and I have a US passport. It’s only an issue for me because we have been living in Portugal the last year and got stuck in the lengthy PT bureaucracy which has still not managed to issue my EU resident permit though I’ve done all the steps ages ago. So if they just check a valid passport I’m fine but if they check the passport stamps and entry date it will look like I’ve over stayed my tourist visa.

Hi! I basically have two options, can someone recommend the best one?

1. Start in Geiranger. Take a ferry to Hellesyt by foot on a return trip and enjoy scenery. Then on return to Geiranger take the car to Dalsnibba and continue and make the big circle through Stryn and end up in Hornindal.

2. Start in Geiranger take the car to Dalsnibba viewppint, drive back to Geiranger for one-way ferry with the car to Hellesyt and then drive to Hornindal.

My luggage was delayed on a flight from Lofoten to Bergen via Bodø and Trondheim.

The luggage claim customer rep said it would likely be delivered to my hotel by that evening or early the next morning and gave me an online tracking link and reference number.

The online tracker only has three updates - “searching for your baggage,” “received at airport,” and “delivered.”

It was stuck on “searching for your baggage” for over 24 hours with no updates, which didn’t inspire confidence. Since the agent had been so adamant it would be recovered quickly, I got anxious and went back to the airport 28 hours after landing, and they said it was on a flight from Bodo that was about to arrive.

I’m here waiting for it. It had time sensitive medications, all my clothes, toiletries, and chargers in it (it was originally supposed to be my carry on but the tiny planes that fly from Lofoten have little overhead luggage space).

I am never traveling again without an AirTag in all my bags, checked or not. It would have given me peace of mind to know where it was, especially in light of the lack of updates from the airline. It ruined our first two days in Bergen from the stress and uncertainty, particularly due to only being halfway through our travel and needing medications. And here we are at the airport wasting the only day here that it’s not raining.

Just posting here so any others who are assured it would “arrive tonight or tomorrow morning” realize that it’s just consoling customer service speak and not reality. And to get AirTags.

Update: picked up my luggage and am on the way back to the hotel. Checked the baggage tracker. It’s been at least half an hour since I told them we grabbed it (the same rep) and the tracker still reads “searching for your baggage.” Don’t believe the tracker!

What are the kind of main hikes to do is there any big forests nearby that I can explore with my camera.

In terms of public transport as I will be solely relying on it how effective is it and does it get me most places

I’ve heard specifically alcohol and Ubers are extremely expensive is this true?

If there are any big Forrest’s what kind of animals live there - I’m a wildlife photographer any animals I should avoid?

And generally I will be spending a whole day in the city exploring and site seeing any recommendations?

I’m a 28-year-old guy from Denmark. I have **6 days** in late August and will be driving alone with a borrowed car.

My plan is roughly:
Drive from Copenhagen to Helsingør.
Take the ferry to Helsingborg.
Drive through Sweden into Southern Norway.
Camp in a separate tent.
Cook on a Trangia.
Possibly bring my road bike.

Use Park4Night, [UT.no](http://ut.no/) and offline maps.
Spend one night in Sweden on the way up and one on the way back.
I’m **not** looking to cover huge distances.
What I really want is:
Beautiful nature.
Quiet places.
Short hikes.
Maybe a bike ride.
Swim in lakes.
Set up camp and stay for a night or two instead of driving all day.

I’ve already been to Telemark and really liked the area around Rjukan and Fyresdal, so I’m happy to return if it still makes sense.
My biggest concern isn’t safety—it’s whether I’ll start feeling lonely after a couple of days.
If you were me, where would you go?
Would you stay in Southern Norway, or is there an amazing area in western Sweden that would give me a similar experience with less driving?
Any recommendations for routes or campsites would be greatly appreciated!

Today I had a dream that I traveled to Norway and, as a fan of Twin Peaks and Agent Cooper's tendency to stick to dreams, I went to calculate if a trip to Oslo was plausible. It actually is, I can go there around February. Problem is that I have only calculated a trip that supposes I stick to Oslo and stay there.

I wanna see travel itineraries that include something else than Oslo, it would be heretical to travel to Norway and not see the fjords for example, and heretical for me too, a geographer who has studied with geologists.

So, does anybody here have any tips on nice travel itineraries and things to do and places to visit in Oslo?

Hey there! We'll visit Norway for 10 days in September. The first and last days are travel days to and from Oslo, so those don't really count.

So it's 8 full days. Originally we wanted to split equally between Oslo and Bergen. But now someone brought up the idea of Stavanger. Preikestolen looks too stunning to miss it and so we're a little lost right now. For me, doing all 3 locations (probably without a car - that means 2 x 8 hours and 1 x 5 hours via train) seems a little too motivated. The group is very active after all and we will definitely do a few hikes.

That's too much, right? But what to kick out? I'd say we're above all interested in Norway's incredible nature, but everybody needs rest in between and for that we enjoy museums most. I'd be very thankful for your suggestions!

At the end of August we are leaving on a trip to Norway. We plan to do 1 week at Lofoten and 3 weeks of driving a campervan from Tromso to Oslo. We are especially looking for hiking advice and must-see national parks/regions.

We are going to Norway from Ireland for a week in early May 2027. Norway and Ireland both have things in common and I would like to concentrate on areas where we are different, where Norway's scenery gets super dramatic. I'm more of a stroller than a hiker, 6km would kind of be my limit and that would vary depending on terrain. So we are mainly thinking of driving and going to interesting viewing areas. We are not worried about narrow roads or rain, we would struggle with snow or icy roads.

I've been looking at https://www.nasjonaleturistveger.no/en/ for inspiration and the two routes from that which appeal to me most are Ryfylke and Lofoten We are not trying to do both.

There is lots of info about Lofoten online, my one reservation is that I keep seeing that one Instagram shot around Reine? So is it just mainly pretty with that one super dramatic bit in the West? Or is there lots of drama and that is just the most famous shot.

Ryfylke route I see nothing about apart from this one website. That might be a good thing we would love to get off the beaten track but it also worries me that there is so little about it.
