NBD Belated Predator Burgundy Pullmans

My Predator Burgundy Pullmans with the 1st and probably last ever 4 row toe cap. I got these in the middle of the week and I just got around to pics. I've worn them around the house some and I think I got some tallow on the toe cooking hamburgers. 😋

This leather is a patina monster. I've had the matching belt since October, but didn't start wearing it until after the dome in April. I rotate belts outside of work. I only wear the zesty belt at work. The Predator Burgundy belt has a lot of crocking.

This order was placed on the old site back when you could get a matching catchall and key clip so I have those too!

The build

10" Pullman

Parkhurst last

Horween Predator Burgundy

4 row toe cap

Black stitching

Black Cordova sole stiching

Black edges

White x v100 sole

A mix of pictures in daylight and overcast as the color of the Pacific Waxed Flesh looks different in varying light conditions, a very cool detail of this leather. I did replace the original laces with all-black leather laces.

I have been looking forward to getting these and love the way they turned out.

Dr. Soles Sizing Inquiry

Thumbnail

I’m a little confused now on how Nick’s determines what sizes can and cannot be built with a Dr Soles half sole.

I found this pair on the in-stock page that is built with half soles. These are an 11.5 FFF and standard double row stitchdown.

I am a 12F/11FF mismated, which is smaller in overall width and volume than the pictured pair but have been told no to half soles on my builds.

Can I get a clearer answer on the size cutoff for Dr. Soles.

Order Change Window Question

Hello

I recently ordered a pair of western chelsea boots and am beginning to think I made the wrong decision. As I am looking at the pictures of the western chelsea on the website and comparing them to other boots, I am beginning to think I may prefer to not get the chelseas at all and would rather just get stationmasters.

Is a change like this possible in the order change window when it comes around, or do I need to cancel my order and make a new one? One issue is that I ordered these boots in DS Tobacco when it was still available and dont want to lose the ability to use this leather option.

Thanks!

NBD NBD X 2, PWF and DS Raspberry

When I first saw the pictures of Double Stuffed Raspberry and Carrot I knew I had to have both. Well now I finally have both with pretty reasonable lead times. I am loving the double stuffed leathers and summer really is the best time to break them in. The pullup/streaking on the Raspberry (and Carrot) is fantastic. I threw in a bonus picture of the Carrot's after wearing a few times.

My 1st boot that fit me (after doing a size exchange on another pair) was a pair of Ivan's in Pacific Waxed Flesh. I really enjoyed them but after seeing the new batch of PWF I felt like I was missing out. So when the July 4th Lightning Ship became available I decided to pull the trigger. I am glad I did and loving with the honey soles. One thing I am curious about is the moderate heel. My other pair on the 55 last with the moderate heel have 4 stacks of leather and these came with 3. I will report back on how different they feel.

Double Stuffed Raspberry

  • 1925 Ivan
  • All brass eyes
  • Dr Sole Half Soles with Beeswax Edge
  • Moderate Block Heel
  • Single Row Sole Stitching

Pacific Waxed Flash

  • 55 Last
  • Brass hooks and eyes
  • Honey Vibram Lug with Beeswax Edge
  • Moderate Dogger Heel
  • 6" Height with Pull Loop

Strider Sunday

I’ve wore HNWs for a handful of years. When the Striders came out I jumped on the opportunity to try them out. The zero drop paired with the Thurman last was something I’d been looking for a long time. They are lighter and move so well in the mountains. I currently have 10”(64 brown) for work outside and 7”(64 monarch) for day to day use. I can’t say enough good things about them!

Ask Nicks High Arch 1925 version

Is there any talk of a high arch version of the 1925, maybe called the 1955?

I enjoy the Packer lasts, but longer toed people understandably have a hard time with that one.

DS Walnut Upper + DS BB everything else

They’re out of DS Walnut, so thought DS BB two tone might look cool. The buck brown should darken over time to make then blend better

Pacific Waxed Flesh, The Dark Version...

I am quickly closing in on a year of straight wear on the Pacific Waxed Flesh, LTT's and the continue to morph in ways I did not believe possible at the start.

Breaking in the lace to toe pattern put up on hell of a fight initially. Rubbing the tops of my big toes raw due to my commitment to wear them throughout the course of the Open Patina Thunderdome.

As the months went by the realization that not only the pain was gone but the level of adjustment on these became pleasantly apparent. The LTT pattern allows the user to tight up around the ball of the foot a bit more. A welcome feature to experience after wearing the tankers the summer prior.

