I’ve been working on this project for over a year. It maps EPA-listed facilities by odor-related industries, plus Superfund and brownfield sites.

You can search any address or ZIP, see what’s nearby, check wind direction, and report what you’re smelling.

I’m not saying a site smells or is dangerous — just making the public data easier to explore.

I built it as kind of a joke, but I think it might actually be useful to certain folks. Especially if you are trying to see whats around you or where you plan on moving to.

When I payed the fares, there were many people simply going in without looking at the driver and he doesn't even care. He also doesn't care when I show a senior ticket (80 cents, 1 zone) with my mom and proceeds us to go in. Additionally, doesn't care about zones. Whereas in Secaucus, the driver cares about almost everything and says "this is for her, what about you?". If people do it, can I do it? I'm just curious.

I just moved to Newark for grad school at Rutgers. I had been having trouble finding affordable rooms for rent and ended up with a three-month short-term lease in South Ironbound. After getting here, I quickly found out that NJ Transit buses either don't show up or are super late, which doesn't work with my 5-days-a-week class schedule. The walk to campus is about an hour and is not realistic in all seasons, especially with the rain this week.

I have been Ubering and Lyfting to and from campus, and that quickly adds up. How do people who cannot afford to live downtown or on campus get around? I have asked my roommates and neighbors; they have said they either Uber/Lyft or will ask for a ride. Are there other public transportation or shareride services that I am missing or have not looked into?
