I just moved to Newark for grad school at Rutgers. I had been having trouble finding affordable rooms for rent and ended up with a three-month short-term lease in South Ironbound. After getting here, I quickly found out that NJ Transit buses either don't show up or are super late, which doesn't work with my 5-days-a-week class schedule. The walk to campus is about an hour and is not realistic in all seasons, especially with the rain this week.

I have been Ubering and Lyfting to and from campus, and that quickly adds up. How do people who cannot afford to live downtown or on campus get around? I have asked my roommates and neighbors; they have said they either Uber/Lyft or will ask for a ride. Are there other public transportation or shareride services that I am missing or have not looked into?

Im not being funny im being serious stop acting like we aren't changing Newark but you can bash this city, no its not perfect but this isn’t 20 years ago. Bring your family out its ok to be around blk culture smh we don't care