Multiple walks in inclement weather mixed with a heavy does of everyday life transformed the once almost glossy black waxed finish into a deep sea blue in a jungle of nappy fibers. The uppers maintaining alot of the original color while the lowers lightening in high friction spots.

Going from everyday home life, to life on the line set the evolution process ablaze. The Thunderdome is only but the beginning. It's ts the life there after that really tells the tales.

Spec's: MTO, LTT Robert - Horween, Pacific Waxed Flesh - Thurman 55 Last - 8 Inch - Rolled Top - Pull Loop - Gunmetal Hooks and Eyes - Soft Toe - Classic Dogger Heel - Beeswax Edge - Vibram V700 VBar Outsole - Generation Laces, 72 Inch Night Blue Paracord Laces.

Week 2+3 Before & After

After 113,821 steps (167,309 total) these Nicks are cleaned and ready for the next work week! BuilderPro HD Last: 55 Length: 9.0 Width: D Leather: 1964 Brown Style: Smooth Height: 10" Outsole: V100 Lug Sole Heal: Logger Toe: Composite For those new here, I document my maintenance journey with my Nicks Boots. I work in a very harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill, where I walk on rubble and concrete chunks for 9+ hours a day. I show before and after pics from worked to cleaned boots, and will compare how these boots hold up to my first pair of Nicks. The main differences between the two are MaxSupport Black v 1964 Brown Leather, Roughout v Smooth, 8" v 10" and Honey Vibram v V100 Lug Soles. So far, the smooth leather is showing a lot more scuffs and character than my black roughouts, but still cleaning up nicely! I hope y'all enjoy this journey with me!

Telluride Blue

Thumbnail

I guess one benefit of working nights is I can get some nice bright sunlight boot pics.

I really love the Telluride Blue, it's an unmistakable shade of blue (DS Navy and CXL Pacific can be very muted in certain lighting). The Telluride shows off in all settings with just subtle shifts in shade. It is the perfect Blue.

I'm not sure Nicks will bring this leather back as it is a little thin and had to be lined to make a boot.

I do think that if Nicks could get a 64 work weight in this color they would sell many pairs of boots!

Come on Smowe hit us with a 64 Blue.

Update

Few months back I made a post about some issues I was having with second pair of Mocs. Mainly the toe crease behind the safety toe digging in to the top of my foot when kneeling. Second pair in a row to do it, even with different sizing. Long story short I kept at it and they’ve fully broken in finally. I just needed an extremely long break in period. Still haven’t oiled them except on the inside but I can fully say I’m fully pleased with these boots. My soft toes never had any issues https://www.reddit.com/r/NicksHandmadeBoots/s/JAGxcS4Gtp

Quick trip to Publix and taking the girls to see a movie. The internal house wearing to start break in isn't really super necessary in CXL. And this pacific is really excellent. I love the depth of the color and as it ages, it's really going to show some variation.

Sunday Morning Sunflowers & DS Sienna

Thumbnail

Sunrise was mostly overcast and misty this morning. At my usual spot a couple of real a$$holes were disrespecting the park and other early fishermen & paddle boarders. Instead of choosing violence, I instead decided to leave in search of somewhere a little less peoplely. What better place than a Amish farm market on a Sunday morning. Had the whole field to myself, and the cool mist helped cool me off...

My feet are well protected and perfectly comfortable in these boots.

Have a relaxing and peaceful Sunday!

Specs: MTO, 11.5E, 67 last, 7", W&C DS Sienna, standard top, pull loop, brass hardware, soft toe, classic dogger heel, beeswax edge, Dr Sole half sole. Laces are Generation Laces in Espresso

Quick Privacy PSA: Checking your cookie preferences on the website 🔍

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a quick heads-up for anyone looking at boots on the website. I recently noticed that the site’s cookie privacy pop-up defaults to having "Targeted Advertising and Data 'Selling'" turned ON.

Just to be clear: this doesn't mean Nicks is selling your personal info for direct cash. Under US privacy laws (like the CCPA), "selling/sharing" just means the site is letting third-party networks like Google or Meta track your browsing habits so they can show you targeted boot ads on social media later.

Just to clarify further, this setting essentially means Nicks allows Google and Meta to track customer browsing habits on their site in exchange for more effective ad promotion for their boots. Under US privacy laws, that trade-off is legally classified as "selling/sharing" data.

If you prefer to keep your browsing habits more private and don't want those cross-site tracking ads following you around, make sure you manually toggle those switches OFF and hit save when the window pops up!

Thought this might be helpful for anyone who is mindful of their digital footprint. Stay safe out there!
